I am a Catholic... but sometimes, i don't feel like attending masses... i prefer to pray in the early afternoon when the church is empty.

I love to be in that special place alone.. U know, candles surrounding me, stained glass.

have u ever felt the same feeling?

I don't believe in organized religion, but I am NOT an athiest. I am a free thinker.

I have respect for all religious beliefs.

Well I sort of (if that's possible) grew up Catholic, but my parents were not strict church goers. We were the people that often get criticized since we would only show up mostly on the "big" holidays like Christmas, although that eventually dwindled away. I guess I'm what they refer to as a lapsed Catholic, since I rarely attend church although I actually do like to attend once in awhile.

What makes me mad is people who try to get you into these religeous discussions at work. I started a new job about five months ago, and I've always been a person who tries to avoid talking about controversial issues in the workplace, but of course, someone always gets started on one of them, and religion always seems to be one of them.

The first day on the job I was working with this guy, really nice, who all of the sudden says to me "Do you believe in Christ?" I mean, a question like that puts me in a difficult place. I had just started my job, only HOURS into it, and this guy is telling me all of his beliefs. Basically I told him, in a nice way that in the future he may want to be careful who he asks this too since someone, at sometime, may be offended (I was not) and take the issue to human resources. I said it in a way where I hopefully did not sound like an "arse."

My whole thing is if you talk about these thing OUTSIDE of work I have no problem with it, but please leave these issues outside of the workplace.

I later found out this guy, who I still work with, only recently became religeous. He was into Buddhism only a few years ago. What I laughed at is the guy found some girl online, now his wife, who was very religeous so I think this converted him.

I'm very open to different people's beleifs, but I don't want to have debates or arguments, as I have seen many times, at the place where I'm trying to make a living! :xmas_ohmy:

I couldn't agree with you more! I would classify myself exactly the same way however i was raised Christian.

I was raised roman catholic and attended Roman catholic schools 11 of 12 years. I am now an Independent Catholic and a Sister. I do attend Mass sometimes at the Independent Catholic church on Saturdays and a Roman catholic church on Sundays - although I am not able to do that for a few weeks due to a temporary change in my work schedule.

My faith is very much a part of who I am ... and still something with which I struggle, sometimes even on a daily basis since I lost my partner nearly 22 months ago.

I was brought up Lutheran and am still a member of that church to this day. I find it a good central place for my beliefs, but not the only place. There are some things I disagree with, but unless i start my own denominiation I am sure that's the way it is.

I have been going to the church in my hometown since christmas break started and a lot of my peers are likw WOW you came to church... like really sarcastic and that totally turns me off from even going t church. I was raised Christian, but I do not go to church now nor do I have the desire to, I have actually the past year, been thinking about my beliefs and what I believe in, not what someone else made me believe in. It's been hard, but I've started coming to grips with reality and wondering if there really is something out there that can help/save us all. I sometimes feel bad saying that, but It's true...I can't help the way I feel. I don't like religious discussions, though...it always gets me upset and like people jump on you or attack you for feeling a certain way. Everyone is different though, so ...... I don't believe one person feels the same on every thing or every level. Edited by KimboCosmo
