idroveallnight Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 I'm not looking forward to this song. The title is so tacky (just like "I Remember LA" *cough*...that was an excellent song though). We all know the last song of every album holds much significance and meaning, I just don't see a song with a connotation to Los Angeles having such an impact. Quote
Chin Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Unfortunately, I can't hear the full album...But I can't wait to hear comments from you guys tomorrow Quote
Javier_Natalio Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 I think it does have some meaning, even without listening to the whole song, in an interview the writer or producer, don't really remember who, said it talked about the sky of LA being filthy, and from the extracts we hear Celine searching for the light through that dark sky... time will tell if it's just a metaphore for a symbolic light or if it's an ambientalist song, in whichever case it sounds good. Quote
Hilda Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 oh i am in love with this song!! it does suggest the skies of LA are smoggy and shes trying to find the light/ purity/ humanity through the smog. and the song is just soooooooo gorgeous!!! "I dont know...." those bits.....uh,,, just so good. Quote
Ronny83 Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 AP: How does the guy who writes for Celine Dion write for people like Chris Brown and Young Joc, as well? The-Dream: I must have multiple personalities. Cuz somebody asked me a similar question like "Well, didn't you write 'Coffee Shop' for Yung Joc?" I'm like "Yeah." "Well, didn't you just write a song called 'Skies of LA' for Celine Dion? So what are you doing?" I'm like, "I don't know. To me, music is music. I'm just trying to do my thing."Source: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071213/ap_en_...q_a_the_dream_1 Quote The Celine Dion Italian fanbase - CelineDionItalia.com

MTJ Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 actually its about pollution. I love the song, I think its my favorite. In an interview they asked celine how she felt about singing a song like that (about pollution) and she said the thought it was great, but she hadn't realized it at the time, she just had thought it was a nice song. It's a sign of good lyrics when they can be so widely interpreted.... Quote
Allie Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 yeah that's what I was thinking too, and I've been to LA a lot and the sky is always smoggy and gross and stuff so I thought that's what that part meant. Quote
idroveallnight Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 ...And that she might be rich and succesful but she feels poor outside her successfull singing career in her family life....And nobody can help her fulfil her personal life even though she is loved by many peopleIf you're saying this as it pertains to Celine directly, then you're wrong. If you're saying this as it pertains to other famous people, then you're right. Celine is successful as an artist and as a mother & wife...she's said that a million trillion times so she definitely does not feel like she's had failure in her personal life. She put her career on hold for 2 years in 2000 to prove that and stayed permanently in Las Vegas for 5 more years if that's not proof enough. Read this excerpt from Oprah's magazine:Cancer was an incredible challenge for René to go through, and it allowed me to discover strengths that I had never before put into practice. I used to keep everything inside; today I speak up for myself. I pick my own songs. I'll tell a technician that I don't like the way he's lighting me. I've learned to say, This works for me…. That doesn't…. This is unacceptable…. This is how I'd like it to be done. At home I make decisions as a mother, and I communicate my feelings to my husband. The most important thing I learned, though, is that my life is so much more than show business. Over the years, a lot of people have asked me what I would do if I could no longer sing; it's amazing to me that they think I would lose everything. They don't know—and perhaps I didn't, until this time—that my inner voice is a lot stronger than my singing voice. I am a mother, daughter, sister, and wife, and now I know that if anyone I love ever needs me, I can take care of them. Quote
Black Kitten Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 i'm not normally into piano driven songs, but this one made all the difference. the lyrics are somewhat "true to its words" and at least celine brought something new to the table. not the best track off TC, but definitely one of its highpoints. Quote
MTJ Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 I really do wish this had been the single. Alone seems to be doing all right, but this song is a jewel. It fits into so many music genres and is just such a nice example of a toned down celine most people don't know. Quote
