Al Gore get's Nobel Peace Price

This news made my day today. What a punch in the face for Bush and his "clima"-politics and what a great message concerning climate change. BTW he shares this prize with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (Part of the UN)

Oh come on. When The netherlands are flooded you will come to Germany and there won't be any peace :)

No really. destroyed environment >>> no possibility to grow wheat >>> not enough nutrition >>> search nutrition somewhere else >>> war

but seriously... I think someone who's put himself or herself for equal rights, fighting child labour etc is a better candidate then Gore... or Bononono :vomit:

Good for him. :thumbsup2:

Global warming is a big concern. I should join the U.N. and make this our top priority. :D

When the trees are green and the sky is blue and the fishes dance happily in the harbour of Scheveningen, there will be peace on earth :)

I think he did a great job bringing this issue into public consciousness. He made a lot of people aware that climate change is a serious issue, and not just a pastime of longbearded beer drinking biology students and Woodstock veterans.

Well it's a begining :glare:

He deserved it all the way for making it a political issue. Ppl wouldn't care without his efforts. NO matter if he is being too political on this. His intentions count and it pays off (literally).

Not a lot really. Unless you think of the fact the world will be thrown into utter chaos if Gore's worst case scenario pans out. Which it won't, not for thousands of years. Because global warming is a theory. And not fact. And I'm sick of having it shoved down my throat all of the time. It's quite interesting that a British judge recently ruled that An Inconvenient Truth was full of inconvenient half-truths and that many of the claims made in it were just hyperbolic theories.

But good for Al Gore. I think everyone should be aware of the impact their lavish living is having on our planet. But Florida isn't going to flood tomorrow. Or next week. Or a decade from now. Or even 100 years from now. Any suggestion that it is is just scaremongering. Scare the foolish into jumping onto a cause just because it's "cool" and all the "cool" celebs are hyping it.

So yeah... Al Gore Nobel Peace Price winner. Sod the people working tirelessly to bring about peace in Darfur, the rest of the troubled areas in Africa, and the Middle East.

The Nobel Peace Prize is not a competition.

This is an honorable award given to someone in the world who is making a difference for humanity.

Each person or organization who makes a big difference in our world will have their time to be honored and glorified. However, I do not think that being honored is the primary reason why they fight and support these causes for humanity.

The Nobel Peace Prize is supposed to go to those who "have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses". I don't think somebody who makes a movie about climate change deserves this. But then I guess the award became a joke back in 1994 when they gave a terrorist, Yasser Arafat, the award. They should rename the award "The Nobel Prize For Doing Nice Things For Mankind" because it's little about bringing about/promoting peace these days. But I get it... there is so much conflict in the world these days. Where's the peace? Edited by incognito
