Petition for an A CAUSE cd maxi single from Sony/Columbia

This is a petition for SONY MUSIC / COLUMBIA to release a CD MAXI Single for CELINE DION's newest single from her D'ELLES album, "A CAUSE."

Us Celine Dion fans at the Celine Dion forum feel that a maxi single with club remixes, an instrumental version, and perhaps a single version of the song would be a benifit for CELINE DION and we would like to see her climb charts with this single.

You saw that the single ET S'IL N'EN RESTAIT QU'UNE (JE SERAIS CELLE-LA) was a SMASH in Europe and Canada. Now we want the same with A CAUSE, except with a MAXI single.

Please vote, and perhaps we can make a difference. This plan is quite possible.

Suck it up.

This could actually happen since it is scheduled to hit radios pretty soon. We all know that Sony is a day late and a dollar short for putting out Celine's singles, and they are guilty of not pushing French singles.

This is not asking her to shoot a video for I SURRENDER and to sing at someones high school. Be kind, people on the english forum here are so critical, even with people that all have Celine in common.

It's a question of whether or not you want A CAUSE to be a maxi single. If you don't, then simply go on to another post. Commentary is not always necessary.

For Sony to release a Maxi single with remixes, they would already need to have DJs lined up to remix the track and honestly, I don't really think they're looking to invest that much more money into "D'elles" at this point. They had a strong initial push with "Et s'il n'en restait qu'une" which was great for sales right out of the gate. We got three beautiful editions of the album (standard, deluxe, and limited edition) which is more than we could've asked for. At this point, any singles that are being released are merely to keep Celine on radio and continue the already stellar sales of the album. They're not looking to do a big promo push for it anymore because they really don't have to.

And while I'll never turn down the opportunity to get a cool Maxi Single release from Celine, I would MUCH RATHER Sony put their efforts into promoting/pushing/releasing "Taking Chances," wouldn't you? (Not to mention the fact that Maxi-Singles with Remixes are mostly a thing of the past -- now we just get the single with remixes on iTunes.)

I value your opion, Tim, and thanks for not being rude.

While I agree with what you say about the English album, I also think it's too soon to give up on D'ELLES. While "Immensite" is a great song, it's not great single material.

We all know that Sony's in it for the money, too. No doubt.

And for CD maxi singles to be a thing of the past, that makes me cry, as I hate the days of downloads. lol

If I may explain myself, "suck it up" is an American/ Anglophone phrase that means "Get over it." There's nothing vulgar or obscene about it. One of the many problems with language barriers, sadly. If I offended anyone, then I apologize.

I quote from my English argo book:

Phrase: "Suck it up." Means: Get over it, or suggesting do deal with something stressful.

1) It means an oral act. 2) To a mod or a member to tell "get over it" is rude as well. Better to keep silent and go on than comment on someone else's opinion that way.

Excuse me? Being rude like you telling ppl to "suck it up" if they don't like something you posted? It's your petition, ppl may comment on it and decide whether to sign or not. Just go on, ignore the opinions you don't like but let them be expressed and not comment on them in such way.

Usually I'm not into petitions kind of stuff but this one I'll gladly sign and I welcome you for the idea :flowers: even though I doubt that it will do any good. Since the album came out I prayed that people in Sony would wake up and release A cause single remixes and video but as the time goes by I'm more and more sure that A cause will be available only as a digital single, if even that. I'm really sad cause of the great opportunity for this single but once again we got nothing. Yes, yes, we got 3 different editions of D'elles (which aren't that special btw) but their lack of interest in singles promotion is unforgivable. Thay couldn't even release Immensite with at least instrumental version or something... As I said, nice thought and I'll sign it but...like most petitions on the web, this one won't make any difference at all  .

Good point, friend! lol

I do welcome the idea of an Itunes single, too. I think some pretty cool club mixes could be made with this song. Her french career is very limited with dance mixes, if my memory serves me correctly, I can only recall "Je ne veux pas" and "Je danse dans ma tete" from WAYYY early on.

Of course, Itunes single is great idea too, esp. if there would be some cool remixes but I miss those good old days when you could actually buy the single and hold it in your hands :P .

I completely agree. I'm sure, many of you, like me, have a HUGE Celine singles collection. I just hope it doesn't stop all together anytime soon.

The limited edition had the CD packaged in a box with the postcards enclosed in the shimmering red paper, and two small booklets printed on high gloss paper, and a sample of the new perfume.

The deluxe edition came with larger versions of those two booklets and both of those editions came with a DVD that as an added detail was coloured red.

I've never seen packaging like this for any artist before.

In your opinion, what would've made these editions "special"?

I know ! I have all three editions  . I'm not saying they are not good, I meant only that there's not much difference between digipack cd/dvd edition and deluxe edition plus I don't like the design of outer box for deluxe edition, it seems cheap and I much prefer digipack edition. As for the postcards and perfume sample, it's fine, but it's not something that is sooo special, at least not for me. Cd/dvd/booklet is the most important part and it IS beautifully designed and we got that with digipack edition, so that so-called deluxe edition is not that much of improvement, quite the opposite, considering that white cardboard box without spine title. But hey, don't get offended, that's just my opinion. I can understand that you like it, I like it too, after all I bought it :giggle: but I just don't think there was a need for that third version, that's all. Now, if they've included some bonus songs or remixes or instrumentals or dvd bonuses on that deluxe edition, that would be another story and would justify the name ''deluxe''. Couple of nicely wrapped postcards and perfume sample don't! Esp. considering the price.

Sofa, you forgot GOODBYE'S(THE SADDEST WORD)...that was lame for a single too :whistling:

I happen to LOVE "A CAUSE" I really, badly wanted an english version of this song because it would have done phenomenal on the dance charts here and in the club scene. I have a friend who is a DJ at some clubs I go to and he has played "A CAUSE" just because it sounds great.

That was #4.

Don't get me started on the music video! :mdr: :mdr: :mdr:

Doing a sexed-up video as a tribute to an aging or dying mother does not make sense.

Maybe she was "celebrating" herself as "a woman" ? :giggle: :giggle:

You guys are slaying me with how much you've gotten off the subject...

SO, since the party seems to be out in left field...

I'm going to add my 2 cents... on ALL of the above!

1) Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Alex's comments WERE NOT offensive AND he stated that he respects the opinion of others.

2) Mods (Ronny 83) need to lighten up and quit being such Negative Nellys! Didn't your Mama teach you "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." ?

3) D'elles releases look awesome... Be THANKFUL that you have it available to you, as it WAS NOT released here in the USA!!

4) Sony (& René) are taking a BIG STEP forward by asking the fans what songs were their favorites during the preview. So, HOPEFULLY they won't make the mistake of NOT releasing a possible MEGA HIT like I Surrender.

5) A Cause is the SHIZNIT and would make a great Maxi single! Despite the age of downloads... collectors would delight in having a HARD COPY!

6) I'm signing the petition!!

Only beaten by the ridiculous "Goodbye's The Saddest Word." Yes, i'm still bitter about that after all these years. :mdr:

Another petition

Why sign for "A Cause" maxi-single ?

I refuse to sign because:

1) Sony release a new album "Taking Chances", and Celine make a new video of her new extract

2) Sony must ask a DJ for remixed "A Cause", and it's not sure he give a big success in the club

3) Sony surely ask a DJ for remixed a track on "Taking Chances" for a club, i think Sony give more promotion for an english album, because the french remixes are not good. He just remixed "Je Danse Dans Ma Tete" in 1991.

4) If Sony don't release Immensite, why A Cause

If you want my participation, give me a feeling! :msn-tongue:

It's funny, I remember many of us fans that are more into the francophone music were worried about D'ELLES being pushed aside by the anglophone album. While I do encourage the promotion of TAKING CHANCES, I still feel that with 3 months till its release date that something could come from D'ELLES, which I think is Celine's greatest album.

I would definitely NOT put "Immensite" in the same group as "Treat Her Like a Lady," "The First Time," and "Goodbye's".

"Immensite" is an incredible song. The other three are sub-par, in my opinion.

I'm sure that "A Cause" will be released as a single.. it's even likely it will be physically released because Céline will be in Europe/France to promote. But releasing a maxi-single is just a big no-no. Even in the UK, where physical singles were a booming business, singles are now watered down (with only 2 tracks). Now take that and the fact that it's a French song and that it will only be released in France. And I haven't even taken "Taking Chances" into account yet.. The *best thing* they can do is, like mentioned before, is releasing an EP on iTunes. So asking for a single is a yes, but asking for a maxi-single.. is just impossible.

Christina Aguilera did very well with her maxi single of HURT, which was surprisingly released in the US.
