I wouldn't say it is close nor would i actually risk walking there, especially alone. I think they have a bus going there though.

Why it's risky to walk alone in Vegas? The security is bad there?

Apparently Downtown Vegas can become a very dangerous neighbourhood at night if you stray very far from The Fremont Street Experience. In my opinion you go to Vegas to see the sights and sounds of the Strip so my advice would be to find a hotel on the Strip.

Are the Imperial Place or Tropicana good places to stay at?

I'm at the Imperial Palace right now, lol! I think it's a great place to stay, nothing spectacular, but it's one of the cheaper hotels and it's right across from Caesars, a quick 5-10 minute walk to the Colosseum!

I'm a twin mommy just like Celine!

I booked my stay in Sept at the Imperial as it was by far the "best deal". After booking I read lots of negative reviews about the place, from poor daily room cleaning to the noise. In the photo I've circled the Colosseum at the top, the Imperial in the middle, and the Bandshell at the bottom. I've stayed at Harrah's next door and have noticed that they have live bands till the wee hours in that bandshell. If you're planning (like me) on staying up anyway I guess it shouldn't be a problem. I'll soon find out.

The big bonus with the Imperial is that it's right across the street from Ms. Celine.

I stayed at the Tropicana last October and my feet were aching from the walk up and down the strip to Caesar's.

Hope this helps !

I don't really think IP is too noisy, although this time my room overlooks the pool and I can hear the music and pool noise, but it's really not too bad. My room gets cleaned everyday just fine, unless you leave the do not destub sign on there. The worst thing about IP is the small and slow elevators. That's why I request a room on a higher level so the elevator isn't full when you get on. For the price and location it IS the best deal!

Yes, you do NOT want to walk from the strip (around Stratosphere at the end) to Freemont. I have a friend that lives in Vegas, whom I stay with if we are in town a lot and even he wouldnt walk between the two. In that area there are a lot of drugs and people out on the street...its really best to take a cab if you are going between the two.

As far as the hotel question, I've never stayed at IP or the Tropicana. I have stayed at Caesar's Palace, Treasure Island (which is where I stayed last time), Luxor, Paris, New York New York and the Mirage. Caesar's is ideal of course because she is playing there, but usually their rooms are way expensive. We caught a break (this was the first time I saw Celine in Vegas) and got a room for around 140 a night.

Honestly I wouldn't discount Treasure Island (TI). TI had a really good rate when we went back in June, it averaged around 105 a night and it was a really nice place with nice rooms. They even gave us a free upgrade to a huge suite. As far as walking distance, its on the same side of the street as Caesar's, and I am thinking just 2 doors down. Its only about a 10 minute walk, too.

Paris was just ok, not worth the money. Mirage is just as expensive as Caesar's most of the time.Luxor and NY NY are both towards the other end of the strip so its a LONG walk to get to where you need to go.

I am in the process of booking at hotel for her last show. Right now, Caesar's is 200 a night for a standard room, TI is only 130. Depending on what my friend wants to do, we may just pay the extra money to stay at Caesar's since it is her last show and the last reason I have to go to Vegas for a while.

Hope that helped!

Yeah don't stay at the downtown it isn't that great at all trust me. I stayed at Ceasers palace last spring break when we got there we got a free upgrade so we had a suite in the Augusta tower it was great very quite and really great service as well. The staff was really friendly and it is the home of our M.s Dion. I would definably go back to Ceasers Palace it was great and I had a great time as well. :) :thumbsup2: :msn-wink:

There was several Vegas shows on the Travel Channel last night that I watched, and they suggested staying off the strip to save money. They said alot of places are just as nice, and with a rental car, not far from the strip and half the price...?? I'm so confused what to do?! :hmm:

If you can afford it go with Treasure Island. I've had great customer service there each and every time. Not to mention there's a Starbucks right on site! LOL

The creepy Imperial's location is perfect for the price, it takes five minutes to get to the Colosseum. The room I had when I stayed there wasn't noisy... but it smelled a bit strange.
