Now that I've given it a few hundred listens, I can confidently say that this is my favourite Celine song yet! Not for the lyrics, but for the way she sings it. There are times when Celine sings and you can tell she's not feeling the song at the time b/c shes worried about melodies and notes but in THIS song, shes singing it like she wrote it and thats spectacular! It sounds like she just opened her mouth and this gorgeous song just fell out!

When I listened to the extract I thought it was ok, but now I love it... I love the 2nd half of the song. It reminds me 'Tous Les Blues Sont Écrit pour toi'.

 

and if the above is illegal I have no clue what to say about this. Child, child, child you're seriously misled.

 

And to everybody else: sure it is good, she sounds lovely but I can clearly see why this ain't on the album.

 

She actually manages to get away with the cheesfest lyrics. And the piano part in the begnning is simply wonderful, mysterious and I love the feeling. But what happens with it? How schizo isn't the production?! after 2 minutes the calm nicey feeling instantly drops into a way too early climax which isn't just a bridge but a totally different song.

 

Clearly the producer couldn't decide which direction to go and went ALL, and that's just gets messy. Too many things going on, too many styles and interpretions, I don't know where to begin to try and make this a decent track which wont make all your senses explode at once.

 

This is an audible overdoze.

Glad my first listen is the full version. The track is so unlike her previous songs, love the bluesiness (is that a word? ), tone and especially the guitars at the end. The second half is the best part, this should be on the album!!

I completely disagree. Look Tous les blues sont écrits pour toi. This is typicaly the kind os song that goes into different directions, with unexpected outbursts.

Map to my heart has a nice instrumentation. Celine is rocking the vowels with a bluesy grain (boys, guitars), use a lot of modulations, and even mimics some alicia key's signature syncopated notes (at 3'57"). This is definitely better than the bland World to believe in. However, I tend to agree that the fast paced middle of the song is a bit messy and screaming....

I kinda agree with you. The change is too abrupt. It feels like simple stick 2 totally different songs together with no bridge. But I get used to it after many listens, cause I know when to expect the dramatic change. I think the song is not easy for the first listens.
