celineangel7 Posted December 17, 2008 at 07:03 AM Posted December 17, 2008 at 07:03 AM I can't believe PQTME was cut sorry guys! I hope it isn't cut here or I will cry! It's the only French song I have ever dreamed of hearing because it's the only one I know all the words to and it's my favorite and her biggest French hit! I'd rather her lip songs instead of shorten the set list to save her voice.I hope the show starts on time. If it is shorter because of a late start, then that is understandable, but still I dished out every penny I had in my savings for Thursday, so I hope all goes well. Shorten something else so we get all of Celine. We are getting more snow each day still, but it will be warmer yay! Quote * December 18, 2008. 1st time ever in front row for a concert and it was with my idol Celine! Dream #1 accomplished. While singing a ballad the only time Celine looked at me was the time I had my sign up luckily! She stretched out her arm palm faced up while singing with even more emotion in her eyes when she saw it, so it seemed like it was just for me at that moment.Dream #2 accomplished with the extra bonus! She came and left on my side. I went out 1 row, held up my sign and she stopped, held it herself, and just looked at it with an awe expression on her face, stunned and amazed when she saw all the glitter! She looked me in the eyes with those beautiful brown eyes of hers she was tuned into me at that moment and didn't look away, again her looking so emotional as I said with a sincere look on my face to her "It took me 5 hours to make this." (could have been more not sure)She looked down and away very touched like maybe she wanted to cry then she HUGGED me!!!She held me for more than just a moment She really took her time! I said to her while about to cry from the hug, "I love you so much!" Then that was it I don't think she said a word to me. I was crying and saying omg all night with my heart racing and my mind in SHOCK from the unexpected hug and my eyes so sore from crying. I was ready to drop when I got home, but was so emotional I stayed up until 6:30 a.m.! Cried a little for a few days after. Sign and front row seat saved the day!Dream #3 accomplished... Me at :13 NOT my video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L62QJoUgN80
WindyCityCelineFan Posted December 17, 2008 at 07:16 AM Posted December 17, 2008 at 07:16 AM Concert was awesome...even though it started late, but that was because the audience was empty and Celine's crew decided to go on later to give everyone a chance to get to the United Center since the weather was horrible and the roads were slow going. Celine was very into the concert. She was very energetic and chatty. She apologized several times for cancelling the November show and that everyone had to come out on such a horrible weather night like tonight. She did cut PQTME, but hardly noticed since I was so excited to be so close to Celine. She received a couple standing ovations from the audience which she was so grateful for and seemed to energize her even more. The night went by so fast...I can't believe it's over.. I will post some of my pics and video soon. Quote

neilpharmd Posted December 17, 2008 at 11:11 AM Posted December 17, 2008 at 11:11 AM I thought I'd share this set list with you. After the show, I asked one of the stage hands near one of the pastarelles if it would be okay to keep it as a souvenir. As you can see, Celine didn't stick with the set list as "The Christmas Song" was not performed. CSCfan Posted December 17, 2008 at 12:20 PM Posted December 17, 2008 at 12:20 PM Snow-stopper: Dion dazzles lucky crowd that made it to the United Center CONCERT REVIEW | Magnificent voice soars in show rescheduled from Election Day December 17, 2008 BY BOBBY REED Super-diva Celine Dion opened her concert Tuesday night at the United Center with a rousing rendition of Cyndi Lauper's 1989 hit "I Drove All Night." That title could serve as a hyperbolic description of motorists' long journey through the slush-filled streets to arrive at the venue during Tuesday's snowstorm. The weather apparently affected attendance. Dion, 40, sang to quite a few empty seats, probably because some ticket holders who live outside Chicago chose not to battle the elements. Those who did make the trek were rewarded with vocal fireworks from one of the world's most athletic singers. The show was originally slated for Nov. 4 (which happened to be Election Day), but Dion had to postpone multiple concerts because in late October she was suffering from a recurrent naso-pharyngeal infection. Rescheduling the Chicago concert allowed Dion's fans to be home (or in Grant Park) for President-elect Barack Obama's historic victory speech six weeks ago. Tuesday night, Dion sincerely apologized to her fans for the show's postponement. She also praised Obama, exclaiming, "What a great president he is going to be!" Dion certainly showed no signs of illness. Her magnificent voice was the star of a razzle-dazzle revue that reflected the sequin-covered aesthetic of Las Vegas, the city where she did an extended residency from 2002 to 2007. Dion was at her best on ballads like "The Power of Love," which showcased her ability to nail a note and hold it -- with her jaw trembling and her right arm thrusting in the air, but her voice remaining steady. At times, the spectacle itself threatened to detract from that mighty voice. The production included seven musicians, three backing vocalists, eight dancers, several video screens, multiple costume changes and a stage consisting of ramps, moving sidewalks and sections that were raised and lowered throughout the night. It was very Vegas, baby, right down to cheesy opening act Gordie Brown, who impersonated Elvis Presley and other celebrities. Dion's version of the 1976 Eric Carmen hit "All By Myself" was a show-stopper that featured stratospheric vocals and then concluded with her doing a yoga-type move reminiscent of someone dancing under a limbo bar. At other times, the material wasn't on par with her powerful pipes. "Shadow of Love" and "Fade Away," both of which are from last year's "Taking Chances" CD, came across as generic light rock. Elaborate arrangements could not compensate for limp melodies here. Dion and backing vocalist Barnev Valsaint, however, sang a fine duet of "I'm Your Angel," a song that was composed by and recorded with controversial R&B star R. Kelly 10 years ago. Dion was at her most impressive when the music was scaled back to put the focal point on her clear, muscular voice. Some divas deserve that title due to their positive attributes. She's one of them. bsj1701 Posted December 17, 2008 at 02:01 PM Posted December 17, 2008 at 02:01 PM What a night! The show was great, I'm terrible at reviews, so I'll let someone else do that. I was dissapointed to read that "The Christmas Song" was scheduled to be performed, and wasn't. It would have been nice, especially since other songs were cut. I have lots of great stuff to upload, but I need to figure out how to do that! The weather was awful. I live 70 miles west of the United Center. From the time I left, to the time I got to my seat was 5 hours! We did not stop for dinner or anything. That was a non-stop trip! I am glad I left early. I missed the entire opening act, but saw all of Celine's portion! Brian Quote http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo169/b.../Animation4.gif
Edwin Posted December 17, 2008 at 02:37 PM Posted December 17, 2008 at 02:37 PM Thanks for the photos! It is too bad the weather affected the show in attendance and songs being cut, but it's good to see her look so amazing! And I'm pleased as punch to see that they did intend a christmas song after all! Maybe Minneapolis or Indinapolis will have it. Brian don't be shy about writing a review If there was an aspect or specific song that you really enjoyed let us know!! Quote
