So, as we know, there are going to be many big albums released by a lot of big names in the fall/early next year. What if at the next Grammy Awards or the one following, the nominees for best album were Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Madonna, Beyonce, and Annie Lennox?!!

I know that's never going to happen. But perhaps two of them will be up against each other! But WHAT IF?!!

Can you imagine how nervous we would all be that night? :giggle:

no way . celine will never be nominated again for the important awards - those times r over :thumbsup2:

I have to agree with you. Even if she releases the best album ever they won't nominate her. Lately Grammy is beinging transformed into MTV Awards anyway... Would be nice if they ever nominate her again, but I'm 90% sure they won't.

That's so pessimistic :pinch:

i don't know exactl what happens with the Grammy's lately but i think that if she should be nominated she will be...if there's no reason she should be nominated then...ofc she won't

I don't agree with you at all!!!why do you think so???In my opinion céline's new album will be wonderful and a lot of people who don't like her will start to appreciate her music..don't be so pessimistic!!!cèline needs our support..anyway,from the rumors, this new album will be very different from the others(more rock-as rené said)..in this way céline will able to reach also those people who don't like her past melodic songs..

Je me ferai nouvelle pour que le feu reprenne

Je me changerai en or pour que tu m' aimes encore

I certainly don't think the Grammys have any intention of nominating Celine, but if the record is amazing - they'll have no choice!

Whether Celine is nominated or not I don't know but the Grammys have seriously depreciated in value anyway, there are in no way as important as they once were.

Celine must must must have chart success with her first couple of English singles for the new album to even be considered for a Grammy nomination. That's the way it works.

I completely agree that the Grammys have depreciated. It's so unfortunate too, because a Grammy is still considered the highest award for a musical artist.

There's No Reason to talk nonsense Like This...If the Album is Grammy Worthy than Celine will be nominated for a Grammy and She could win...So Many people may not like Celine But they Do RESPECT her here in the United States for all she has accomplished in the 90's...After all she is the best selling Female Artist of all time and let's think Celine will probably be on Tour during this because the Grammys are always in February...maybe she will give us a performance Live Via Sateilite where ever she may be...

If the new Englis album is great she could win... I Love Celine but the Album One Heart was in my opinion not Grammy worthy and Lets remember the last time she was nomintaed was for her CD... "A New Day Has Come." she lost to Cheryl Crow but at Least she was nominated! I can see her winning in 08

Well, technically, being on the charts means nothing when it comes to being nominated for a Grammy. It doesn't hurt also, but as I've seen in the past few years, the biggest chart busters haven't won. Look at Norah Jones and the Dixie Chicks; they all had little airplay (I didn't even hear of Norah Jones until she won every major award on Grammy night years ago) and they all went on to have straight sweeps. The Grammy execs and artists who vote for the winners really seem to look at the quality of the nominee's work instead of how popular their music was. And these days, the artists being played on the radio don't have much to offer but lewd lyrics and raunchy music videos. If Celine wants to be nominated, she needs to work with the right people in the business. Looking back, I'm surprised MHWGO won Record of the Year...a lot of people said it lacked a lot of soul and depth. I was almost sure though that LTAL would've won Pop Album of the Year and it didn't. Anyways, it's always a surprise to see who wins, but as someone mentioned earlier, Celine can record 200 albums this year and I'm sure not one of them will be nominated. I guess the consider her a veteran in the pop category: her day came and now it's someone else's.

I Agree in a sense but Celine Is A Vetren..People in the Business RESPECT her a great deal such as we all know David Foster, Randy Jackson and so on..people that didnt work about Celine Dion respect her such as Clive Davis...But Celine is a gift and people know that so we have to believe if this new CD is Grammy worthy than she will Win

of course it would be cool if it's nominated with all divas and things..

but also i'm thinking will Celine go to the award and perform?? cause of what happened last time when Celine's in Grammy performing DWMF... as u can read on for keeps.. she was angry about what happened...

so not sure how grammy can make up for Celine.....

Mariah Carey was nominated for 8 grammy's for 'The emancipation of Mimi' (I can't remember how many she won) last year, so was U2! I mean they are so-called veterans as well. I think we are in for a surprise Grammy-wise, Céline surprised us so many times before and I know it's a very good thing to 'come back' especially with the HUGE high quality tour she's planning. We'll see ;)

ofcours mariah was nominated - that's exactly why celine will never get than kind of recognition ever again . mariah sold herself in order to sell more records and win all those awards...we already know celine is not doing it . she said herself that it's out of question - she is not going to do rap or heavy RNB . she wants the producers and writers to write something that would fit her style and not the other way around...

as for U2 - celine is not in the same category as them . people treat their music as "quality music" while celine is being treated as a good singer who sings trashy songs :thumbsup2:

Totally agree.

However we have seen that what is popular at any given time often changes so if Celine can return with a high quality album (i.e not One Heart) and get her material into the charts for a sustained period of time then anything is possible.

I think its a little pre-mature, only because we dont know what this album will sound like at all. If its an amazing record and one that garners enough attention, they'll most likely have no choice but to nominate it.

Although I do agree with those here that say she could easily be ignored.
