Here in Italy they aired the song only for 2 weeks, then it was removed by all the radio stations' playlists. Sony BMG Italy decided not to send out the music video, because they considered it "too static". Quote The Celine Dion Italian fanbase - CelineDionItalia.com
J-Man Posted March 30, 2008 at 12:10 AM Posted March 30, 2008 at 12:10 AM 15 years ago you would have run off to HMV and picked up 2 cd singles, one with remixes, one with an unreleased track, then you headed to Virgin and picked up a MC with an instumental version of the song, and then went online and bought an import version with alternate artwork! Now if we're lucky there's a couple of CD singles released per album (just one version per song mind, and one will be promo only) and a couple of pointless, totally worthless and un-collectable downloads. What's the point in them! Where's the joy in clicking a button and getting a song on your PC, that any true fan, (who is the best chance a song has of getting on the charts), already has. They're OK before the album is released, afterwards about as usefull as a chocolate teapot. The glory days for collecting music are over folks. Celine's singles chart days are behind her. It was always going to happen, and eventually, she'll move completley into the Barbra Streisand mode and us devoted followers will stick with her, paying vast sums of money to see her perform at selected venues, with albums being released without making any impression on the charts, and we'll be getting excited if we even hear her on the radio! Also, when, god forbid, Rene passes on, I can't see her continuing to any great degree, she'll probably not have the heart to carry on (In my opinion, hope no-one is offended by my mentioning such a terrible thing) Hopefully Rene-Charles is going to carry on the family name (a la Judy Garland/Liza Minnelli, well maybe not exactly like Liza! ) Don't get me wrong, I love her and believe she will be remembered as one of the classiest and most important female singers of all time, she'll always be my favourite. But there's not much point in hoping for a return to the COML/FIY days, because that's over, probably no song on Taking Chances was ever going to storm the charts (and I love that album). But that's okay, it's all part of a full and varied career, which Celine has certainly had. No artists stays chart topping for ever. I'd prefer to see Celine continue stretching herself artistically with her albums, without worrying about chart positions. 1f4t, D'elles and Taking Chances have successfully done this, and while none are going to go down in history as record breakers for sales, they are all albums to be proud of. Shamrock_1982 Posted April 1, 2008 at 07:38 PM Posted April 1, 2008 at 07:38 PM Hey guys Sony uk confirmed today that they sent over a thousand of these cd's to radio stations, and music websites around the uk. I think this was quite a good idea by sony, alot of radio stations and music websites, will be interested in the way this was done,as obviously its not the norm, but it gets attention... and hey even bad promotion is promotion as we know, but this was only one website! I will have a small number of these promo cd's to give away soon.... Sony have also said that A new day... live in vegas, will air at the end of this month in the uk (I will give an exact time and date soon) to coincide with the start of the uk leg of celine's tour, and the digital release of Alone. They are also currently updating the www.celinetakingchances.com microsite, to promote the new single, worldtour, the album and run new competitions.... Darren. Quote

Shaun Posted April 1, 2008 at 10:38 PM Posted April 1, 2008 at 10:38 PM Great idea. Really really like it. Celine is in DIRE need of radio support in the UK and it certainly seems like Sony UK is doing all they can do get Celine back on radio now. Dont forget that the UK is the only country in the world now on the 3rd single from the album! I like the simple facts that the promo cd presents and I LOVE the comparison with other artists she has outsold. Might prove to radio programmers that she is still as popular as she ever was and moreso that other current "hip" artists. If this doesn't get the song onto radio in the UK I dont know what will. Will be interesting to see how this develops. Quote Bringing you the world's only Celine Dion podcast show since 2014.Find us on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Spotify & Amazon Music.
Xpresso Posted April 2, 2008 at 01:08 PM Posted April 2, 2008 at 01:08 PM Why did Sony UK wait 5 months before doing something like this??? And what if the new single was Fade Away or Shadow of Love and using this type of promotion?? But overall, good move by Sony UK... I can't believe I'm writing this! Quote
CSCfan Posted April 2, 2008 at 03:59 PM Posted April 2, 2008 at 03:59 PM Celine Dion footage of her striking performance of Alll By Myself Today 11:14 Footage of her striking performance of Alll By Myself filmed last week during her world tour shows that as she turns 40 on sunday she's still got it! Celine Dion is known not only for her huge voice, but also for her live performance and incredible stage presence. This footage of Celine belting out ‘All By Myself’ on her ‘Taking Chances’ world tour last week (which hits the UK in May), shows that as the diva hits 40, THAT voice is better than ever, and her emotional and dramatic performance could impress even the harshest of critics. As the biggest selling female artist of all time, Celine is currently showing the rest how it’s done with a world tour, UK platinum selling album & forthcoming UK single “Alone” on May 5th– life really does start at 40! Though Celine has been performing in her record-breaking Las Vegas engagement for the past 5 years, it has been close to 10 years since she has toured around the world. On her Taking Chances World Tour, Celine will visit many territories for the very first time, including this inaugural visit to South Africa where she holds the record for being the country’s biggest selling artist of all time. Immediately following this current leg Celine performed in Japan & Korea & is currently performing in various dates across Australia. In May 2008 the tour moves to the UK, and Europe playing stadiums and arenas, and finally it heads back across the ocean where Celine will open the North American leg of her tour in Boston on 12th August. May 2nd and 3rd Manchester Evening News Arena. May 6th and 8th London The 02 Arena. May 10th Birmingham NEC [FemaleFirst UK] Funny how they mention footage of the ABM performance, but it isn't seen anywhere on that page..
