I actually like listening to "Skies Of L.A." One of my three favorite songs in the album.

I have to agree with you. This is a one of the best songs on the album and this line really does stand out to me.

Here I thought I was the only one who thought this. Guess not!

Actually I had never paid attention to the meaning of that sentence!That's why I love her songs! We have to find out what they mean sometimes! :giggle:

And Davey84... That part of The skies of L.A is one of my favorite and I guess each one has their own interpretation of that, but for me it means that everyone has some advice to give you so that you do the right thing, but the only one who can find the way is yourself, and that is not so difficult to do because you have the power to do it if you want.

About my future being like the skies of LA, maybe there's something different about the skies of Los Angeles that we're not aware of. I tried to do some research on this but nothing called my attention... :confused: Maybe the fact the it's usually sunny, so it can mean that the future is sunny, so we'll really find the light... :confused1:

I thought I read from somewhere that the writer of the song says "Skies of LA" is about the environment, the pollution in L.A. But I guess it could have a deeper meaning than that...all depends on how you interpret it...that's the magic of music.

Davey84 is totally right about that one....and also rhapsodion on Skies Of L.A.

I guess what it means on the first paragraph is that

Everyone has the will inside to guide your path but most of them won't do it.....the answer is on the last verse "This is total neglection"

and then (as rhapsodion pointed out) it just means "my future looks grey" as the polluted skies of L.A.

I actually agree with Davey as well. Despite that "Skies of L.A." is one of my favourite songs on the album, I don't really get it. It's very beautiful, but I don't get it. :xmas_laugh:

Lol it is a beautifull song i think it basically means

that no one know whats going to happen next in Hollywood L.A (I get confused about if its the same place lol)

so shes singing about not knowing whats going to happen next in her life & Career

I also think theres a message to every one in the song about how they treat the world

with lines like

It's so sad what we have become

Beautiful days we seem to leave so undone

As thease two lines are the only lines in the song where she is not singing about herself directly

I suppose its however you interpret the song..

"My future is like the skies of LA" refers to how bleak things are. Earlier in the song there is the line "All I know is that I can't see the sun through the sky from here". As someone else posted, yes, it's about the pollution in the atmosphere and not being able to see the light (both literally and metaphorically). We are a nation of people who can't find the light. Other lines like "It's so sad what we have become" "We're in the land of the richest riches, but my mind seems so poor" are what make it for me, an extremely sad song from someone lost about the state of the world and not able to find anyone to point the way to a better and brighter future. Very bleak song and not sure how I feel about it ending the album. It is growing on me though.

I haven't analysed it a lot, but I thought maybe Skies of LA was about leaving LA. The verses could be describing the negative things about Hollywood, how everyone has money and advice and talent, but so many people are still unhappy and lost. Then the chorus could mean getting on a plane to leave, and going through the skies of LA not sure of your destination. I'm probably wrong, but I guess that's the great thing about lyrics and poetry- it can mean something different to everyone

As for "something for nothing never proved me wrong"...I guess it means either you give something, and get nothing, or you get something without giving anything...and that theory never proved her wrong?

wow i never thought that hard about skies of L.A. for me i think the whole something from nothing never proved me wrong goes back to celines early career. how many time has she said rene made me do an event that paid little over an event that paid a lot? in the end celine doing all the events that paid little paid off in the end. meaning that they didnt prove her worng. she got to where she is today because of that philosophy.
