Friends Who Hate Celine...

Do you guys have friends who just despise Celine with a passion? I have these two friends who are great, but when it comes to Celine, they just totally hate her for reasons they just can't explain. I mean, I understood that they weren't fans, and I could accept that they don't like her. But if the topic of Celine ever comes up, they turn it into this huge issue, and criticize her for everything, and it pisses me off!! They look through all the photos of her, criticizing each photo from top to bottom! They're not even polite about it! They're so mean and vulgar when it comes to expressing their hatred for her! I try so hard not to say anything, but sometimes it's so horrible--they go too far and I become furious!

 

How can people be so shallow and condescending!? It's not like they have any reason to hate her! The have yet to give me a reason for hating her!!

 

I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem.

I don't have actual friends who hate her, but I know people who just don't like her. Period. You know... if people can't learn to accept the fact that you love Celine will great passion, then they're obviously really crummy friends (and really crummy people, for that matter). You don't deserve people like that in your world. You really don't.

 

I know how you feel. Sometimes, but seldomly, people will rack up some rediculous (rude) comment about Celine, just to tick me off. But, in life, people can go a bit overboard, and often they don't understand how much it hurts us. We as fans understand how deep and important our love for Celine is. Others don't get that because they don't take the time to see what lies beyond the outer person. So, some people (the mean ones) will often test you to see how far they can go until you blow your top. It's experimental for them, and (disgustingly) they will find bits of pleasure in doing it.

 

And then there are those other times where people tend to try and make Celine look bad because they know how universal she is. Granted, Celine looks great, in all ways possible - physical appearance-wise, success-wise, career-wise, etc... Why do people do this? Well, for the top reason, of course. They're envious. Seriously. Everyone has their favourites, right? Well, nowadays, people's favourites tend to be... how can I put this? ... More amateur (no offense to anyone). And some (stupidly shallow) people can't stand the fact that Celine is so professional, so successful, and (my God) so rich. One strategy to making themselves feel better about this is to make someone else who is way up there look bad. And who else is up there? No one, but Celine.

 

 

Jeeze... I've rambled on forever. I've experienced (in the past) a lot of what you're experiencing. But you know, I do believe Celine fans are contagious. I made a lot of my guy friends (the straight ones) fall for Celine and her unearthly stunning beauty and sex appeal. And I turned some of my good gal friends into quite some mighty Celine fans. Not as huge as me, but quite huge, nevertheless. These things take time. People need to learn to cope. If you've known someone forever and they still haven't learned to cope... My advice to you...

 

Screw them, Celine fans kickass!

Maybe they shouldn't be your friend if they can't respect how you feel about Celine.

 

To be quite honest, I don't really care what people think anymore. I'm way past getting upset...I just want to enjoy life and the music Celine brings to her fans...of course I am tired of people criticizing her (especially her own fans) but that's life and that's how people are. I felt really bad when I saw the A New Day DVD where they were talking about Celine's hair and you can tell Celine was hurt by her fans not liking the DVD with the blond hair. I mean, I wasn't crazy about her blond short hair, but it's her hair. Anyway, that's another topic!

Ugh - My best friend hated her for so long. He would draw on my posters, make puking noises whenever I played her music, etc. But after Taking Chances came out, he's bought many songs from iTunes. He's completely flipped, and now he's even buying me Celine CDs and posters for my dorm.

 

Oh, and my roommate despises Celine... but I don't care because I despise my roommate. It just gives me another reason to blast Celine...

thank god my friends loves celine dion. they're not a fan, they don't buy her albums, but they adore her as a singer and an artist. at least they are casual celine fans. they find celine dion beautiful. their only complaint is that she's so skinny and thin. but she is beautiful.

My sister/s is not a fan of Celine. But they do like some of her songs. On my behalf they don't say anything about her like "If they do like her or not" I mean it's a kind of respect on my part from them,on me being a Celine Dion Fanatic. Even some of my friends that is not a fan of her, they don't like say anything which would hurt me most.

 

My suggestion to you is that, try to confront your friends but in a nice way. If they know much that you really like Celine.

I have the same situation. My friends son't like Celine... they even hate her. But if I ask "what is the reason?", they just cannot answer!

 

I don't know why they consider Celine as a trashy singer, and they don't appreciate her live, work and being. I think it's just because of they don't know her, and the only song they ever heard is "My Heart Will Go On".

 

I told to my friend to listen a few song from Celine... of course she didn't want to agree, but I insisted a lot.

Guess what! Now she's singing 'Taking Chances' or 'On S'est Aime A Cause' when we're taking a walk

 

So I think that's the major reason: PEOPLE DON'T KNOW CELINE DION!

ha! well not really a friend but my mum used to hate Celine a lot. i went through a lot of verbal Celine bashing from her. this happened for about 2 years. it was especially bad in 2005. then came along the Taking Chances listening party that was held here last month. i brought my mum and aunt there. SonyBMG screened the studio recordings of the songs and that converted mum. she saw how a nice, down to earth person Celine was. she doesnt really mind that i blast Celine's songs now.

 

from the friends side, they dont hate her. they just dont listen to Celine's type of music. they do occasionally get pestered by me to listen to Celine's new songs and stuff and they're okay with it

Yes, cmcdoari, my classmates told the same when they found out that I had bought tickets for Paris. But wtf? Who cares, they were gelous! Poor minds! They'll never have the change to know how it feels to be a fan of Celine and what a joy it is to have the change to go and see her. There are some in my class that tease me everyday, that talk about Celine (you can imagine what kind of things they say) near me, they make sure I xan hear all those sillly things...I just simply go away and don't say anything because it makes me sick. A few months ago, I remember having stayed late (because my country is 7 hours forward from Canada) to watch "Le Banquier" and next day at school I was soooo tired. I told my deskmate I'd stayed to watch Celine with a wide smile when I said "Celine" and her only reaction was: "You didin't sleep to look at that...(after thinking) *CENSORED*?". It made made me sick, so I said to her "Do you know what? You are the only *CENSORED* here" And so I left...not to mention this retard was one of those who knew almost nothing about Celine.

 

I'm sorry for them but I if they want to be their friend they have to accept me with Celine , or no way.

I have this problem.Im 15 and im goign to her concert so i bought to tickets but i still have no one to go with. Whenever i tell people im a fan or they find out im going to her concert they make nasty jokes. Everyone around seems to dislike her even hate her and i dont understand why so many people dislike her but i ignore it now i dont care being a fan makes me happy and thats what really counts as long as i have some one to come to her concert with me.

Ohhh, my friends don't like Céline at all. But they respect my decision for liking her. They do tease me about flying all the way to the United States to see her perform, but they think it's cool that I got to stay in Las Vegas.

Hey Great Topic I must say, its a topic i feel strongly about Lol

... well im 15 and have 3 best friends one friend is a big dance music fan like cascada and stuff, another is an indie and rock music fan and my best friend likes a bit of everything. Its quite hard being 15 and being a celine dion fan because nobody in your age group actually likes her or knows her as much as you do. I mean when i found out i was going to see her next year for my birthday i was sooo happy and excited and wanted to 'scream' and brag to my whole class, but i couldnt because i knew that would laugh and think oooh big deal because they would rather see artic monkeys or rhianna or someone. When i told my friend she thought it was cool and was happy for me, then a girl in my class who over heard turned around and had the cheek to say.... Well my friends know I love her so they don't even dare dissing her. They admit that she has a great talent though, liking her or not. That's how I prefer it, I don't want people to love her like I do, but as long as they admit that she can sing, I'm fine.

 

I had a friend who said she can't sing, I asked how and why. He said because she mostly sings with a head voice and he doesn't consider that as 'singing'.

Now I will name a few of his fave artists: Gwen, Beyonce, Kelis... You get it?!

I always have people at work pick on me for loving Celine.

 

One of my managers asked me how much my ticket was to see her in Vegas, and when I told him, he replied with "What did she do, take a sh*t and wipe on your ticket?" "Did she throw her panties on your lap after the show was over?"

 

I just roll it off laughing and they still know I love her to death, but here lately it doesn't get to me. I think they are jealous that I got to go see her and they just like to see how far they can go...but I usually draw a line somewhere and they don't cross it. You have to set boundaries.

i know exactly how ur feeling! oh my god when my family or friends said stupid things about Celine, it pissed me off so much! I would argue with them all the time. They would criticize her for no apparent reason. But as time went by, i learned to ignore these rude remarks because i know their just jealous of her success and don't want to except the fact that Celine is a wonderful singer, mother, and human being. I talk about Celine so much, that many of my friends and family have changed their minds about Celine. Now, my friends and family are accompanying me to a concert next year and won't stop singing her songs. Well... My friends are ok about it... Some people that i know don't like her at all and always makes me angry... I try to ignore but when it's too much I just get SO angry and then a small argument starts LOL

But my closer and best friends like her. I can talk to them about her and they won't care... They like her music and thanks to me- knows about her great personality and what a great person she is

I had a friend (she's not my friend anymore... long story) who was my best friend for a long time and she didn't really like her... I couldn't even talk to her about Celine... What a friend Although she agreed to draw Celine once. It was cute :]

 

I guess that everyone know that feeling when the people around you hate or just don't like Celine... And yeah I agree that it's just because they don't know her well like we do...

I think I'm very lucky 'cause my friends never say anything negative about Céline. They probably think my obsession with her goes a bit too far sometimes (that's what I think too! ) but they accept me as I am. I'm not sure what my friends actually think about Céline but it's obvious that they don't hate her. They don't mind if I talk about Céline at times and some of them do like some Céline songs.

 

I really feel for the fans whose friends hate Céline. People can be so mean and cruel!
