Hey everyone...I am not sure if this has been posted on another page so my apologies in advance if it has...but on EW.com under Pop Watch...there is a section devoted to which single the editor likes better, Celines Taking Chances or the new Mary J Blige single. Its very interesting. Check it out.

I haven't heard the single by Mary, so I go for Celine. :in_love: But I like Mary too... she's been through a lot and overcame all of it and came out strong :clap:

 

OK, I just listened to "Just Fine" and it is :blink:

This is VERY good!

 

The writer kind of represents the general public as a whole...and he kind of makes it "okay" to like her new song. B)

It's just incredible that Celine's new material is getting so many positive reviews from the media. But have you guys read the comments at the bottom of the article? The majority of them do indeed prefer "Taking Chances," over MJB's new single. What's even better is that many of the responses were from regular music listeners--not Celine fanatics like us! That means that a lot of it was unbiased and truthful. Not to say that we aren't to judge, but I mean, come on; with us being Celine-crazy, we're destined to just COMPLETELY LOVE everything Celine creates (a little over-exaggerated, but you guys get my drift).

 

Point being that if TC is already getting so many positive reviews from just the general public, the new album is bound to do well. And in all honesty, I think Celine should stick to this new contemporary style. I read a review which stated that TC was compared to stuff by Kelly Clarkson. That's a good thing, in my opinion. It's contemporary AND yet still maintains integrity. What more could you ask for?

And about AK "No one"...I'm just digging the one version feat. Q Da Kid... the normal version is way to repetitive

The thing is, Celine is "coming back" with a new and fresh sound. Mary J Blige she used to start with that drama rhythm and blues, vocally somewhere inbetween Whitney Houston and Tom Waits - took you to get used to it, but rather distinctive, now she's doing this: Teen-bobber lyrics and worn out lounge-blues meets hip-hop music. Alicia Keys, she's still got her young girl on the piano writing her own great bluesy radio material (aka Falling) bonus. Just give her a few years or a few albums more and she'll be in desperate need to reinvent herself (just like Celine is doing now, quite successfully).

I haven't heard Mary's single, but I can say that Céline's is better cause she's better than anyone! :giggle:

But what I have to say is: I really love the way people who didn't like Céline are putting her up. They really finally saw that she's not only the MHWGO singer!! Loved it! Thanks for sharing!! :clap:

The best article ever. Go celine, Mary's song is so irrating so much I cant stand her voice at all. No song can compare to Taking Chances. Her song is amazing. Best song ever it's edgy and rocky. :yes: :w00t: :clap: :clap:
