Has anyone ever had fillings put into their teeth or tooth? I broke off part of my tooth and it has a cavity in that tooth and now I need a filling put in but I am scared. Now, the dentist that I did go to cut my gums not the first time either,he cut my gums in 2005 during a cleaning. Now, I am scared to go to the dentist and get the tooth or teeth taken care of, cause I am sure I need more than one filling put in, but I am scared of getting hurt again I am going to see a new dentist but I am scared of getting hurt again.

Any advice?

Grow up? Probably the best I can give. Believe me, it'll hurt a hell of a lot more and for a lot longer if you just leave it. Plus you'll have no teeth. Take it from someone who has had more dental work than probably anyone here, get it sorted out

Uhhh.. don't remember me.. I used braces for five years, and when I finnally removed them, my dentist cut a big part of my gum! I just saw the blood going down the sucker!! It was terrible :S

Love comes to those who believe it...

dont think braces hurt as much as a cavity. im having braces now. cavities are not very nice compared to braces. my advise, get that fixed ASAP gurl! even if it means shaking like mad in the dentist chair

I had a small cavity last year and I was terrified, bacause I had never tried getting a filling before.

But when I sat in the chair it wasn't really that bad. They were very nice to me and I got (how do you say it?)anaesthetized, so I couldn't feel anything. An I was happy when it was all over...

But it was definitely not as bad as I thought it would be!

Good luck! :thumbsup2:

I have had to have various teeth filled and even though it's not the most fun it's not that bad. They give you novacaine or if you are really nervous they can give you some kind of sedative. It will be over before you know it. -_-

I have a couple of times with my baby teeth but now they've all gone and grow new ones. Hope I won't get another with this one anymore. But it's not that bad when you're at the dentist, it didn't hurt for me. Having braces on your teeth is much worse in my opinion. It really hurts a lot!!!

Really? I have to force myself to eat for several days. What did Celine says: Beauty before comfort, is it right?

Feel so good to have them off... and now I've got a well-organizeed pack of teeth (lost totally of 4 canines)

Fillings are fine.. u will just feel painful when u bite on that tooth for the first couple of days/weeks after filling.

Try to treat cavity as soon as possible before it reaches the tooth nerve, cuz then, the dentist will have to carve more inside ur tooth to pull the nerve, and lots of parts of the tooth will be lost during the procedure... as a result, u'll have to get a canine for the tooth ... sh*t

I know dentistry is hell cuz one tooth might take around 4 sessions with many days apart to be fixed.

Lesson learned: Never sleep before teeth brushing AND mouth washing with extra fluoride. Fluoride is the best solution to sustain the enamel and avoid cavity

PS: Being a woman over 40 might cause some problems for teeth, so you need good calcium intake as well.
