I`m actually thinking of going to the NYC parade this year (after living here for 5 years, I`ve never been :P)

and I`m still deciding on a costume...maybe a lady pirate arrrg! :giggle: What are you guys going to dress up as if you are dressing up at all?

Is the parade on the 31st? I live a block away from where it starts and I've never been :lol:

 

I dont think I'm dressing up this year. I used to love it and I still kind of do, its just that everyone here dresses like a freaking slut and I really hate that (as you know Kathy, cause I complained to you about it already lol). I always like to do something creative or with really extravagant make up, but everyone else just wants to dress up as a slutty nurse. :glare:

If Tara and I go, which I think we might because Tara is a Buffy freak and I think they`re doing some songs from the musical episode 'once more with feeling', you should come! I think its on the 31st...I haven`t even looked it up lol. I definitely know how you feel about the slutatious costumes though...a pirate (with PANTS and not a skirt just below my #ss lol) seems cool, I could do some crazy makeup :)

Tal... I completely agree! Girls around here (and everywhere) are the same way... Halloween is just an excuse to be sluttier than normal for them.

 

However, I LOVE Halloween! I don't like looking like all of those girls, so I never buy my custumes... I piece them together myself. This year I am going to be Mother Nature. I wonder if anyone will know what my costume is...

This year I'll be wearing nursing scrubs on Halloween because I'm working that day.

 

In the past though, two of my favorite costumes was when I dressed up as Michelle Kwan my freshman year of college, and Miss America my sophomore year of college.

 

For my Michelle Kwan costume, all I had to buy was a filmy looking skirt. Then I work a spaghetti strap inside and a Kimono top on the outside which I tied at the waist Then I had a medal that I got from doing community service in high schook, so I used that as a figure skating type medal. Then I drew and cut out skates on white posterboard and then strung laces through them and I safety pinned the skates to my top. Then my friend did my hair and her roommate did my makeup.

 

Sophomore year when I dressed as Miss America, I just wore my old prom dress and bought a tiara. I made a sash out of paper. That year my friend once again did my hair and my roommate did my makeup.

Ok so I work adjacent to a costume store (Rickys). There is a freaking flat bed truck parked outside with a girl in a slutty costume dancing on it to promote the store. I think she's dressed up as slutty pirate :rolleyes:

I liked the movie Ratatouille. :wub: Comes out on DVD on November 9th in the states. :thumbsup2:

I have a Halloween party tonight and I still don't know what I'm wearing. I also piece my costumes together myself. It's really depending on the weather tonight because we have an outdoor scavenger hunt.

My sister's been trying to find ways to get festive by scaring me. :rolleyes:

She bought two freaky helium balloons and makes them float in midair in certain places to freak me out... and it works. Scares the friggin' crap out of me. :mdr: And she jumps out of places to scare me, and she's trying to make me watch a horror film with her and her husband. T_T
