Hey everyone

 

I'm not sure if this is allowed or not but I promise I'm not trying to create some sub-Forum within the Celine Channel! I'm just curious to see if there are any other fans of Roberta Flack out there?

 

After Celine, Roberta Flack is my favourite artist. Of course, it was Celine's interpretation of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face that introduced me to Roberta's work, and I have been a HUGE fan since I was 17.

Her version of The First Time is the definitive, in my opinion, but she also has a huge catalogue of great songs.

In addition to the well-known Killing Me Softly, Jesse and Feel Like Making' Love, she has covered Bridge Over Troubled Water and Will You Love Me Tomorrow. My favourite songs are currently See You Then and Let Them Talk both from the fantastic album 'Quiet Fire' and her cover ofTrade Winds as well as the song Just When I Needed You from the movie 'Bustin' Loose'.

 

Roberta's voice is understated, soothing and haunting at the same time and reminds me of rich, melted dark chocolate. I just love it.

Her style is faultless and, like Celine, for me she can do no wrong. Check out her duets with Donny Hathaway You Got A Friend and Be Real Black For Me. Musical magic!

 

Anyway, I would love to know if there are any other Roberta followers in this forum, and I would especially like to hear from anybody who has been lucky enough to see her performing live.
