Yahoo trashing Celine

In the UK Celine has such a bad reputation. People cannot admit to being a fan and, if they do, they have to apologise for it. It's unbelievable.

She gets no air play on the radio and very little positive media attention. All this because people have become so concerned with image and following trends. They would sooner watch an artist like Amy Winehouse stagger onto the stage late, insult the audeince and slur all her songs. Simply because she fits people's ides of what's 'cool' today. Similarly, Leona Lewis... I think Leona is great and have always said so. However, even though her new song is quite mid-tempo, she is only really known for singing ballads and love songs... Why is it then that she can dominate the airwaves and be admired openly by the whole country when Celine cannot. Could it be because she is young, beautiful... and British?! Whatever people want to say about Celine's music and the fact that she does not write songs NOBODY can deny that she has an incredible and unrivalled talent. I just hope this new FANTASTIC album earns her the respect she deserves...

If people from UK adore Leona so much, why they never wonder why Leona adores Celine very much. I'm glad she admits she loves Celine publicly.

I really don't know... It really annoys me... Celine and Leona fall into exactly the same category music-wise but whilst it's acceptable to like Leona it is not okay to like Celine... Even though her shows are selling out quickly and she still sells records there... I just don't know... sometimes feels like a witch-hunt... The UK public are very strange and love the fact that Leona won a talent show and want to help her succeed but it won't be long before they are relishing her downfall (if and) when it happens.

But it is good that Leona is open about her admiration for Celine... However, if is true about the comments she made abour record sales then my respect for her has all but vanished...

I have said this many times, but as soon as anyone gets any significant level of success there will be queues of people waiting in line to knock them back! Partly it's jealousy, and it's also about people feeling that tough is cool.

 

Celine is not tough, she is not rock and roll (in the conventional, about-to-end-up-in-rehab manner!) so, it must be OK to mock her! We are living in a culture where people think respect has to be earned (not true - everyone deserves to be treated with respect - admiration has to be earned - why do people always get that wrong?) So that's why the likes of Celine are ridiculed in the way they are. She's a nice person, and that leaves her vulnerable to some and adored by others.

 

Celine a quiet fanbase, but it is also HUGE! We are able to enjoy her music and enjoy her as a person without controversy, without conflict, without scandal, many people just don't understand that! That's more a testament to the messed up society we live in! We should ignore it, not rise to it and not add fuel to their destructive flames, it's really not worth it!
