cdfan32 Posted May 26, 2008 at 07:40 PM Posted May 26, 2008 at 07:40 PM I had a fantastic weekend in Paris and both the 24th and 25th were amazing....the 24th was by far the best show I've seen vocally (I know I said that about London on the 6th, but this was even better!!) She changed the vocal arrangements of a lot of the songs from the UK shows, which was great. TPOL was definitely live, as on the 25th she flubbed the first line ("the whispers in the morning of lovers sleeping...night"). The audience at Bercy on the 24th was AMAZING, the entire arena was on its feet the whole night and you could tell the French crowd adores her. The opening act was amazing as well and much more energetic and able to get the audience going. There was basically a 5 minute standing ovation while she tried to start singing My Love, and she was on fire the whole night. At the end, when she was going down below the stage for the last time she waved even with her fingertips until she was completely out of sight. They also started showing her leaving the arena on the screen. The audience and fans seemed much younger in Paris than in the UK shows, and there were a lot more hard-core fans there (can't recall how many people I've met who had seen her in Vegas and other parts of the European tour). Since I happened to be walking around the Champs-Elysees on Sunday and passed her hotel on Avenue George V, I also managed to take some photos. There were literally over 500 people there, it was a complete mob scene...in the end she had a police escort to help her leave. She was alone though, no Rene or RC. Look at the size of that rock!! Dionesque Posted May 27, 2008 at 01:04 AM Posted May 27, 2008 at 01:04 AM Thank you guys for all the photos and videos!! Anu, nice too see this video from in fron of the Greorge V hotel from Saturday! You know I've been there but I was just squeezed between other fans and you now know I'm rather small so I haven't seen Céline at all... So now I finally can see her, hehe - on Saturday I was only able to hear her... I stand behind Ramona but than a fat rude French girl pushed in between us, I lost Ramona (and anything else) fron my sight... *sigh* Anyway, I'm back from Paris and (apart of that miserable - for me - moments at George V on Saturday) these were amazing almost 5 days!!! It was my 4th time in Paris but 1st time because of Céline being there in the same time so I discovered a new, Célinish side of the city, hahaha! The shows on Saturday and Sunday were AWESOME - even if the setlist was the same as in Antwerp! The audience simply boiled and there was such a gigantic atmosphere in the hall!!!! It was worth every cent I paid for the concert tickets to be there in Bercy and if I should do it again - I would do it without thinking twice!!! I loved it there!!! :D On Saturday I sat in the 1st row of block F which was actually the last (24th) row of this block. So it was very high upon the stage but actually it was also cool to have this other seeing point. Finally I was able to see the stage in its full presence, with all the lights and other effects - it was really great! And I think the sound up there was even better than on the floor as the sound boxes are actually hanged upon the stage. I recorded full great quality audio bootlegs of both 24th and 25th shows and I hope I will be able to post them before going to Amsterdam next week. It was also fantastic to meet so many people I know from this forum!!! The first person I met was Ramona, just a few hours after her arrival on Friday... Than on Saturday I met the Finns - you are so friendly and nice, nano + Jenni + Miska!! Hope to see you all again in Amsterdam!! Than also Christine, Kimberly, Laura (LD1978), Estevam, Mischa (Viva Las Vegas) and some other guys!! I'm not sure but I think I also saw Cindy from NL at George V on Saturday - I'm not sure if you recognized me though, LOL! I had amazing time in Paris and actually it felt quite sad to go back home.... :( Céline was in great shape! My own highlights: Je sais pas, ESNRQ, My Love, S'il suffisait d'aimer, All By Myself, River Deep Mountain High and Pour que tu m'aimes encore as... encore! What a great, great show!! Céline was really touched by the audience!! The thing about singing "Je ne vous oublie pas" is new to me. We haven't seen anyone handing those little papers before the show and we (in our 24th row from the stage) haven't heard anyone starting singing this song.... Maybe it could have been nice idea to announce/arrange it here in the forum...? Maybe just an iea for the next time! Oh, and yes, as far as I'm concerned René and RC left to Montréal so they weren't there on the weekend. We saw Maman Dion - she sat in our block F, probably in the 5th row from the stage (I'm not sure about the exact row though). When she has been brought to her seat and took it with 2 bodyguards on her both sides, some fans came in front of our block and started taking photos of her... Well, personally I found it quite embarassing... :S No wonder why René took RC with him to Montréal... Hope to see you all again in Amsterdam!! Jenni and I stood on the huge flower boxes so we had a pretty good view on Celine. I recorded video and Jenni took some pics, it's all about teamwork...lol. I can't believe we waited 2 hours in the rain to see Celine from a distance. Yeah, some people were rude, they were pushing others to get a better view. I'm sorry you didn't see Celine at all on Saturday, I hope you have more luck in Amsterdam. Too bad you didn't make it to the Eiffel meeting on time. We left about 12.10 and walked to the spot where the pics were taken (at the end of the long green field, in front of the peace monument). I tried to call you but didn't get through and I don't know if you got my txt messages either. Anyway, it was nice to meet you and your husband. I hope to see you in Amsterdam! Hey everybody, I am back from Paris too, yes I was there in front of the George V on saturday OMG The shows of this weekend were AMAZING but especially the show on the 24th. The crowd went CRAZY for her I was in the upper sections left from one of the catwalks but everyone was standing up during the uptempo songs. I had a great overview and I still get goosbumps it was fantastic! I will have to sort through all our pics before I upload them here It's true that René and RC left for Montréal on friday around 4.30 p.m. because I saw them leave. Most of the fans who were standing there didn't even notice, it went really fast. My guess is that it's just a businesstrip and that RC wanted to come along. I LOVEDDD PARIS!!! Dionesque Posted May 27, 2008 at 12:21 PM Posted May 27, 2008 at 12:21 PM Anu, I got all your text messages and I think your call was also there but I missed it. The messages I read them all on time but somehow all my replies were blocked. Later on I sent you one message from my other mobile card and I think that one got delivered to you but it was already too late... never mind - we hope to have more luck next time, hehe! Yeah, it was a huge mess in front of George V and than this rain highlight... I was very very upset after Céline leaved as I haven't seen her AT ALL but fortunately I got more lucky on Sunday - still no autograph but I've seen her very well almost the entire time while she's been signing autographes and she even wayed to me so it made my day - maybe that's why I also enjoyed the Sunday concert even more than the Saturday one! Cindy, so you were the girl with the white shirt with "Montréal" on it, right?? I've been standing with Ramona and Christine and you brought the Amsterdam tickets to them but I simply wasn't sure if it were you so I kept silent, LOL! Guess I'm too shy.... I was the small girl with red hair and glasses. Maybe we'll get to talk to each other in Amsterdam! Would also love to meet the other Dutchies from the "4 Oranjes" team from your signature, hehe! Yeah, it was an amazing crazy long weekend in Paris and I can't wait to get back there, esp. if Céline gets back there for concerts again one day... hamiltonclare Posted May 27, 2008 at 01:10 PM Posted May 27, 2008 at 01:10 PM Yes it was good that we were able to stand without being asked to sit down. HOWEVER! ....... I could have cheerfully murdered the girl in front of me in rang 3 who held up a full size poster everytime Celine came to our side of the stage and completely blocked my view and prevented me from seeing Celine and taking close up photos. If you are reading this I hope you realise you almost spoilt a fantastic night. I was there to see Celine, not the back of your poster. I managed to video the beginning of My Love but the ending was ruined as you shoved the poster up and completely obliterated my view. You must have been infront of me - I don't know how I managed to not get out of my seat and wrap my hands around her neck. I don't mind people having banners and posters but it was in the air so much that there is not a chance that Celine wouldn't have seen it - think about other people, please!! Otherwise an amazing night, met some really cool people face to face for the first time and had a blast in Paris. Well, personally I found it quite embarassing... :S No wonder why René took RC with him to Montréal... I totally agree... Give maman Dion a break, come on! Everyone was after her, making pictures, some people even struggled their way between 2 rows to get close to her, almost pushing other people from their seats... The woman is in her 80's, for crying out loud! I don't hope this was someone from the forum, but at one point I noticed a girl with a bag going to Maman, also pushing herself a way to Mamans seat. And she gave all kind of stuff to her. Drawings, other stuff, it was an endless wave of papers and rubbish. I am sure Céline's mother is proud of her daughter and she likes some kind of attention, but this is just too much, really. I am sorry to say this, but please get a life! It was fun to see Michel Drucker though, and there was another famous French tv-host that I did not know, but many people were cheering. He was wearing a leather jacket. The girl with the bag also went to him, again making her way between 2 rows and bothering other people. They should lock her up, as far as I am concerned... Sorry if you are a member of the forum and you read this about yourself, but maybe you should try to find some kind of hobby instead of annoying other people.
