I just came back from what I can say is one of the greatest concert experience EVER.

Ms. Martina McBride, Live in Oakland!

The openers of the show was this country harmony band called Little Big Town. They sang for a whole 40 minutes; I was wishing they would finish quick so that I could see Martina.

After a 15 minute intermission, the lights dimmed. BTW, Half the stage was draped in this huge black cloth. Now... as soon as the lights dimmed, words like "love" "believe" "dream" and "hope" were projected on the black cloth, and the poignant piano chords echoed through the arena. All a sudden, a woman rises through the stage with a spotlight hitting behind her, and she began singing the song "Anyway."

Let me just tell you, I was so touched by this performance.

I have been a fan of Martina McBride much longer than Celine. She was one of the first people that I admired in popular music. She was the reason why I found Celine Dion.

She sang some of her classics including "Wild Angel," "My Baby Loves Me Just the Way That I Am", and "Concrete Angel." She decided "Concrete Angel" to an agency devoted to fighting child abuse.

She sang a one-and-a-hour show in one outfit with only three breaks - the longest being one minute.

You would have to experience her live to understand and experience the magnitude of her vocal skill, ability and talent.

I was floored.

Her last official song of the show was "Independence Day." I remember when I was younger, everytime my whole family and I drove down to watch the fireworks, I would make my parents blast out this song with all the windows opened! :mdr: :mdr:

What an inspiring, powerful, and uplifting evening it was for me, to have finally been in the presence of one of the greatest singers in our world, of whom I have admired for over 14 years! FINALLY! :w00t: :wub: :wub: :wub: I love you, Martina! What a memorable evening!

Sounds like you had a fantastic time at the concert I like Martina McBride I have one of her c.d.s at home and little big town is a great group I have to listen to it all the time from my sister she is a huge County fan. But per sonly I prefer Keith Urban he is a pretty amazing guitar player and a fantastic singer with great songs. i love his music and he is pretty darn hot if you ask me.

ahhh! i wanted to go to her show last friday so much! :crybaby: and she sings "don't stop believin"??? *dies*

i watched her special on abc monday night, but IT WAS NOT THE SAME. lol.

glad the concert was awesome! good thing you didn't post this before the vegas show, i might not have been able to hold myself back! hee.

faith hill is here saturday, of course celine's out of town.. i'm really trying to be good, but i want to go to all these shows. haha.

I love Martina! She's one of the greatest live singers to ever hit a stage. Her performances are always completely perfect and amazingly powerful! She's one of the few singers who can duplicate their studio work live with no problems. Her voice is like steel! Never misses a note! I keep wishing they'd release a live concert album or dvd for her! Glad you had a good time!

I love Martina! She's one of the greatest live singers to ever hit a stage. Her performances are always completely perfect and amazingly powerful! She's one of the few singers who can duplicate their studio work live with no problems. Her voice is like steel! Never misses a note! She is most definitely one of the greatest singers in the world. It seems like she's never had a "bad day" when it comes to performing. I may even go as far as to say that she gives Celine a run for her money. Martina sings a complete LIVE concert of 20 songs and takes less than 1 1/2 minutes of break time.

YES, they need to release this "Waking Up Laughing Tour" as a DVD.

Yes, I do believe that Martina is the Celine Dion of country music. I love her very much, and she is amazing! I've been to see her several times, and I've loved every show I've watched! She is definately loved here in the south as well! More than anyone else! :wub:

No, sorry, I worded that badly..lol. I think they were at MGM. (I think Faith did play the colosseum once? or did i make that up? lol)

One Nite with Lite was my first Martina experience, too I think that was the same year she blew me away at the grammys (w/ concrete angel) and I became a big fan. I was so excited she was going to be there because I would have gone if it was Celine and anyone! martina was a definite bonus..haha.

yeah i was there! :kicking: i can't remember exactly where i was, but looking at the seating online, i think i was the first row in section 201 or 203? Where were you guys?

I just went to the show alone. I literally drove 4 hours down there, saw the show, and drove 4 hours back...lol. next time I'll have to meet up with you all!

I was also at her last two today show performances on the plaza. were you guys there, too?

hmmm.. I think that's all the new york celine I've seen...lol. but if the world tour rolls through ny - i want to be there! :yes:

I'm seeing her in Florida on April 18th. I can't wait. To me she's the best live vocalist there is. She never hits a wrong note and her voice is just so strong and clear. She's incredible. I mean... just watch this (it's a bootleg):

I sometimes wonder how Celine's and Martina's voices compare. I watch Martina live and she stretches her voice to the limits and NEVER misses a note! Just when you think she can't get any higher she reaches down and pulls out a higher note. Celine is extremely conservative with her live performances and doesn't seem to strech like she could. I think Celine's live voice is much more fragile. I do think Celine's voice is much more flexible and versatile though. Martina can pretty much just belt really strong notes, whereas Celine can hit high notes and do lots of runs and do chest and head voice very easily and smooth. They are two different voices, but both are incredible singers. It's not just the fact that Celine can hit the notes, it's more just the tone of her voice that does it for me, but I really love and respect Martina as well. She's one of the most under appreciated artists out there I think.

Yes. I love that song! It takes the cake for most awesome Martina song. Although "A Broken Wing" is great too. All her songs are. I <3 her!!!!!

Oh, I went to this concert in Missouri. Sooooooooo good. I LOVE Martina! She is definitely my 2nd favorite singer. I'm not near as into her as Celine, though. I've seen her 3 times in concert. Her Christmas concert in Nashville in 2004 was AMAZING!
