PuraVida Posted April 19, 2020 at 04:51 PM Posted April 19, 2020 at 04:51 PM No, not timeless just more of a Celine hit without being a “hit” If the average person did know Falling Into You, the world would be a much better place 2 Quote
Nmj Posted April 19, 2020 at 05:54 PM Posted April 19, 2020 at 05:54 PM If the average person did know Falling Into You, the world would be a much better place I think that they do, at least the 90s crowd, FIY was her most successful English album, I think most people know the “filler” songs. She ready should take advantage of the fillers from that album in a live show, she underestimates them. In the 90s people bought and listened to the entire album not like today. They may have bought it for IACBTMN, BYLM and ABM but they listened to all the tracks. 2 Quote

I am so upset that she never used the song "Falling Into You" during the New Day show...it totally, totally fit the vibe! And with all of those dancers!!! She used the Spanish guitar on "Seduces Me" and FIY has a very similar vibe somehow to Ammore Annascunnuto (imo). ugh! Edited April 19, 2020 at 06:01 PM by PuraVida 1 Quote
Critiaslux Posted April 19, 2020 at 07:36 PM Posted April 19, 2020 at 07:36 PM What other ones besides The Prayer did you have in mind that are still "successful"? The only other comparable one I can think of is To Love You More...and maybe I Surrender? Those two indeed: To Love You More for this violin duet. Very unique and classic pop crossover type somehow. However the song is less known in Europe I would say. I Surrender is another go to for singing contest. It is just a pop-rock ballad gem, pretty much like Cher's If I Could Turn Back Time or Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart IMO. And for her French career, I would think primarily to S'il Suffisait D'aimer - in 1998/1999 I was underwhelmed by its charting position (#4) on French charts (and #6 in Belgium) whereas the melody sounded like this was the new "L'Hymne à l'amour" - maybe because the whole1998 was still under the MHGO over powering shadow. It has since become this timeless hymn. Retrospectively you would have thought it had reached #1 easily. 2 Quote
Critiaslux Posted April 19, 2020 at 08:35 PM Posted April 19, 2020 at 08:35 PM The original solo versions from the Quest for Camelot animated movie that I remember having watched at the cinema just to hear Céline's song (we were maybe 2 or 3 persons at the screening ): Celine's part which was featured in the movie (when the hero's mother was singing) Andrea's part (in Italian) was at the closing credits. Critics were very harsh on Céline's at that time: the songs (sung by Celine Dion and Steve Perry, among others) are Vegas-pop wallpaper. yep yep that's how Entertainment Weekly talked about a timeless song in the making https://ew.com/article/1998/05/22/quest-camelot-2/ 2 Quote

From what I can tell, they are identical save for like one or two lines...one of which is "every mother's prayer" is belted on the soundtrack version. Quote

jpatdeleon09 Posted April 27, 2020 at 09:21 PM Posted April 27, 2020 at 09:21 PM (edited) was it even a success? I don't know.. but i know i have watched it when i was a kid EDIT So, "Quest for Camelot" was produced by Warner Bros. Feature Animation while "Prince Of Egypt", it was produced by DreamWorks Animation. Guess who will have more success. Of course, it's DreamWorks Animation. So... Quest for Camelot didn't do well. Only the song "The Prayer" won in Golden Globe Awards for Best Original Song. Maybe if Quest for Camelot was under DreamWorks... IT WILL BE SUCCESSFUL and The Prayer will definitely win on Oscars. Meryl Streep approved! LOL https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV13E411M7eo?from=search&seid=6785170222224459939 Edited April 27, 2020 at 09:30 PM by jpatdeleon09 1 Quote
Critiaslux Posted May 3, 2020 at 06:15 PM Posted May 3, 2020 at 06:15 PM I believe the first 3 performances of this song, in 1998 and 1999 were: - During her Christmas special, These are special times, on 25 November 1998.https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1h7411H7oK/?p=8 - The 1999 Grammy awards ceremony - famous as for the rehearsal, Andrea could not make it, and a 17 year old boy had to step in on the spot: Josh Groban https://youtu.be/kBpLfammBBQ I wish one day we could see the whole video of the rehearsal recorded by Josh's father:https://youtu.be/qiHDlwYRmDE - And my favorite: the 1999 Academy Awards ceremony. The famous ceremony where Celine wore the Dior tuxedo backwards Celine and Andrea looked and sang like singing royalties.https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV13E411M7eo/ Thanks jpatdeleon09 for this link. We have the performance from A to Z with the Catherine Zera-Jones introduction whereas on youtube the whole video could not be found. Great catch! 1 Quote
