Can anybody tell me why is that...

...everybody out there seems to be bitvhing like hell about MHWGO while:

 

- this song has an absolutely strong classic radio play

- this song is on the Top of iTunes store for Céline's songs

- this song is on the TOP of Last.fm with about 17 000 listens, the next one absolutey FAR away with 6000 is RDMH

- despite everybody's bitching she goes out on stage (Wango Tango) and the full bloody stadium of 60.000 ppl is singing with her big time so loud you couldn't hear her at times

 

So I guess MHWGO is the only classic that is hated and loved SO MUCH at the same time.

I get tired of hearing the song on the radio etc, but when Céline does it LIVE or when I hear the song LIVE I still get an amazing feeling out of it.. For example, I can't stop listening to WCD performance..

 

It's just an extremely beautiful song, but because it's been played soooo often, well....

Back in 1997/1998 I used to see this song on TV 7 or 8 times a day and keep in mind I never really watched that much television. Talk about overplaying.

 

But the thing is, this was the song that made me cry a river when I was in Las Vegas. Like it or not, this is the ultimate Celine anthem. This is her best well known song. I believe every fan will want to hear this song in concert at least once in her/his life.

Because it's associated with that sappy love story from Titanic and it seems like the only thing Celine's team focused on during that era was Titanic. If it were her own song and had no connection to that movie, I think she would be getting a lot less heat for it. Few people know BYLM was written for a movie, and people seem to enjoy that song more. Usually when artists have a hit like MHWGO they continue to quickly release additional singles so those will do just as great, but the only other single I heard from LTAL was To Love You More and that was that for that album. I think people went over the edge when they added the movie dialog to it. And keep in mind, every single time Celine made a television appearance she sang MHWGO. Eventually people will get sick of hearing the same song from the same person over and over again...the chest pounding and mock ship bow were too much for some. I think Sony should've released a lot more of her material to the airwaves to balance out the acts. What sucks the most is that when someone says "Celine," they automatically put her name on the same pedestal as Titanic and she has accomplished so much more than that.

Yes, it might have been overplayed...and it is not my first choice of songs to listen to at home, but I have to admit, I cannot wait until I hear her sing it in Vegas! I knew who Celine was WAYYYY before Titanic came out, so that was not the song that made me start loving her.

at the theatre where i work,

my manger decided it would be a good idea

to put that song on the soundtrack

that's played throughout the building.

i'm forced to listen to it 20 times a day

at the very least.

don't get me wrong, though.

i love celine like crazy,

but it gets oooold after a while.

it's not her best song either,

just her most popular one

(as was already stated)

which is kinda annoying in itself.

beauty and the beast is also on the soundtrack,

but i'm the only one who knows that it's even her singing.

people are always confused when i mention that she's on there twice.

luckily i can't really hear beauty and the beast that well

when i'm working in concessions,

so that one hasn't gotten to me yet.

This is one song that is included in EVERY single romantic songs compilation released here in India, the only song that has made Let's Talk About Love one of the best-selling international album here, the only song that made Celine a household name here (even though most of them don't understand the lyrics)

 

But it is also the most over-played song of Celine...I mean, you get to hear it in any restaurant, music store (I know cos I work in a music store and I have to check out what other rival stores are doing ), and of course, there is my home too
