the CELINE logo

guys i have noticed one thing. the very popular CELINE logo/lettering is i think her lucky charm in all her english studio albums.  when celine released her 1st english album unison, she didn'tused that. it is plain celine dion, and look. the album didn't sell well. 4M worldwide and 1.5M in the US. then when she released her self-titled, she used plain celine dion letter only. the album sold 3M copies in the US, 6M worldwide. :msn-wink: and then she released the colour of my love with the ever popular CELINE logo/lettering. and look, the album sold 6M in the US alone and 20+M worldwide! then the follow ups, the 2 of the biggest selling albums of all time, falling into you and let's talk about love. FIY sold 12M in the US alone and 32M worldwide. LTAL sold 10M in the US alone and 31M worldwide. they are very successful.  the she released these are special times, which would go on to become the 2nd best selling holiday album of all time. and the all the way... a decade of song album sold 8+M in the US alone and 20+M worldwide. that's a lot!!!  and she released her comeback album a new day has come. it sold 12M copies worldwide! these albums has that CELINE logo/lettering. but when she released one heart, she put 'celine dion' again and look. the album sold only 6M worldwide. then miracle sold poorly.

i rili do think that EVER famous CELINE logo is her lucky charm. what do u think guys???

That's a very interesting observation. :xmas_ohmy: I've never looked at that before.

Up until the release of TC, your theory could've been true. But TC seems to be doing quite well.

i hope so sweetheart.. but one heart sold more than 400,000 in its opening week, #2.but taking chances sold just a little over 200,000, #3. so one heart is obviously more successful than taking chances in their opening weeks. but im really hoping that taking chances will really sell in the long run and the tour will help to boost the sales of her album. let's see. what's important 4 me now is taking chances is outselling britney's blackout even it was released 2 weaks ahead of taking chances..  i love blackout though.. :msn-tongue: :msn-tongue:

YOU'RE RIGHT!!!

The Celine Logo is some kind of Brand which people know. Some good quality. Everybody knows it's Celine Dion and I think it should be on each of her new albums... ! :)

That's an interesting observation. Never thought about that. But now that you say it........But I think the fact that Celine's earlier albums sold less than the following ones has to do more with the popularity. Not so many knew her back then

well i love the logo!! i think they should still use the logo!

Courage don't you dare fail me now!

I don't think the "Celine" logo had anything to do with the album sales. I love that logo, and I hope they bring it back, but the reason the albums that used that logo sold a lot is because they are amazing. So is Taking Chances.

Some people could call it "Subliminal Messages"!

But don't tell this anyone, coz maybe in the future they'll say Celine has a deal with the Devil!!!

hi guys!

actually, when i was interviewing rene for "a new day has come," i asked him why they had decided to abandon the logo in the cover art. he told me that they felt it was time to try something new, to update the overall look... BUT that they DID consider the script celine logo sort of a good luck emblem at that point. he said then that every album would include the logo somewhere, if only in tiny subtle fashion...

happy new year!

hugs,

lol i gues that logo is just what people associate her with. the new type face 'celine dion's don't help people to identify! :P

I agree. I love that logo so much I was like WHAT? when I got "One Heart" and it did not have it. Even my 86-year-old grandmother told me a few weeks ago that it was weird that the "cursive lettering" (as she called it) was missing from her album (Taking Chances). When "One Heart" did not carry the logo, I thought, wow, what would happen if the Coca-Cola logo were removed from the bottles and replaced with a regular font? Even Mariah Carey has stuck with the same (though plain) lettering for her album covers.

I think the classic logo matches Celine's look very well. People can't change look as as the the popular logo. :kicking:

okay, first of all...calling each other "sweetheart" and "baby"....is creeping me out. And second...no..the success of her sales in respect to her logo is only coincidence. Falling Into you was only the second album to use the new logo... and we all know that the material on that album is some of her best standing work to date. It's when she hit her stride. Album of the Year. No one hated her then. Her glory days were PRE- My Heart Will Go On.

So Let' Talk About Love comes along. She's now POST-album of the year. of COURSE everyone's gonna run out and see what she's come up with next. Did she top or did she flop? Well..thanks to MHWGO and a couple other songs, she topped. I think the album sold well because of Falling Into You. Not because of the album as a whole by itself.

Then comes along the Christmas album. People still have the 'Titanic' glaze over their eyes. During this time, she's adored all over for MHWGO... So only naturally, her Christmas album is gonna sell like hot-cakes. But this time I believe it's because it's not only fueled by her success with Titanic, but because it actually is, a kick-#ss Christmas album. With quite a few nice originals on there as well. Voila. A Star is Born. Throw in a hit TV special and a Greatest Hits CD and you're on your way to Celine Loversville. Soon to arrive in Celine Hatersville, just two years north.
