Marketing Celine...

It always pisses me off to turn on the TV (VH1 in particular), and they are either showing Celine in the worst fashion shows, or on Forbes lists...and they rarely show any good footage of her!

 

It's ALWAYS shots of her without much makeup...or when she cut all her hair off....or acting goofy! It's like they have to belittle the fact that she IS one of the greatest performers/singers/money makers out there by showing crappy footage.

 

Anyway, I just needed to get that out.

 

But I was just wondering, if we all put together a promotion video with various footage of Celine's career...what videos would we use?

 

I know I would use some shots from the That's The Way It Is music video.

I hear ya. They find the most terrible pictures on the face of this planet of her and they broadcast it on national television. It's annoying. I just stay away from the TV most of the time unless celinedion.com confirms there's something Celiney that will air. Celinedion.com is on Celine's side... they show the good stuff.

I now I go to Celine.com and see if she is on any tv stations I have and watch theam even though I cant understand it at all. But what the heck right.

I couldn't agree with this thread more. Some of the promotional materials and tools radio and television stations use is pathetic.

 

As for the question what video footage would be used if it were my choice...? Hmmmm, these are some examples I can think of off hand:

 

- The amazing pose from the "You And I" music video when Celine's hands shoot up as the airplane goes overhead.

- The Collector's Series - Volume One album cover

- Celine in the green dress for the most recent Oscars

- A few carefully timed poses from the "If Walls Could Talk" music video

- A clip of Celine pouring her heart out during "Think Twice" and falling to her knees on the floor during "The Colour Of My Love Concert."

 

There's WAY more, but those are the images that came to my mind first.

You're exactly right. There are some moments when she looks unbelievable, and others when she doesn't look quite as good.

There's a photographer who sold this particular picture to the AP and he or she should be sued! Here's the story:

 

I remember there was one point at the end of last year and the beginning of this year, whenever they did a report on her, they would put that hideous picture of her from "A New Day..." with the red dress. The angle and expression of her face was not flattering at all. Because of its low angle, her jaw structure, and her cringing face, she looked just like Mufasa from The Lion King! :mdr: :blink:

I think definitely pictures from "Immortality" ,"I'm alive" and "I drove all night"-but I also think from "That's the way it is"-she looks amazing in that video!
