marckvls Posted July 18, 2007 at 08:59 PM Posted July 18, 2007 at 08:59 PM Do you have a song that you never listen to the sudio version? Well, I don't know if its just me, but there are three songs that are way better in Live versions, they are: The Power Of LoveTo Love You MoreLe Blues Du Businesman Specially The Power Of Love, it has much more drums, effect, I don't know, its far better than the studio version in my opinion. Ahh and we cannot forget that beats in the end: TAN TAN TAN TAN! Quote Love comes to those who believe it...
tcherno Posted July 18, 2007 at 09:24 PM Posted July 18, 2007 at 09:24 PM i always listen to the version of the power of love from her 1999 stade de france concert. i always love to her Where Does My Heart Beat Now in live version. it is so much better... Quote

Tal Posted July 18, 2007 at 10:03 PM Posted July 18, 2007 at 10:03 PM Yeah, thats so strange. The studio version of TPOL sounds so strained....the live versions are much better. My favorite is actually a partial clip from Juno rehearsals I believe... Best version of the song ever, except its bad quality and only the last part of the song. I prefer live versions of LBDB as well. I prefer the studio version of IDAN, except for the one big note. That note is SO much better in the track she uses for AND. Céline's Blues Posted July 18, 2007 at 10:15 PM Posted July 18, 2007 at 10:15 PM I prefer the studio version of IDAN, except for the one big note. That note is SO much better in the track she uses for AND.Gogo taught you well. Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg
LVCeline Posted July 18, 2007 at 10:36 PM Posted July 18, 2007 at 10:36 PM I think it all depends on the live performance. I prefer any live (except for the most recent) performance of LBDB over the studio, which I just hate the instrumentals for. I prefer the studio version of TPOL first because her voice sounds better, second the extra verse in the studio version, and third I prefer the soft ending to the abrupt live version. I prefer BYLM in the studio because she's always too nasal when singing it live. I usually prefer IA live because the studio version is too basic and plain. I like both the "live" and studio version of TLYM but I prefer the live versions ending more when she hits the strong note towards the end which she doesn't do in studio. I prefer the live versions of IIC. Depending on the performance, I like the studio version of MHWGO more. As Tal said, I like studio version of IDAN but the high note of the "live" performance. I prefer Nature Boy live performances over studio. I probably shouldn't list every freakin song she performs live compared to studio, but these are a few examples. Like I said, for me it all depends on the live version and whether or not she performs it well. Quote
sayyed Posted July 18, 2007 at 10:37 PM Posted July 18, 2007 at 10:37 PM (edited) I must say I prefer the whole DCP album in live on Olympia... the studio ones sound so ... polished, unneccessary!I never hear Ziggy in studio, or If I could. I prefer the live version of le ballet too, though the song itself isn't near my favs! ^^ I love Dance with my father live - the studio version is very forgettable! the other way arround I must say I can't stand TLYM live - the chhorous in every live performance makes my ears bleeding, it sounds so scratchy and raw... I prefer the studio version by far! Edited July 18, 2007 at 10:41 PM by sayyed Quote https://soundcloud.com/finnremixes
GoldenLeaf Posted July 18, 2007 at 10:43 PM Posted July 18, 2007 at 10:43 PM Here my five favorite songs that I prefer in Live versions: 1. River Deep, Mountain High2. Where Does My Heart beat Now3. L'amour Existe Encore4. The Power of Love5. Pour que tu m'aimes Encore Quote
RLAAMJR. Posted July 18, 2007 at 11:01 PM Posted July 18, 2007 at 11:01 PM Well, I know Celine sounds better live than those just recorded so I really prefer her to have a live performance. But since, only she and Mariah ( i like mariah a little ) can beat Madonna, I want Celine to always release a great studio album so that she'll sell millions of albums and finally becomes the best-selling female singer of all time. SuperLove4Celine Posted July 18, 2007 at 11:24 PM Posted July 18, 2007 at 11:24 PM I'd have to say that I like the album version of "Je danse dans ma tête" better than the live version. But I love the live version of "Des mots qui sonnent" better than the album version. As for English songs I prefer the album version of "That's The Way It Is" over the live version. But I much prefer the live version to "I Surrender" than the album version. ...Joe... Quote
Mozinha Posted July 18, 2007 at 11:26 PM Posted July 18, 2007 at 11:26 PM There are many songs that sound better live than studio. But the one who got me the most impressed was Dans un autre monde. It was never a favourite when SSDA was released but I adored it from ACDS on. Filine Posted July 19, 2007 at 08:57 AM Posted July 19, 2007 at 08:57 AM I think that I personally can enjoy the live performances so much because of the album versions. It's those versions that you first get to hear, you'll get to know the song, you will feel certain emotions and you'll pick your favourites. It's not until the actual performance when you see, feel and actuallyhear the artist that a song comes to live. That's, in my opinion, when the real masterpiece is created because of the interaction with the audience and the exchange of emotions. The album version is usually sung in the way the producer envisions it and Céline will professionally approach the song and sing it as perfect as she can. On stage it's Céline's and she can do with the song whatever she likes, whenever she likes. If she wants to sound like a chicken during Love Can Move Mountains to make people laugh, that's where her personality kicks in... If she wants to hold the I surrender note for 40 seconds that's her effort to give us a kick out of it. With the live performances you see and hear these kind of things happen. You will know when she holds a note until it hurts, you will hear it too and that's why live performances, for me, will always win. Ok you can send me to the Céline Fans Anonymous now Quote http://www.celinedion.nl/pics/cindy/bannerza.jpg"They call my home the land of snow, Canadian cold front movin' in"
krazy_kool_dude Posted July 19, 2007 at 09:08 AM Posted July 19, 2007 at 09:08 AM Depends on what the songs are. She used to perform Love Can Move Mountains really well but now she's gone all squeaky and most likely thinks it's the song where she can do whatever the hell she likes (which is good! but she doesn't have to do it in a horrible way ). Because You Loved Me has never been a good song live, too nasal BUT i love that she gets the song involved with the last line of the song. The songs which i like live are I Surrender, Let's Talk About Love. The endings to these songs are much better! I think Celine should forget about the fading technique on the records and just let us hear the end of the songs! In Some Small Way is another song better live, obviously her voice during the whole miracle album was strained/raw but from what we've seen live (Jay Leno) she puts a lot of power/surprises in the song which i love! Macaronie Posted July 19, 2007 at 12:22 PM Posted July 19, 2007 at 12:22 PM (edited) I only like LBDB and ISSW (actually all the miracle songs hahaha) live, the rest are good on the track... I can't believe people here mentioned The Power Of Pre-recording and RDMH I wish there was this musical orgasm live as there is on the studio track of RDMH!! Filine Posted July 19, 2007 at 02:01 PM Posted July 19, 2007 at 02:01 PM I wish there was this musical orgasm live as there is on the studio track of RDMH!! By this remark I can only assume you didn't see it live, she rocks the HOUSE! You'll change your mind, the moment you see it, it's SO energetic and really builds up until the last note. The last audio recordings, even the March 2nd one doesn't do it justice. Quote http://www.celinedion.nl/pics/cindy/bannerza.jpg"They call my home the land of snow, Canadian cold front movin' in"
Macaronie Posted July 19, 2007 at 02:04 PM Posted July 19, 2007 at 02:04 PM I've seen alot of live clips of it, even from the AND show, her voice is far weaker and less powerful as on the album, and I talked about the music intruments at first though. Quote
Tal Posted July 19, 2007 at 03:28 PM Posted July 19, 2007 at 03:28 PM Jeroen's right. While RDMH is amazing to watch live, vocally its not as powerful and confident as the album version. You can hear it in the 'yeah yeah yeaaaah' parts and that big 'oooooooohh'. On the album that note has no adlibs or ornamentation....its sung straightfoward and powerfully. Whereas at the show she does a bit of a Christina. I think otherwise she wouldn't be able to hold it straight for that long. But I'm not trying to take anything away from her performance at AND. Its AMAZING....like stand up and drool on your shoes amazing. But there its also the fact that you're hearing it live, and its booming, the dancers are all over the stage, the lights are going crazy, and she's got on THAT dress. But speaking purely vocally, although her performance at AND is incredible, the album is stronger. And when I heard it live a few weeks ago, she sounded stronger then she did on the DVD performance. Btw, I agree about ISSW. I love both versions, but the Leno version is fantastic! Davey84 Posted July 20, 2007 at 05:23 PM Posted July 20, 2007 at 05:23 PM Hmmm well I think I've played Live à Olympia and Live à Paris more times then DCP and D'eux I LOVE these live albums! But I don't care much for ACDS... it had no real ambiance IMO... although ONCP is amazing on it! I think live is when the songs really come alive, there's more energie and Mégo directs the sometimes a bit boring album instrumentals to great live instrumentals! I think Mégo doesn't get enough credit for his work!! What he did for Seduces Me in AND is AMAZING Oh and someone complained about LCCM @ AND, well Céline doesn't 'scream' or 'screetches' on this song anymoooooore (well at least not in april/may ) My favs, in no particular order: WDMYBN live @ wintergarden... after the song & applause's over... silence and then:then one touch overcomes the silence... love still survives, two hearts in need one another gimme wings... gimme wings to flyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy AMAZING!! LAEE live @ Quebec for New York & LBDBM live @ ADISQ gala 1999... those little errors is what makes them so great!! Seduces me live @ AND... grrrrwwwwww HOT HOT HOT Les Fils du Superman LAO...so touching! PQTME LAP... the ending! MHWGO live at World's Childerns day... with the orchestra, it was so amazing! Titom Posted July 20, 2007 at 06:07 PM Posted July 20, 2007 at 06:07 PM There's some live version that I prefer : - Le blues du businessman (live à l'Olympia & live à Paris)- Think Twice (live in Zurich) And some others. But there's also songs that I hate when she sings them live: - I'm Alive (she never knex how to sing it live)- That's the way it is - All by myself : I never knew why people used to love that song live. Until the famous "anymooooooore" it's awfull, so far from the CD. Quote

Alice Posted July 20, 2007 at 06:40 PM Posted July 20, 2007 at 06:40 PM Ma chambre is about zillion times better live. Of course, singing live enchants most of the studio songs but the effect is stronger for older songs, I guess. Because new arrangements live + Celine's more mature voice make them sound fresh and cool. Quote
