Openning Number For The Tour...

With the world tour's first concert fast approaching it got me to thinking about the songs that will be included. For me the openning number is always a good indicator as to whether or not the show is going to have me hooked.

 

With that said what song(s) do you think and/or want to be the openning number for the "Taking Chances World Tour." Here are a few of my choices that I think would work wonderfully:

 

- Can't Fight The Feelin'

- Unison

- Taking Chances

- You And I

- River Deep, Mountain High

 

What do you guys think?

"River Deep, Mountain High" or "The Best" would be a great start for the concert...I really think a concert needs to start with a uptempo song. She usually starts with a slow song, so this time she should surprise everybody and do something different. The first song is really important for the concert, you'll get to see if the audience is good, how Celine is feeling etc.etc.

I'd love to see her walking to the stage during "The Best" (like she did on Les Stars de L'Annee)...the audience would go crazy (I know I would..lol).

I agree that it should be something uptempo and fun. 'Can't Fight The Feelin' would be a great choice. Or if she didn't want to go with something off the new album, perhaps 'I Drove All Night?'

I don't see it being any other song than Taking Chances. I can imagine the crowd going crazy when the guitar intro starts and Celine starts out in her low voice.

The opening song must be 'A New Day Has Come' radio remix,at least I would appreciatte that so much! :wub:

It's like 'A New Day came...because we've seen Celine! :w00t:

With the introduction on "The Best", I think they should use this it would make for a great build up and its up tempo, failing this i reckon "Alone"

I d'love it if "The Best" was the opening song...but I'm afraid it'll be "Taking Chances".How about the french concerts?"Je ne vous oublie pas" is a good bet,because of the meaningful lyrics.Although during the LTAL Tour she didn't change the opening song ("Let's Talk about love") for France.

it should be Shadow of Love. they can prolong the intro, with the heart beating for a few minutes to build up the anticipation of her coming out. i think it would be amazing.

I think for sure it will be taking chances for the non french speaking countries

like for the LTAL World tour she sang LTAL To Open it will most proberly be the same

situation with Taking chances world tour!!

 

And quite frankly i dont care what song is first as long as im there :clap:

i was wondering do you think the shows she does in france will be very different from the english ones, coz im off to nice in july and i dont speak french.........just a thought

Since this is the "Taking Chances World Tour", the most reasonable song to crack up the show would be TAKING CHANCES. If not, it MUST be an uptempo song, like "Eyes on me" or "Fade away"...or maybe A Cause for the francophone countries. It MUST be something for any of her new albums

I think Taking Chances, it's got a good build up and since it is the Taking Chances tour then it seems the obvious choice. I would be inclined away from The Best because it's not Celine's song, it's very much Tina Turner's. Celine gets away with River Deep, Mountain High because it is an older song and less directly associated with Tina but The Best is Tina's signature song and if Celine wants to start on a signature song at least let it be one of her (numerous) own!

After watching 'An Audience With...' and reading reviews for the CBS special I think RDMH would be a great opener, with all the dancers etc... Obviously nobody wants too much old material but i think this could be a possibility.

However, I can DEFINITELY see Taking Chances being the opener. I can imagine the guitar starting and the intro just being that little bit longer, to get the crowd going a bit. Even if the song is not sung straight away I can imagine it being a good Overture or instrumental while Celine prepares to come on stage.

I'm getting excited just thinking about it.

No other song seems like an obvious choice at the moment. I doubt it will be SOL. It will be TC or an old song.

When I saw her in London in 1997, the opening song was The Power Of Love. It was just so incredible to hear 'The whispers in the morning...' and then see Celine appear. It's probably why I like the song so much. I know many think it's been done to death, but I thought it made a great opener.

 

Enough! RDMH or TC for non-Francophone concerts

PQTME, Tout l'or des hommes, Immensite,RDMH or TC for Francophone concerts. Remember, she hasn't toured with 1F4T!

 

ps. I think her performance of 'The Best' was just incredible and I am listening to the mp3 constantly. It certainly would be a great opener, but I think Celine would be reluctant to do it as it is such a staple Tina Turner song. I doubt it will even be part of the concert cos I don't know anybody who has even covered it. Maybe she'll include it in a medley like the one from LTAL tour...!

It would work so well...as she could say...

'your simply the best .... and then the country where she is performing ie: LONDON, you are better than all the rest....it would work perfectly. But I would want her in a gorgeous short dress for it....and Celine no doubt will have a new pant suit for the first part of the show....

 

Otherwise I think it could be ANDHC...

 

TC...could be second.....I don;t think first because she likes a microphone stand...and I think she will have to come out singing instead of working to a stand...like in the early part of Falling into You...where she opened with TPOL and then went on to sing FIY with a microphone stand....

It might sound like a silly question but did Celine sing 'Falling Into You' during the FIY tour?

I saw her in London and I'm certain she didn't sing it. The show I saw was pretty much the same as the 'Live in Memphis' video.

After TPOL she sang RDMH, I'm sure of it. Though, of course, she varies songs from country to country.

Celine debuted the Falling Into You tour in Australia...so FIY was in the song list...it was second. TPOL, FIY, RDMH, ABM...

 

I think FIY was cut for the European and UK leg of the tour and was only included for the early part in Australia, New Zealand and Asia...

 

She used a microphone stand to sing it...

I was just listening to 'Shadow of Love' a few seconds before reading your posts and was thinking the exact same thing! It would make the perfect entrance. Although I really picture them actually going forth with it and I don't expect her to sing more than 3 songs off the new album. It would be nice to see her end with 'Taking Chances' though.

The Power of Love is such a perfect song to open a show. I'm not saying it should be the opening for this tour - because it shouldn't - but something to that nature.

 

I would either want a song that is Celine through and through and within the first couple words, you know that's HER song. Or I would want a song that is completely new for her that throw people for a loop - but people would still be peeing themselves because it's her first song.

 

I also like the idea of a real upbeat song as the opener. But I still think a solid ballad vocal showcase might be the best pick.

SHADOW OF LOVE !!!!

 

But the chances are slim.

It's more likely to be TC !!
