- Does one's own perfume line influence the artistic image?

 

- You can believe me or not but I have never cared for my image. I have just let my life flow and bring me in what's next. My job is music. In the business of cosmetics I don’t have anything to loose nor to prove. It’s a comfortable situation which allows you to let your fantasy go and genuine feelings to come up.

 

- In the Caesar’s Palace commercial alley you can find a big boutique with souvenirs. Each one with your face on it. Face you see daily in the mirror is copied thousand of times. Isn’t that a little frightening?

 

- Why should I be afraid of the fact that people love me? I know that many of my fans buying those items won’t ever be able to see my show since they can’t afford it because either the show is sold out months in advance or they just don’t have the money. But they can gladly afford a T-Shirt or a photo. For those I have created the new fragrance. Surely a teenager will choose a T-Shirt with “I love Celine Dion” on it but her mother will want something more decent, discrete.

 

Céline on Vegas:

 

- (to the interviewer) You surely live in a hotel near the Strip. All you see are hordes of drunken gamblers, jagged prostitutes and ratted johns (OMG, Céline! hahahahaha) on each corner of the street. But it’s only a small part of Las Vegas. Do you know that apart from those “wedding chapels” in casinos there are normal churches here? That there are normal kindergartens and schools with high standard of education? That there are normal people and taxi drivers who fight against putting a brothel billboard on their car because they have a family and children and they’re ashamed of parking their car in front of their home with a sign like that? I performed here about 300 times already but I don’t strip nor do I dance at the stab. The audiences come and buy the tickets to my show nonetheless and they’re sometimes deeply moved by what they see. […] That is Vegas I can identify myself with.

 

- I live in a house 40 minutes from the city centre so it’s more or less normal… Life here forces you to be very self-controlled. This is a very dangerous place for a person that has both: money and stress. You only need to tip with your finger and you get served: alcohol, drugs, gambling. On private life:

One moment long I imagined I’d make him phone those 160 people tomorrow and thank each of them separately for coming. Then I broke out in tears.

 

On the future:

 

- In 2007 your contract ends. Fans are waiting for a big tounree through Europe. Perhaps you will sing in Warsaw, too?

- Sorry, but in 2007, c'est fini! God, that sounded like a drama. I didn’t intend to say I won’t be singing anymore, but show-buisness isn’t my whole life. I don’t have here any friends. It’s just a job. I’ve been on stage for 30 years and think that I worked enough. Some day I want to sit in the front seat of my own car – now I can’t, I have my own chauffeur. Can you imagine that in my life I haven’t had the keys to my home in my hands? Each time I approach the door, my bodyguard opens it. I don’t have a wallet – that’s the secretary’s job. I don’t have a credit card. I don’t even have any loose cash to put it into the street players’ case!

- Céline’s dreams?

 

- I dream of driving my son to school. I come back and prepare the lunch for my husband. Then I go to my garden to take care of the flowers. Is it that much?

I don't think Celine means she'll retire forever after 2007. she had said many times she won't give up music until she can't sing(of course this won't happen). I think she just mean she'll have a long break and try to have another child as she planned just like in 2000-2001. I think maybe this polish interviewer misunderstood her, or translate is wrong. it's just like in 1999 many press reported Celine will retire forever, but Celine herself explained it well later.

You guys still doubt it? She won't stop. Music is in her blood and soul... she can't change this, nobody can. She once said to Julie Snider that she loves to feel loved by people and loves to be on the spotlight cause this has been her life for more then 20 years. It's normal that she wants to stop and have a normal life and she deserves it. But she will come back, she always comes back.
