The Final Performance Of "A New Day..."

With the final night of A New Day... being less than 50 shows away it got me to thinking about how that night will be. We all know that there will be media, celebrities, and of course, us, the fans!

 

What I'm wondering is do you think that the show will be extended and made longer such as The Millennium Concert? Will more songs be added for this special night? Perhaps a few songs from the new English album? Or, do you guys think she will bring back some of the other songs performed throughout the years ("Fever," "Je t'aime encore," "What A Wonderful World," "Have You Ever Been In Love," etc.).

 

I have a feeling that a few more songs will be added for this special night. Perhaps even a duet with a surprise guest. Could Barbra show up to do "Tell Him"? Will Peabo be there for "Beauty And The Beast"? Will Jean-Jacques appear to rock the house with "J'irai où tu iras"?

 

Also, will the giraffes make their first and only apperance? I sure hope so!

 

Come on guys, tell me what you think will happen. Or heck, what do you HOPE will happen!

I am thinking a duet with a special guest or something of that nature,im sure its gonna be on TV and they will have mia michaels and many other Celebs , its gonna be a great night, many duets and new songs added , i cant wait!

My guess is that they will be so ready for it to be over, they'll keep it the same. It would be cool if they put all songs she ever peformed for AND in the show, but that would be a VERY demanding performance.

 

I will say, "Et, je t'aime encore" was a nice touch to the show.

I personally doubt she'll do anything special like that. If I'd have to guess at something, I'd say she might talk about her world tour and sing Taking Chances or something.

 

And my only hope is that Josh Groban is there.

I would love to see an extravaganza of a show! I don't think that will happen though but it will be

an emotional night for everyone. I'm hoping she does do some different things and not keep it the same, it's a very special night & deserves something special.

 

I would like to see her do "What A Wonderful World" & "Je T'aime Encore" along with a duet. I think the only duet

that might happen would be with JJ Goldman. It would be cool if Elton and Bette Midler do something with her though. I'd also like to see at least 2 songs from the new cd.

 

It would be really cool if we all got special programs to commemorate the night.

and it'd be amazing.... she will come over the past 5 years and it'd be touching.... sth will be for sure but it's still unknown

The last performance should be glamorous and special. A few extra songs, a surprise guest like Elton John (with whom she already sang a duet) would all be a very good idea. And a montage of the past 5 years would be also suitable for the occasion. All in all, something longer like Millennium Concert was...

Not only more songs, new costumes dress too! Something like they celebrated their 500th show.

She might sing a few lines of "Leaving Las Vegas" or something while she jokes around with the audience or there might be something special for the final song but I don't think it will be anything like the Millennium concert. That show wrapped up her career up until 1999 and the Vegas show has only been a few years of her life, it just doesn't have the same level of significance (even though it's an amazing achievement). Final curtains of many great theatrical and musical shows are just the final performances - with no new bells and whistles.

This is true, but at the same time many of these "great theatrical and musical shows" are based off of storylines that must be adhered to. There aren't many ways that a random number can be added for a show such as "Beauty And The Beast" or "Evita." The shows were written as they are shown.

 

However, a show such as "A New Day..." is actually a very elaborate concert. Many things have changed along the way, granted with rehersals beforehand, but it has changed. "River Deep, Mountain High" was added, the setlist was dramatically altered, Taro Hakase joined Celine during "To Love You More," and Celine recently sang "Can't Help Falling In Love" this past week as a tribute to Elvis.

 

If Celine and René and Franco and so on so forth want extra numbers for the final show and/or want to have a special duet with an attending celebrity it will be much easier to do so than in shows such as the ones mentioned in my first paragraph.

i hope it can be kind of like her greatest hit concert! but in another way it's a show.. don't know if they can create so many visual in time for those songs.

As love has said before, I don't think they'll do many different things on the show, but I bet on a song that hasn't been included to the show, just as a way of saying goodbye. Je ne vous oublie pas would be something nice... Or maybe a duet with Garou Sous les vent... "Et si tu crois que c'est fini, jamais"

This part of the show was actually shown for a brief moment during the Oprah special. Two giraffes intertwined their heads to create a heart, many more popped their heads up, and I believe someone told me once that one actually gave a kiss on the screen. However, sadly, just before the show was to premier to the public it was decided to yank them. I do hope they make an apperance.

Ahh NOW I remember them. Honestly, they don't do anything for me.

 

Even tho the show is staged, an article that came out when the show debuted talked about all the technical aspects of the show and how much in control Celine is during the show. The article said she could change song order or skip songs if she felt like it any time during the show. So I see no reason why the show has to be (or will be) exactly how it always is. I think something special will be done and a song or 2 added.

As far as the song list goes, I am sure they will make it extra special to accommodate the evening. I really hope it is televised so all the fans will have the opportunity to be a part of it even if they're not there in person. It's really going to be a bittersweet moment.

I think Céline will end the last performance with Ce N'était Qu'un Rêve; as a tribute to her mother who is of course in the audience. I think if she would do this song at the end, it would be so emotional!
