Il brano farà parte del prossimo album , ancora senza titolo, di Mariah Carey previsto in uscita all’inizio del 2005. L’ultimo lavoro pubblicato dalla cantante è “Charmbracelet” del 2002. Laura Swanson dell’etichetta di Mariah ha dichiarato al New York Post “Mariah è pronta per girare il video di ‘Say Something’. E’ un album fantastico che va oltre i confini dell’ R&B, hip-hop e pop". Solo un mese fa l’artista aveva confessato “Il disco è cool. Sono molto felice perché ci sono ballad, canzoni uptempo e tante altre peculiarità”. (c.c.) L’album conterrà anche i contributi del produttore Kanye West e dei rapper Nelly e Twista. Il nuovo lavoro sarà il follow-up di "Charmbracelet" del 2002. Sono queste le ipotesi al momento più accreditate (anche perché difficilmente possono essercene altre) per il “leaking” del nuovo album di Mariah Carey in Rete. Alcuni navigatori hanno infatti scoperto che non è difficile scaricare non solo “Say something”, il primo singolo dal nuovo “The emancipation of Mimi” della Carey, ma anche altri due brani: si tratta di “Tonight” e di “It’s like that”. “Tonight” vede la partecipazione di Nelly e Pharrell Williams, “It’s like that” di Jermaine Dupri. Quest’ultima canzone è addirittura entrata in rotazione presso alcune emittenti radiofoniche di Chicago, New York e Dallas. “The emancipation of Mimi” sarà pubblicato il prossimo 22 marzo; non è escluso che la data, dopo questi fatti, non possa essere anticipata.
