nickah79 Posted October 7, 2007 at 05:40 PM Posted October 7, 2007 at 05:40 PM I've heard, but have not seen, that there is at least one different version of ATW and that it has "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" on it. It was released in ... I don't know. I could never understand why this song wasn't on all versions of ATW. When I was 10, it was played on the radio constantly from what I can remember. Did it not do well on the charts? Maybe they saved the song so it could end up on "The Collector's Series: Volume I." Quote
Love, Posted October 7, 2007 at 05:48 PM Posted October 7, 2007 at 05:48 PM Sony Music Japan is really striking the iron while it's hot. They've released the "Tribute to Celine Dion" CD with an Anime version of Celine on the cover, and now this new special edition with the exact same cover, but garnished with gold trims. At the same time, there is that message from Celine to say "Hello, Japan" probably airing on TV. And then, soon there will be a release of "TAST" Special Edition, the "Taking Chances" single, and the "Taking Chances" album. This is a BLITZ: This is a win-win situation for Sony Music and for Celine, especially in a highly industrialized and prosperous economy that Japan has - and the people has spending power. They're doing all this in one season? I think it's amazing. P.S. Yes I do think that putting the CBS Special on a Special Edition of ATW is a good idea. However, there is too much red tape that Sony Music has to go through before every release... so maybe that's a possibility why they didn't do it... or maybe they didn't think of it. Quote

fred Posted October 7, 2007 at 06:15 PM Posted October 7, 2007 at 06:15 PM Fred, I don't find your comments to be funny or warrented at all. The television special was something that not everybody has seen. There are new fans that come along each and every year. Adding the television special would be a nice touch. Not to mention including the songs that never aired. And as for the TAST re-release, I think it's nice to finally have the CBS special on DVD. It's in higher quality than a VHS copy, it includes the songs that never aired (at least in the US), etc. This item does in fact include rare highlights including never-before-seen photos and as I just mentioned deleted songs. If you can't say something nice, here's a thought, don't say anything at all. ...Joe... Joe, there are hard core fans here that haven't even heard Unison - shall we write a petition to sony to make them re-release that album and promote it all at new for them too?? And I said to myself I wouldn't get into another discussion about pointless releases for while but the way some people here is welcoming this "new" TAST ed is only answering the question about why not sony releases all that rare stuff (unreleased tracks, unreleased live concerts (English LTAL tour), Millennium Concert) - because they think they can treat us like fools and give us stuff we already have and get away with it. And they do get away with it! How? Simply by changing the packaging from normal cd-case to digipack and voila the SCF:s go bananas! And Joe, in case you haven't noticed, I ain't shutting up. /fred Quote Peace and love to all.
firebird Posted October 7, 2007 at 06:42 PM Posted October 7, 2007 at 06:42 PM Sure, it's promotion season chez Sony. They do this everytime Celine is to release a new album: release her old albums (well at least the Sony Nice Price campaign was good for small budget fans), put them into different and ohmigodizsodigipakstylish packaging or put three of them together in a boxset. It's a clear strategy: while waiting for the new album, why not complete your Celine back catalogue collection?! Quote
Elaine Posted October 7, 2007 at 07:05 PM Posted October 7, 2007 at 07:05 PM (edited) Useless release if you ask me... It has nothing really different... CDI Posted October 7, 2007 at 09:53 PM Posted October 7, 2007 at 09:53 PM God, you think with a special edition like that they would have at least added something new, a new pic even somewhere, they really know how to rip people off!!Or instrumentals! I think they should add intreumentals and instrumental remixes!!! Or even better: intrumentals of the instrumentals remixed with the remixes of the remixed instrumentals!!!!!!!!!!! CLAP CLAP TONGUE TONGUE FLOWERS WELL Thats an idea, it would be alot better than adding Gold print to the cover.. its like... FANS FANS!, Pay another £16 and we'll give you an additional print colour on an album you already have!, makes no sense to keep re-releasing stuff people already have, maybe on a 10th Anniversary but for god sake add something new! or as you say an Instrumental lol, they love these in Japan! And Joe, in case you haven't noticed, I ain't shutting up. /fred First, I have no idea where the "Unison" thing came from. To my immediate knowledge I don't recall ever asking fans to write a petition or sign one to Sony to make this album becom re-released. Secondly, your second paragraph is flawed. The re-release of TAST did include rare material that wasn't released prior. The packaging includes pictures that were not released in the previous version. Also, the DVD includes the performances to songs that were not included in the American (and possibly international) airing of the CBS special. Also, this CBS special was not readily available to fans to purchase. The only way to obtain this special was to either record it at low quality via a VCR or other device at the time or eventually purchase an ILLEGAL bootleg off of eBay. As for your SCF comment, I don't think that the "scary Celine fans" as you put it are going bananas because of the digipack case. I believe that they are "going bananas" because of the DVD, the never-before-seen photos of Celine, and the wonderful article by Mr. Taylor of Billboard Magazine. Lastly, I never told you to shut up. I only mentioned that it's good to take the advice of the cliché saying, "If you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all." ...Joe... Quote

Is there really any point in me explaining where that Unison thing came from? It was a rhetorical queston which answered your argument to why the CBS special should be released - for newly hatched fans. And you can go on using the word "rare" as much as you want considering that release, it still doens't make it rare. And even though I take your word for it, that the concert was even shorter than it is in this release when it was aired in the US it still sounds too wierd - how could it be any shorter? Take more than 2 - 3 performances out and it is no longer a show, but a commercial. And those never-before-seen photos which according to you make the SCFs go bananas - how many are there? And is that price reasonable for just one or two new photos? And I really don't see this discussion leading anywhere. Anything you seem to bring up as an argument to defend that release only makes my point clearer. And Joe, I ain't appying clichés either... /fred Quote Peace and love to all.

And Joe, I ain't appying clichés either... /fred :sigh: Unison was an album that was always readily accessable to purchase through multiple outlets (Amazon.com, Best Buy, Wal*Mart, etc.). The DVD for TAST, however, was never accessible for purchase before. There's no way around that. By releasing the Collector's Edition of TAST old and new fans are able to purchase a concert that was a major milestone in Celine's career. As for the "rare" comment, see above. I've explained over and over that this special was never available for purchase except through ILLEGAL bootlegs on eBay. This does in fact mean it was rare. You can slice it anyway you want, but it's the truth. As for the songs that were cut from the US airing these included "My Heart Will Go On," "Because You Loved Me," "Let's Talk About Love," and "The Power Of Love." I don't clearly remember if Andrea's "Ave Maria" and/or Celine's "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" were cut, though. However, the others I mentioned I distinctly remember not airing. How did CBS do this? They filled the void with commercials as any other channel would do. To touch on the photo comment...I don't think the price that is being charged is reasonable for just the photos. However, the price that's being charged isn't just for the photos. It's for the album, for the DVD, and for the packaging. In my comment I also said that the "SCFs" were probably going bananas over the pictures AND the DVD. And finally I don't see how any of the points I've made make your argument clearer. If anything I feel I've done just the opposite. ...Joe... there are maybe different versions (which I thought was a good idea!) there's the french with ABM on it, the Japanese with BTM, Australian version with FIY, European one with TT, and the canadian and american one with IYAMT...
