Recommended Web Hostings

Well it's that time in my life... It's time for me to switch servers for my website so that the media files will start working again. They haven't been working for over a month now causing my website to lose a lot of visitors. :angry2:

My current host (which is free - typical) made the size of each file limited to 2MB (it used to be 100MB). I can't do anything with 2MB... :glare: Also they haven't transferred any of my previous files onto their supposedly "new and improved server". So basically none of my previously uploaded files that used to work prior their "time out" are no longer there for downloading... Some of you may have noticed if you've been to Celinerific lately.

So I finally convinced myself to activate my credit card... DANGER! Now I'm looking for some afforadable web hosting. A few GB of disk space and a few GB of bandwidth. I found one here that seems pretty good, but I'm not totally sure if it's a good choice, being I've never bought hosting plans or anything before. :whistling:

Anyway... I was hoping some of you more experienced with purchasing things online (leaning more to the webmasters/mistresses) could give me some of your recommended web hosts. ^_^ Thanks a bunch in advance! :D

I'm not asking for help with my website but simply help with spending some money. :giggle:

I'll be online momentarily and briefly throughout this week. I'm swamped with endless business meetings and projects.

However the time that you'll catch me online is really late my time... which is during the time that you're in your second or third dream. LOL

I recommend Go Daddy, but I must let you know that I don't have any of my websites hosted on their servers.

I host a lot on Doteasy, but that costs more than Go Daddy.

From what I've read, godaddy isn't too reliable. They are kinda new to hosting.

I shall take your word for it, because I always known Go Daddy as a domain registry. A friend of mine purchased a domain and hosting package through them. I was even thinking of purchasing one through them just to try it out, but I remained on the safe side and just stuck with Doteasy.

Great info guys! I appreciate it a lot. :D I'll look more into it and I'll tell you if I've made any final decisions. More recommendations are still welcome though. ^_^

I'm liking your Doteasy suggestion, but it's making me transfer my domain over to them to... something I'm not looking into doing. :ermm:

If you do order through Doteasy... Let me know.

I have an affiliated link. I get $ for referrals... :giggle:

And the good thing about Doteasy is: THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Awesome! :D

ALSO! They're based in Canada. :)

Awesome! I signed up for a "testing" at a site I found on my site's server. So, if it's good I'll stick with this one, if not, then I might switch over to Doteasy. :thumbsup2:

I don't know what to do. I don't understand how I can transfer everything from my old server onto my new one. I'm so confuzzled.

You need to download everything from your old server and backup everything into your hard drive.

I think the transfer service that they are referring to is only the domain name transfer - not file transfers.

You need to contact the hosting company directly.

If they don't respond, then I recommend that you don't stay with them, because you need the best customer service possible when doing something like this.

I mainly just want somewhere to host my media files.

Mmkay... I cancelled my services with the site I tried out. It sucked. Anyway. I realize now that all I really need is somewhere to upload my media files (being audio and video) and being able to access a link to that file so that I can post it on my website so that people can download it. I'm not asking for much, you know? It's so hard to find what I need though. :glare:

I found an amazing web host called Bluehost! It's a little more expensive and I don't quite have the means to purchase anything from there quite yet. But if someone signs up for it through my referral, it'd be of great, great help to me because I get comission. ^_^

What does it have?

- 300 GB Disk Space

- UNLIMITED Domains.

- 2,500 POP/Imap Email Accounts

- 3,000 GB of Transfer

- SSH (Secure Shell), SSL, FTP, Stats

- CGI, Ruby (RoR), Perl, PHP, MySQL

- 2000/2002/2003 Front Page Extensions

- Free Domain Forever!

- Free Site Builder

- 24/7 Superb/Responsive Sales/Support

All for just $6.95/month (on a 2 year plan or $7.95/month on a 1 year plan)!

And honestly, I tried out their demo login. Everything is very organized and easy to use. The tech support is amazing and is available at your fingertips 24/7! I can't wait to get enough money to switch over to this server. :D

Edit: Referer link removed. It's not allowed to post referrer link.
