How Does Celine Make Her Entrance?

how does she get to the middle of the stage in the beginning of a new day??? i was just watching some videos of the opening and i was wondering how she got to the middle so fast...did she simply run there or does she have some sort of trap door...i hope this question makes sense.

yup, there is a "magic" door, cut out from the huge LCD screen...you can barely see it though and at the point where she comes out, it's dark to disguise it...althogh the last time I saw the show, somebody forgot to shut the door...that was kinda funny!

I'm a twin mommy just like Celine!

Sophia and Anthony arrived on December 28, 2010

I've been fortunate to be in the front middle section and you can clearly see her walking up long before the majority of the audience.

Also, at the end of Love Can Move Mountains she "escapes" out the door in the middle of the big screen while the backup singers finish the song - this is when she changes into her River Deep Mountain High outfit. :kicking:

what does this mean

Before ANDHC & MHWGO she isn't using the "hidden door" in the screen, but she's walking on stage from the side of the stage at the back (behind the big stairs)..:)

what MustangSven is trying to say is that the people in the front rows see celine come out before the rest of the audience does.

You can see Celine's dark silhouette before she officially appears if you know where to look. it is konda cool actually cause a lot of folks who have not seen the show stare at the image of her coming down the stairs.

LOL!!! That's is how I was the first time I went...and I was like "oh hell no" I'm sitting on the aisle and she's going to walk right past me...lol!

LOL - We don't want you to miss anything !!

As ANDHC begins, the screen is showing a tape- she is actually slowly walking towards the audience from the back. You can't see if she enters from the "secret door" in the middle of the stage or from around the stairs to the left. Either way, if you're lucky enough to be in the front rows you'll be able to see her walking through the darkness before the people behind you. I am suggesting this because you can clearly see her long before the rest of the audience reacts to seeing her. In September I'll be 2nd row middle so I will confirm !!!!!!! :bye1:

does she come from the back of the theatre out of the audience or from the back of the stage

No she doesn't, it just appears she is. She definately makes her entrance from the side of the stage [before ANHDC].. when you're in the front and especially more to the right (from the audience's perspective). :)

Here are a few theories:

Theory One: There is a little LED door in the middle of the giant LED Screen, she quickly opens as soon as the roaring sound begins after the shattering of the glass.

Theory Two: She walks down gracefully from the right side until she sees the glow-in-the-dark Scotch tape that marks a giant X. That's where she stands still and waits for the spotlight to hit her, instead of nobody... :mdr:

Theory Three: She climbs down those magical set of stairs.... REALLY... REALLY FAST! :w00t:

Theory Four: She gets on all four and crawls as fast she can from the right wing and as soon as she gets to the middle, she pops up into diva mode! FELINE DION! *rrrrrrrrrr

I wrote a report recently on how technology is used in modern shows. I found an online document from the LiveDesign website on A New Day..., written by Steven Porter in 2003.

In the document, A New Day Dawns, Porter informs the reader that "the high resolution screen - built by Mistubishi Electric at a cost of $6 million for the theater... includes a special door at the bottom of the screen for Dion and other performers to enter and exit through the screen at the rear of the stage"

He cites Rick Mooney, the technical director of the show, "for the opening sequence, the screen displays a long staircase that seems to stretch far in the distance, and slowly walking down the staircase is the tiny figure of Celine Dion, seemingly miles away. By the time she reaches the bottom of the stairs, the real Dion has slipped unnoticed out of the door built into the center of the screen."

It's a fascinating read if any of you have a technical mind.

That describes what happens just perfectly. Once I'd seen the show a couple of times I started to focus on the bottom of the "stairs" and if you're very lucky (and sitting close enough) you can see Céline slip through the door.

I also liked the ending of I've Got The World On A String. You're concentrating so much on what's happening in the audience that you don't notice where Céline disappears to (through the door again) :D

It's a fantastic way to make an entrance. I've only seen the show once, but I'd listened to the CD before I went. I always wondered what the shattering of glass was all about, but I found out when I went to see the show!

Although, when I went to see it, A New Day Has Come was the opening song, and the chord that the band play before the mirror shatters was in a different key. It sounds so much different when you're actually there, than listening to it on CD. I can't listen to the CD anymore - it's just got no power!

I was totally transfixed on the silhouette moving down the staircase - I didn't even notice where she came from. When I go back, I'm still not going to look! It'll ruin it for me! That's assuming the opening sequence is still going to be the same. I hope it is, because I've been trying to explain it to my mother, who's coming with me in December.

Did anyone see the show when Nature Boy was the first song? Was there the staircase sequence on the screen when the piano played the introduction? I'm just curious.

I have A NICE story about the Celine's "magical entrance."

During our backstage tour of Celine's Colosseum back in January, the guide told us about the computer graphics of Celine walking down the stairs, and Celine's sudden hair transformation. The original graphic had Celine in her short, bobbing blond hair, coming gracefully and swiftly down the stairs.

NOW, the funny and "CUTE" part:

One night Celine decided to come on stage with beautiful long, brown hair! :w00t: :w00t:

As soon as the lights came on... the technicians were all shocked and scrambling (maybe even the audience) because the Celine on the screen was not the current Celine! :giggle:

So, the next day, they had to call up the CG technicians and creators at a studio in Los Angeles to have them super-impose and put long brown hair on the Celine animation as fast as possible! :D

I'm going to cry, I just know it...when I see her silhouette! :innocent:

I'm going to cry too - I know I will - and right infront of my mother too!

I know it'll the last time I'll see it, and to share the experience with my family's going to be really moving.

I saw a videoclip of the opening sequence that Jérémie posted on YouTube, when he filmed using his mobile, and my eyes started welling just watching that.

Can you post that clip, Neil? I have never seen that! ^_^
