But just recently, my copy of the DVD broke. So I ordered the European re-release of the CD+DVD set. This DVD is in PAL format and my old copy was in NTSC format, because I bought it in the US. Anyway, the European edition came in the mail and when I popped the DVD into my DVD player, I noticed that the picture quality was no where as clear as my old copy. My DVD player is region free and reads both PAL and NTSC video format. But the video quality is worst than my old copy. Is this because I have an American DVD player, or is the quality really that bad?? If so, I'm starting to regret the purchase... Edit: The picture quality is really bad when I play it on my computer too. Bumble Posted January 10, 2008 at 10:01 PM Posted January 10, 2008 at 10:01 PM The Pal format has a higher resolution than the NTSC format. Maybe your DVD player doesn't handle well the downscaling? You can't judge the quality of the DVD on your computer, has it is more than likely that your screen has a higher resolution than the DVD itself, leading to an upscaling that doesn't look that great. When I bought the ONCP DVD (when it came out) I was thrilled with the copy! then the US edition came out, in my own NTSC, and the quality was devastating.
