What kind of future does Celine face?

With all the rising negativity surrounding Celine, with people feeling the liberty for some reason to bash her more so than ever, and with sales on the relative low, what kind of effect do you think is going to pan out for Celine? Why do you think this is all happening?

 

 

Lol personally as a fan I'm surprised at how individually riled up I could have gotten about this. Today all day I walked around in a funk because of all the news I'd been reading. Personally I think because people feel they have.. managed to 'push her out of mainstream media' for the past few years, the moment she tries again to get up on the rise, there's more hostility than ever to not welcome her into the industry again. I wonder if while extra promotion would help sell so many more albums to fans who don't know there's a cd out, whether it would rile more haters at the same time and intensify the negativity towards her reentry into mainstream media. I feel like the way Sony or Rene and everybody there are going about this needs to really be sat down and thought about, and they can't even reapply past methods of success for her or other artists, because this is such a strange situation in which to bring back an artist. Sigh. Celine grew popular in such a specific way and to so specific a crowd I guess that people either completely love her or hate her. Akin to what Rene said, i don't think any other artist has faced such issues before. Is it just..God forbid... time for her to retire? Or do you think if she keeps pushing at this industry it will finally give way to embrace her again as they used to?

Just because Celine is not sitting on top of the world's charts, it does not mean that she is irrelevant or not popular anymore. What artist would not dream of selling 200k+ on their release date. True, we want her to sell millions and millions, but we have to be realistic and not ignore the fact that the wisest choices regarding her next chapter have been made. Still it is extremely early in the album's life, and it could do much better. But if it doesn't, that's life. All of us have had terrible downs and exciting ups.

Also, if we look at other's people's careers, like Mariah and Madonna, they had terrible flops and rebounded gracefully. And if you look at the worldwide scenario, many high-profile artists are suffering from not-so-wisely-chosen first singles: Kylie, Britney, Spice Girls.

Celine is an established act, and no matter what happens with this album, she is and will always be legendary. But I truly believe in the end everything will be just fine with her career.

she's already sold out in Ireland and Canada for the TC world tour, and there's so much

excitement about her touring again.

i think your right about her coming back into mainstream and alot of people aren't liking

She is loved and respected by millions. The problem with the CD "Taking Chances" is that it did not receive the promotion it deserved to help catapult it to the top. Another thing is that the music industry has changed a lot. The music heard today is not as good as what Amerian Top 40 used to consist of. Hip-Hop and R&B is much more popular than rock/soft rock. Hence why Alicia Keys has sold so much more. It is also the ONLY reason Mariah Carey still hits the Top 40 but even she struggled for a while to regain another #1 hit. Celine has immense talent and she will FOREVER remain the BIGGEST SELLING FEMALE ARTIST IN THE WORLD. I believe that her CD will do even better in weeks to come. A lot of the artist that are around right now will never be able to match the talent that Celine Dion possesses. Today's music is more about looks than talent.

I agree completely. It's too soon to ask "What kind of future does Celine face?". She is respected by her peers and loved her fans. Some people hate her just because she's goody two shoes and no other reason. They should get a life.

I think now a days the media and people are more into rap r n b hip hop that pop just isn't in right now. Celine can do anything she puts her mind too she can rap she can dance she can sing she can bring you to tears. The music world needs to stop focusing on rap and hip hop and focus on all music. Celine is BEYOND having to worry about a future.

 

She's already a living legend---she has sold so many albums, she'll double that someday. Reaching #3 in the US is amazing.

Celine is in a good place now. She has absolutely NOTHING to have to prove. She's already sold more albums than any other female artist in history, she's had a extremely successful run of shows in Las Vegas and she's about to go out on a huge world tour to promote and EXCELLENT new album. She may not sell as many albums as she used to but that's hard to to for anyone nowadays. The music business is changing. You don't hear that much about Mariah, or Whitney anymore (well, with her it's for other reasons).

 

It's also hard to try and compete with a newer generation of artists. It's usually a losing game. You have to be tru to yourself. What I like is that Celine is happy about this English album. In fact on the sessions DVD she said that she usually has fun doing her French albums but not so much with her English ones but she felt that TC was the first English album that she was having fun making.

It's true, this album hasn't recieved the promotion it needs and that gets me mad . But as some of you have all said, Celine is happy for what she has and has done, nobody can top her. She's the top selling female artist, her FANTASTIC show in Las Vegas and next up, her World Tour, she has nothing to prove.

Are you kidding me with a question like this? LOL

 

I mean, I have many opinions and some doubts on Celine, but a question like this just doesn't make sense for her.

 

Although she's not on the cover of magazines, chased by papparazzi, being gossiped about nonstop, selling 30 million+ records like she used to in the 90s - her future is as bright as the sun.

 

There are so many people out there who has instant moments of fame, and yet forgotten the next moment. Celine's name and voice is known by people from all corners of the world.

 

"Taking Chances" between 3.5 & 4 million copies worldwide. Her World Tour has set world records. Singers, old and young, consider her a legend. People WANT to see her in concert. She's among the most revered artists in the industry. What we don't see on TV or in the newspaper is that Rene and his partners have to turn down endless requests for Celine to be involved in so many events and programs. Her music genre reaches the broadest audience ever. And so on...

 

I believe that ten years from now, she will still be selling out arenas and having that steady fanbase.

 

And future projects for her, including another Vegas run (which I'm sure will sell well), an acting career (an Oscar-worthy story of Maria Callas), more collaborations in future albums... she'll continue to be successful.

 

And maybe by the time she's 80, she'll be so rich, she'll buy herself a time machine that will turn her back to the Celine of 30 years old! LMAO ...and keep on singing!

As far as her personal life:

A baby - Relaxing in and decorating her new home in FL - spending time with family.

 

Professional:

It's safe to say she hit her commercial peak in the 1990s. But she will always still have tremendous success. I think her career in the future will consist of all of those projects she's put on the back-burner in order to keep pushing forward commerically. She will complete the Callas project. And that soundtrack album will be AMAZING. I see another French album in the not-so-distant future (2 or so years).

 

It's hard to say what she will be doing for her English career. There will be some buzz about the Callas project here - but not nearly as much as in French-speaking places.

Céline is an established act now. Just like singers as Barbra Streisand, she can make an album, have no hits and still sell enough to keep on making an album every few years.

Her future will be amazing. She is the best selling female singer ever. Here in the UK My Love Ulimate Collection got to #5 in the charts with hardly any promo for it.
