scorp82 Posted December 23, 2007 at 01:53 PM Posted December 23, 2007 at 01:53 PM (edited) Hello all! So, as we know, A New Day Has Come was the first single off the same titled album. However, some time ago, I read that the song was actually not going to be the first single. It has been rumored that Sorry for Love was going to be the first single. Then, 9/11/01 occurred and with all the unfolding events, and with the personal meaning of A New Day Has Come for Celine, she chose that song as a single. Does anybody know more about this? Thanks! tonybower Posted June 27, 2008 at 08:57 PM Posted June 27, 2008 at 08:57 PM A New Day Has Come has grown into one of Celine's staple songs and formed the basis of her Las Vegas show.It is a great song. It was never a favourite but because I have never overplayed it, I can still appreciate it today. It is very uplifting and whenever I feel like a change is needed, this track becomes my theme tune. I want to say, though, that I just love Sorry For Love. the very first time I heard it I just thought it was great. It is very rare that I like Celine's upbeat tracks (usually it takes some getting used to!) but this song was a favourite from the word go! It might even be my favourite from the album (but I'd have to think about that!) I even prefer it to the slower version. When I first heard it I felt it had a great Eurovision sound to it... I even remember telling friends that it could be a hit. I was sceptical because at the time I think the general public would not have accepted such a different sound from Celine and I remember saying how the song would be appereciated if somebody like Mariah had recorded it. It would never have been as good, but I think it's so interesting (and unfortunate) how much Celine's reputation and image effects her credibility and sales. This is a great song and she sings it well! I'm very interested to learn that it was considered as the first single choice. Presumably Celine likes it?! I wonder if things would have been different today if the original plan had gone ahead... and how critical was the decision in the success of the album and what followed...? Davey84 Posted June 27, 2008 at 09:13 PM Posted June 27, 2008 at 09:13 PM maybe Chuck knows something about it! He talked to René and Céline before ANDHC was released... I vaguely remember him talking about that! and also about a remix version, or a total different version of SFL, that René played to him, but he hasn't heard it ever again Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th
SensationalCeline Posted June 27, 2008 at 11:15 PM Posted June 27, 2008 at 11:15 PM I think that 9/11 spoke out to many people and I think that the reason she changed the song was because people needed to believe that at the time, a new day would come for everyone and a lot of people were hurt and killed. That day, everyone was going through a lot so I think that she wanted to give people some kind of hope to hold on to and that, to me, is like the meaning of the whole song. That whatever you're going through at the time, a new day will come that everything will be ok that you'll be ok.
