ajguerras Posted November 16, 2007 at 02:15 AM Posted November 16, 2007 at 02:15 AM A lot has been said about this , from technical mistakes till soulless presentations....But what could you say ? (I know that as fans we love it all.... but could you be objective ?) Quote I need someone to loves m like Celine loved René... And just like she sang in LTAL track # 16, I ask for that exact same thingwww.twitter.com/ajguerras
peo Posted November 16, 2007 at 02:55 AM Posted November 16, 2007 at 02:55 AM (edited) I love the song alot, but I don't know about you guy's, I don't like when Celine performs it live. Don't get me wrong, it might be because of the technical problems. But I LOVE CELINE ANYWAYS,nobody's perfect. changepas39 Posted November 16, 2007 at 03:04 AM Posted November 16, 2007 at 03:04 AM the oprah perfermance was better than the first live performance in europe...but there were still some issues... karatedude317 Posted November 16, 2007 at 03:43 AM Posted November 16, 2007 at 03:43 AM The today show performance was the best one You have to remember that this is a tough song to sing, and it is still new to her, it needs polishing but by no means does it sound bad. Bad is Star Academy, Oprah and the Today show were the best ones, Ellen's was ok too. In time I'm sure it will sound better. Hopefully by the time she tours and is at Nassau Coliseum where I'll be seeing her for the first time she'll have it perfect Quote
fabtasticfoo Posted November 16, 2007 at 03:50 AM Posted November 16, 2007 at 03:50 AM I thought the performances on Oprah, Ellen and especially Today were amazing: quite possibly the best promotional performances we've seen in a decade. Definitely better than any performance of That's The Way It Is, A New Day Has Come, I Drove All Night or Have You Ever Been In Love. Her vocal intensity has just been incredible. Quote
smw Posted November 16, 2007 at 04:23 AM Posted November 16, 2007 at 04:23 AM Ellen's the best so far..... ...but overall, she doesn't do this song well live. And she needs to sing other songs from the album. I hope we get two new performances for Jay Leno - or AT least one new song with Taking Chances. Quote
Jeffieboi Posted November 16, 2007 at 04:48 AM Posted November 16, 2007 at 04:48 AM The X Factor one was HORRIBLE...but at least in the Oprah one she was able 2 belt the high notes. I haven't seem the Ellen one yet. Quote
idroveallnight Posted November 16, 2007 at 06:14 AM Posted November 16, 2007 at 06:14 AM This is an extremely difficult song for anyone to even attempt singing. Celine does an amazing job delivering it though. She's just awesome. Quote

DjCeline Posted November 16, 2007 at 06:41 AM Posted November 16, 2007 at 06:41 AM i love the song but it seems that live, Celine doesn't perfom it well...yet... istill i liked it on the today show.that was her best performance so far of Taking Chances. sean83 Posted November 16, 2007 at 10:14 AM Posted November 16, 2007 at 10:14 AM I think, that Celine hasn't found her own style of performing Taking Chances, I think she stick to much to the studio version from the album, only thing she does is singing it in another pitch. Did you ever sing professional? I know it's sometimes hard and even harder, if you will sing a song like the "original"...I would leave the "yeah" in the chorus, that sounds a little additional not as if it's really necessary, she'd better sing the "floor" and "more" longer, without breathing again!? Quote
Andrei Dion Posted November 16, 2007 at 10:20 AM Posted November 16, 2007 at 10:20 AM I did like the live performance in Oprah, Today Show and Ellen. That one in UK was passable... Quote AMO CÉLINE CADA VEZ MAIS!!!
Lisi_Dion Posted November 16, 2007 at 10:23 AM Posted November 16, 2007 at 10:23 AM I love it most in star acadmey , it was prefect yeah because it was playback...... # The more often she sings this song the better she gets..... I think she sang it very well on The Today Show....She gave the song so much power although I think she can do it even better... adore2celine Posted November 16, 2007 at 10:33 AM Posted November 16, 2007 at 10:33 AM It would be a hard song to perform live !! But Celine can do it better and better than first time I saw her on X-factor Quote
blue.grave Posted November 16, 2007 at 10:39 AM Posted November 16, 2007 at 10:39 AM I thought the song was great. Celine got some time to tweak the song a little bit to truly own it. Quote For the joy of life, My passion for video gaming, and my Love for Celine Dion.
marckvls Posted November 16, 2007 at 11:10 AM Posted November 16, 2007 at 11:10 AM I definitely don't like her singing this song live.. She seems not to be able to reach that "Saaaay" note with perfection. All the times she had to do so much effort and it never looked like the album version. Quote Love comes to those who believe it...
firebird Posted November 16, 2007 at 11:35 AM Posted November 16, 2007 at 11:35 AM How much I like?Let's think# We've got four live performances on which she sang over pre-recorded track# She's like a riskfactor of the song, you'll never know what to expect - which can be quite entertaining# You get an idea how much post-production was necessary to make it sound as good as it does on the album Quote
celine.mydream Posted November 16, 2007 at 12:10 PM Posted November 16, 2007 at 12:10 PM I think The X Factor exhibition of TC was very baaad!!!....tech probs?! Hope so guys..however every one can get wrong..Celine too!!! but I liked very much ALONE live..not perfect for Celine standards but softer and easy-way..great! Quote

Elaine Posted November 16, 2007 at 12:34 PM Posted November 16, 2007 at 12:34 PM When I saw The X-Factor performance I started thinking that maybe it was not a good idea to have this song live, but then she became more used to it by lipping, until she felt ready to do it live again! I simply loved her performance at Oprah and at Today show! I'm so in love now with the live version of that song! Quote http://img807.imageshack.us/img807/1352/opo3.jpg

Krys Posted November 16, 2007 at 03:30 PM Posted November 16, 2007 at 03:30 PM i love the live performances! Celine does minor changes in the song everytime she sings it live. and i figured the "what do you say" part on X Factor is just the way Celine sings it. nothing wrong with it. its just subpar Quote

charmedceline Posted November 16, 2007 at 05:02 PM Posted November 16, 2007 at 05:02 PM Well, the first live performance I saw, was the one from X-Factor. I just watched it and didn't know what to think, because I've never seen such a vocally bad performance by Céline. I just thought that she had a really bad day. I mean that can happen to all of us. But then I saw the next live performances and I realised that she really has problems to hit the higher notes, not only with Taking chances, but also when she sang Alone and now on Oprah A new day has come. It makes me feel a bit concerned. But I think she just has a bad period. Then the other thing is the performance itself. You easily can tell that she doesn't move too much when she sings it live, because she is concentrating much more on the vocal performance then. But when she is doing playback, the performance is really powerful and great, like on Wetten , dass... So I don't think we can say anything bad about the performance itself. Quote
tonybower Posted November 16, 2007 at 05:30 PM Posted November 16, 2007 at 05:30 PM Like everyone, I was worried after hearing the X Factor performance. But when the hype died down I listened to it again... It really wasn't that bad... Especially not when compared to other singers. there were clearly technical problems that night, and Celine was tired and sick etc... the Oprah show was really good... and even if it wasn't perfect so WHAT?!? Celine has said herself that she leads the way now, not her vocal chords. That means she is less concerned about vocal control and technique which used to rule her life... Do you realise how much discipline and hard work was required to sing like she used to? She would go for DAYS without saying a word, didn't allow herself to eat certain foods etc... Obviously Celine has an exceptional gift but with that went severe self-control and perfectionism... I will miss her crystal-clear vocals like on Power of Love and Call The Man but I also embrace the new Celine... I think the new vocals are edgy and passionate... Of course it's a shame that she doesn't meet our high expectations like she used to, but she is almost forty, has been singing for 30 years and most importantly is a mother. And human... She isn't the goddess we all think she is and should be allowed to sing the way she wants to sing after such a demanding career. She satisfied all my expectations when she sand Le Blues Du Businessman in Paris. In the last couple of months I have come to appreciate how much responsibility Celine has to take with her every single time she steps on stage and just how much pressure we fans put on her without even realising it... Taking Chances was a shock at first but with each live performance it just gets better... I can't help but wish she had taken a longer break after Vegas before going on tour... Dionesque Posted November 16, 2007 at 11:29 PM Posted November 16, 2007 at 11:29 PM I read so many posts dissing the X Factor performance of "TCH"... Well, FINALLY today I got a time to watch the X Factor video and also the one from Ellen and Today Show (still haven't seen Oprah though) and I must say that X Factor wasn't THAT bad in my opinion. i clearly saw there were some technical problem, Céline looked really annoyed or disappointed at the end of the song plus she seemed to be sick and jetlegged. If you regard all this - it wasn't really that bad. My fave performance (vocally) so far was the one at Today Show but I have to say I really didn't like the light settings on that show - of course Céline is not the youngest one anymore but that lightning settings made her look even older.... But vocally she was really good. I can see she's really concentrated or even uncomfortable singing this song... Maybe because it's a difficult song, maybe because she still couldn't practice it much and feels uncomfortable and stressed everytime when performing it, esp. after not-so-perfect first live performances....? Maybe... Visually absolutely the best performance was the one at "Wetten, dass...?" but I must admit I prefer Céline standing still and singing live and uniquely than Céline dancing and jumping around to her own voice in playback!... Please guys, give her more time! I'm sure she'll get more practice on this song until the tour starts! It's really a difficult song... And as she said to a contestant on X Factor: even she personally is not always able to hit every high note and to hit them the same way all over again!!... Thanks God sshe's still a human and not a singing machine!
