They so should rename Vegas 'Las Celine'

I agree! I would move to Celine land! That city was pretty much dead before she decided to go there, and now everybody that's anybody wants their own show, their own little something in Vegas. Still, no one manages to get their little something there, cause they don't have the star power to attract to many people. I don't know about calling the city Las Celine, but they should at least change the name into the Celine Dion Colosseum. It's not that hard and she's earned it. Not to mention they built the Colosseum especially for her show. There won't be another entertainer in our life time that could bring so many people there or anywhere else, for that matter.

 

Yeah! I totally agree! The colesseum should be named after her!!!

 

Dion will make a special appearance to accept the award at an evening reception on Dec. 13 at 6 p.m.

 

Maybe we could change something about our dinner on December 13th...

Celine To Receive 'Entertainer of the New Millennium' Award!

On December 13, Celine will be honoured by the Nevada Commission on Tourism as 'Entertainer of the New Millennium'. Celine has been chosen as the recipient of the award not only because of her Las Vegas show, but also because Celine has helped make a difference in the lives of Nevada residents through her contributions to local Las Vegas-based charities. Congratulations Celine!

A sentimental Celine Dion said she will forever remember Caesars Palace as the site of her son's first steps. "And his first potty training," she told the Governor's Conference on Tourism on Thursday at Caesars Palace. Gov. Jim Gibbons presented Dion, whose 41/2-year run at Caesars Palace ends Saturday, with the newly created Nevada Entertainer of the New Millennium Award. The award recognized Dion for "entertaining millions and changing the lives of all Nevadans through her commitment to philanthropic giving." Nevada first lady Dawn Gibbons gifted Dion with a Nevada-mined turquoise necklace.

 

Dion told the gathering she will miss her life in Las Vegas and thanked her husband/manager Rene Angelil for "taking the big gamble." "As you know, my husband is a gambler, and I'm glad he is," she said. Angelil couldn't be happier, either. He won more than $1 million in a $100,000 buy-in no-limit Texas hold-em poker tournament this week at Caesars Palace.
