Quebecers Are Proud of Celine!

July 14 , 2007

In honour of this year's ''Fκte nationale'' on June 24, Quebecers were asked to vote for the Quebec international success they were most proud to call their own. The poll was part of this year's theme '' ΐ nous le monde '' (The World Is Ours). With almost 25% of the votes Celine came in second, right behind Cirque du Soleil!! 23,000 Quebercers submitted their votes at Archambault locations around the province, through the Journal de Montreal and online. Congratulations Celine!

is it just me or is 25% and the 2nd position low? What are your thoughts about Quebecers being proud or not about Celine regardless the poll?

Posted
Well if there were more than five nominated, 25% is already a big share for Celine Dion. Being second is ok 'cos Cirque Du Soleil are a group of amazing performers and they are a group. So if you are in a group all the friends and relatives of one member of that group would more likely vote for the whole group right? :)

yes i agree, i was thinking if the first is not CDS or Celine then the vote it's not right hahaha

Courage don't you dare fail me now!

I Cant Speak for the the Qubec Region but All I know is they should be grateful of Celine and Rene

I sure Celine and Rene have given back to Qubec Money wise even if it wasent in the public eye.

I Know in The United States people love her here eventhough some people dislike her

And in My summer homes In Beruit Lebanon and in Paris they love her as well

well... it says in the official statement of Celinedion.com that 23000 people cast their vote, 25% of which was for Céline, so that's 5750. She's second after Cirque, so at least 26% voted for Cirque, being 5980... that leaves 11270 people to vote for all the other categories. :thumbsup2:

If you think of the 23000 being a sample of the 7.669.100 citizins of Quebec, than it's not a significant sample only 0.30%... but for the sake of it... if it was a significant sample, then 25% of the Quebec people are proud of Céline; being 25% of 7.669.100... being 1.917.275 people... Does that anwser you question? :innocent: :whistling:

Well in this article: http://www.showbizz.net/articles/200707131...eline_dion.html

they say that the Cirque du soleil was first with almost 33% of the votes. So Celine was not far away behind. It's not the first time that we hear about those kinds of surveys here in Quebec. And Celine is often mentioned first too. But she can't be first every time. I think this is a very good result for her. People keep voting for her after all this time. That's good!

:() In my opinion, Celine is the best reason of proud to the quebecers. The cirque du solei is the second :hmm:

So there was actually only 23000 people who voted. If there were more poeple who voted, Celine would have win.

But we must not assume that only 26 percent voted for Cirque. Maybe it was 25+ or more. Hope you could give me tha exact percentage for Cirque
