Céline and René could start their own record label but I think they think it's not worth the hassle. Plus they would have to deal with a lot more work, they would be responsible for the distribution for example stuff that Sony always has taken care of. We know Céline, if she can sing and be with RC she's happy, the rest is boring so Sony should handle that And promotion for the English album...let's rely on Céline and René for that one. Rene has a good relationship with Tommy Mottola, the former CEO. So Celine is one of the favorites for Mr. Mottola. But as he left the label, the new CEO may not favour Celine as much as the former. But it is a rule that the new boss will mistreat the favorites of his former. Hope Celine will be exceptional. Quote

Oh believe me i'm one of the quickest to let Sony know how poorly they handle Celine and her releases sometimes but let's not forget that without Sony Celine would not be where she is now. They gave her a chance in North America which in turn gave her a chance to release her material internationally which in turn led her to become the biggest selling female recording artist of all time. Now there is no disputing the fact that since her sabatical in 1999 Sony seem to have lost all interest in Celine, seemingly quite happy to let her sell modestly and let her do her own promotion. They could have sold millions more albums if they have put a bit of effort into things; look how well "One Heart" sold around the world with absolutely no effort on Sony's part. Imagine the money they could've made if they'd backed that album. Imagine the interest they could generate by handling her single releases properly, promoting her material, keeping her international websites up to date and so on. Heck, she isn't even listed as a Sony artist on SonyMusic.co.uk anymore! The good thing about sticking with Sony is that, as fans, we are treated to an immense array of releases - they is no arguing with that fact. In this year alone we're going to have had - a french album in 3 editions ,an english album in 3 editions, a special edition re-release album, a DVD plus hopefully some single releases too. Would Celine really get all those releases under another label? There MUST be some reason Celine & Rene are sticking with Sony despite the abysmal lack of promotional support since her return in 2002 - my guess would be they are rewarded very well financially with Sony or they are tremendously loyal and think it's the right thing to do to stick with them. They supposedly do sme "research", "testing" but their team is clearly off the track every time with Celine. "Goodbye's (The Saddest Word)" and "Immensité" come to mind Here in the USA ad Canada, "Falling Into You" only had 3 singles. That was unheard of back in the mid 90s when Shania released 7 or 8 singles off her album outselling everyone else. Te marketing department of her label seem to be run by intern students who could careless about Celine's career.
