Worst Movie Ever?

My vote for the worst film ever (well the one I enjoyed the least) would have to go to Hotel, directed by Mike Figgis. It was the most confusing, rambling, ridiculous piece of crap I have ever seen! I watched it twice and I still have absolutely no idea what it was about, who any of the characters were and what the point of it all was. It had varying degrees of nudity, some scenes of seemingly random acts of cannibalism and it just all round sucked!

 

As for the worst actor I would have to go with... the Wayans brothers from White Chicks. Attrocious... truly terrible

 

And for actress my vote goes to Kim Basinger in Cellular... You won an oscar for god's sake... you can act... why oh why couldn't you in this terrible film!!

U-571 really bored me to death, so that's my all-time least favorite movie. And though I really like her, I'd say my least favorite performance by an actor or actress has to be Jessica Simpson in "Employee Of The Month."

Coming close, "Freddy vs. Jason." I hated the part when Jason attacked people with a machete, and blood came out as if it had been a hose he had hit . Madonna's performance in "Who's That Girl" was also awful.

 

If you ask me why I saw those movies, I have no clue. LOL

I watched like... 5 minutes of "Doom" with Vince Diesel, and I really couln't stand it. It was awful.

Good topic! OMG my list would be endless! The thing is some movies are so bad that it can kind of make them good.

 

One movie that I thought was bad, and I know people will disagree with me, was the first of the NEW Star Wars movies that they released. Maybe it was because my expectations were so high or that I saw it after work and I was tired, but it was one of the only movies where I was actually falling asleep and could not wait until it ended! Maybe I should revisit that movie some day. I WANTED to like it but...

I don't think I can judge the actors/actresses, but the worst movie I've ever seen so far is "Lord Of The Flies".

They made us watch it in Grade 10. Dear God, I looked like this through the entire movie.

I TOTALLY agree with you on that one, Steve! You know I'm a sci-fi geek! I loved the original 3 but was EXTREMELY disappointed with Episode 1 & 2. I almost didn't go see Episode 3... but it turned out to be the best! Episode 1 was so boring - I fell asleep at the theatre after reserving tickets way ahead of time to avoid standing in line. It wasn't at all like I expected. I rented it when it came out on DVD and had to watch it 3 or 4 times before I stayed awake through the whole film.

I actually LIKE a lot of movies that Tom Cruise has been in but he does always seem to be have that high intensity in the way he plays each character. I thought he and Demi Moore were great in "A Few Good Men."

Rain Man was a good movie. The Last Samurai I liked.

 

I think Ben Affleck is a TERRIBLE actor, although his brother, Casey (Ocean's 11, Gone baby Gone) is a lot better.

And Ben can at least direct a movie pretty well.

As for the mention of Tom Cruise for worst actor? That's a bit harsh. Admittedly he's not Laurence Olivier but he has been pretty damn good in a lot of films. Magnolia he was brilliant, he was very good in Jerry Maguire, Collateral excellent, Born on the 4th of July also excellent, Rainman, upstaged by Hoffman but still very good!

 

And Saw? terrible, terrible acting but enjoyable film!

Thats kinda the point of the film. It was a film about the characters in the film, not the witch. They left it up to your imagination to make of it what you will. I would assume that was both smart film making and smart budgeting. If you don't show someone in a film you don't have to pay them, or make them up!

I personally didn't like the film but I do think it was well made. I just didn't enjoy it! There is an old saying, it's not what you see that scares you, it's what you don't. As was the case in this film. The suggestion of something can be as scary as that thing itself.

 

A good case of this is the texas chain saw massacre. There is very little true violence in this film. there is no gore, very little blood, but the suggestion of the violence makes it one of the most shocking films ever made, and one of the most influencial ones ever.

I've always thought that, even though I like him, Keanu Reeves has been a bad actor. BUT, I did think that even though most of his acting and movies have mostly been bad I actually thought he was pretty good in the Matrix movies.

Well... the worst movie I've seen is every Thai movie here that's produce by Kantana. The special effects team are so lazy that even kids know that some scenes are compositions. They don't even change the lighting in the scene or add any shadows, they add snakes in the movie and they looked like they were floating above the floor! Gosh, if I have the chace to go study about special effects in USA. I'm gonna come back here and organize a revolution!!!

Yeah you have good points there. I didn't think Last Samurai was that believable but that does not necessarily mean I did not like that or any other movie. I love all of those Ang Lee movies and they are CERTAINLY not believable.

 

My thing about "Mr Cruise" is I think is great a playing certain characters. Even in "Rain Man" I thought he was good because because like in Jerry Mcguire he is good at playing that "slicky boy" character. The problem is that he is like that in EVERY movie! I do have to admit that I am beginning to tire of his movies lately. Also some people make the mistake (I think) of how they like the actual real person as opposed to the actor. There are some actors that I can't stand when I see them in "real life" but are great at their job as an actor.

A few good men, was quite far from awesome. Its watchable, but nothing special. Rainman was great because of the chemistry between Hoffman and Cruise. They were believable as brothers and really played off each other. Born on the 4th of July was a fantastic film. It is painful to watch because of the power and emotion of it. Magnolia, watch it. You'll probably hate it, but it is one of the most underrated films of all time. A true classic with the best closing sequence ever filmed. Jerry maguire is a chick flick but one that kicks the #ss of every other chick flick I've ever seen! Collateral, upstaged by Jamie Foxx? Hardly! Tom Cruise's cold, calculating killer is a fantastic character that is expertly played, out of type for him too.

 

Last Samurai wasn't bad because it was unbelievable. It was bad because it had a weak story and a bad script.
