The UK's Celine on the QE2

It’s been a while since I last posted. I wanted to say hi and wish the Celine Forum a happy birthday!

 

I have been so busy with my tribute show to Celine Dion. Some will remember my postings of months passed; perhaps this message can be added to the previous discussions.

 

Since my last posting, I have travelled the world, spreading the good word of Celine Dion. Since the start of the year I have been performing on the worlds finest cruise ships. The performances have been a great hit, especially when you think that the older generation who cruise, might not be too familiar with the work of Celine Dion. Most will know Celine’s song “MHWGO” but that’s from a film about a ship that sinks, this song always goes down well! I do get some worrying faces when I introduce the song and remind them of the film. Especially while in the middle of the ocean. This year so far, I have performed my show “An Evening with Celine Dion” onboard the QE2, The Queen Mary 2, various American owned ships including, Holland America, Princess, Crystal and Royal Caribbean. The show is fully booked for the rest of this year and most of next!

 

Welcome to the world of the tribute artist; don't forget Elvis Presley, who probably spawned more imitators than anyone. Usually tribute acts are born because the real artist no longer tours or has sadly died, for a little known singer like myself, this is definitely a leg up because the public generally want what they can't have. A good tribute act is sometimes the nearest someone will get to seeing a world famous artist, either because they simply do not tour anymore or the price of seeing the real thing is too expensive. A tribute act bridges the gap and helps keep the music of past artists alive, whilst keeping the careers of those current artists, in people’s minds.

The feedback from the sea cruising passengers has been fantastic. I also get to perform live with a huge resident band in massive theatres aboard these world class liners. I guess you can imagine, I am enjoying every minute of it. I also get to travel with my husband (manager), meaning I rarely get home sick!

 

I am lucky enough to have two-second row tickets for Celine’s show, on October 5. I cannot wait to see the show again. I’m as always keeping my fingers crossed that this time I am going to meet Celine. I have been told on occasion by people close to Celine that “Celine does know about me”, but as of yet my dreams are still to come true. Neil (Husband) has been in touch a couple of times with some people from AEG live to arrange a meeting, at the moment we are still waiting to hear. I will keep you posted of this. Please keep those fingers crossed and if it happens and I get the pictures of a meet and greet I will be back to share them with you all.

Hey that's right I performed in Malaysia in 2004, you have a good memory. I was in Malaysia a couple of months ago, the ship I was on docked for the day and I have a great time as a tourist. KL is a beutiful place to visit!
