Chrysler screw it up, not Celine. It was mentioned in many marketing magazines that Celine's notoriety is bigger than the brand she was promoting... so consumers end up buying her music but not the vehicle... What a shocker!!!

You guys are missing the point. It's not that it's Honda, it's the fact that the album could be attached to another ad campaign. Makes her greedy...and opportunistic.

As much as I love Celine, I'm not crazy about her being associated with selling cars. Perfume? Fine

Clothes? Great, but cars? The Chrysler campaign was a disaster. The actual TV ads were done well but I knew that they would not be received well since lets face it, Celine has a polarizing image. People either love her or tend to hate her (I'm sorry to say). Luckily we love her.

 

At least Honda is a very good company that makes a great product.

 

They are a far cry from one of the cars she owns called a Maybach which is basically a very expensive Mercedes Limo with a beautiful interior like a living room. I think they cost about 500,000 dollars. She's certainly earned it.

"Some Sony-BMG artists will be used in an advertising campaign for Honda Civic. The initiative includes music videos from a broad number of label artists: Avril Lavigne, Christina Aguilera, Céline Dion, Bruce Springsteen, Dido and Alicia Keys will be among those involved. Those videos will be distributed across more than 100 destinations. The deal is worth between $500,000 and $1 million to Sony BMG and the artists, and it were subscribed, sealed and signed some days ago. The arrangement is also involving the video-focused Sony-BMG Music Box device."

I think the point is that radio sells fewer and fewer albums, so everyone's trying to scramble to find a way to get their stuff played in as many different places as possible. I mean look at how most songs featured in commercials jump right to the top of the itunes charts.

I'm not really a fan of Honda's or Toyota's or Nissan's... but HEY, this features more than just Celine and it's just for the Civic. This is a great promo opportunity. I seriously doubt that "Taking Chances" will be a Honda album.

Ya, I laughed my #ss off when I read that

I don't think we should worry to much about this. I think the deal is made with SonyBMG, not with Celine, like with Chrysler. With Chrysler it was OK because she had long history with them and a nice story to it: she said she learnt how to drive on a Chrysler and that's why she agreed to promote it.

Celine does very little advertising when you think about it, compared to other artists. When she does, it's because there's a story to connect her to the product. Like she did ads for Coke Light, cause it's Rene's favourite drink.
