Love, Posted June 13, 2007 at 10:27 AM Posted June 13, 2007 at 10:27 AM How many of you have undergone a procedure in Cosmetic Dentistry? Have you had veneers, crowns, bridges, dentures, or even Lumineers® done? Have you ever wanted to have the "Hollywood Smile" and are willing to spend money on achieving that through cosmetic dentistry? Quote
denise Posted June 13, 2007 at 11:33 AM Posted June 13, 2007 at 11:33 AM I would love to have my teeth done but I'm not willing to spend my every last penny to do it. stevethefan Posted June 13, 2007 at 11:19 PM Posted June 13, 2007 at 11:19 PM Once I shelled out the money for one of the teeth whitening products through my dentist. The one I tried was where they make a mold of your upper and lower teeth, and then those become the trays you use at home with a special whitening gel. It took a few weeks of wearing the trays overnight with the gel to achieve the change. Although it worked, the problem I had is my teeth are sensitive, and the gel goes into your teeth but sometimes it would make my teeth extra sensitive. You also have to redo the process every so often depending on how much coffee, wine or cigarettes you consume since those things stain the teeth. Lately they seem to have many more choices. I've seen one where they can do it in one visit to the dentist (for whitening). Quote
Clari Posted June 14, 2007 at 08:22 AM Posted June 14, 2007 at 08:22 AM I want Lumineers but I'm scared of the Dentist... I had braces for four years and I'm still traumatized! etjetaimeencore Posted June 14, 2007 at 08:28 AM Posted June 14, 2007 at 08:28 AM I should have some but at the same time I had to wear a "corset" (is that the right word in english?) for an important back problem so I didn't want to do all! That was hard enough to have the corset. So my teeth are not perfect but it's not very important...now my back is cured that's the most important for me. Love, Posted June 15, 2007 at 06:58 AM Author Posted June 15, 2007 at 06:58 AM (edited) I want Lumineers but I'm scared of the Dentist... I had braces for four years and I'm still traumatized!Lumineers should be the reason why you shouldn't be scared. It's one of the greatest advances in the history of dentistry. Normally, there are not anesthetic (shots) involved, no drilling, and no grinding away of your teeth. It's amazing, and very comfortable, and last so much longer than traditional veneers. Also, you could choose whatever shape and shade you want, and the level of translucency. And there is a sheen to them that's not plasticky like traditional veneers. The only thing that Lumineers might be a little bit on the edge is the price. Depending on the dentist, you could be shelling out from $1000 to $1600 for a treatment for EACH TOOTH. Normally, people would do their upper eight teeth, because generally those are the most visible... Just the thought of spending up to $12,800 for this single treatment that takes about 2 to 3 visits to the dentist may sound crazy, but if you're in a career that demands image, or you really feel that your smile is super important, then it's totally worth it!
