zanif Posted May 12, 2007 at 03:12 AM Posted May 12, 2007 at 03:12 AM By ReutersFriday May 11, 05:25 PM GENEVA (Reuters Life!) - Johnny Hallyday, the ageing French rocker who moved to Switzerland six months ago to escape the French tax net, may be staying in the Swiss Alps after all, a Swiss newspaper reported on Friday. Hallyday's young wife Laeticia had said earlier this week on RTL radio that he was preparing to return to France following the presidential election win by his friend Nicolas Sarkozy. But the daily Le Matin reported that Hallyday subsequently told his long-time photographer friend Daniel Angeli: "For the moment, I'm not changing anything." Angeli said: "He certainly won't sell his chalet in Gstaad. He's very happy with it and will remain a Swiss resident". Hallyday -- who was at Sarkozy's campaign headquarters on Sunday when the right-winger's victory was announced -- remains "disgusted" by the high French inheritance tax, Angeli said. Laeticia had said Sarkozy's promise to cap taxes at 50 percent of earned income, the so-called "tax shield", meant that the jet-set couple would now return to France. Hallyday, borne Jean-Philippe Smet, has just flown to Canada to prepare a duo with Celine Dion, and then heads for Los Angeles to record a blues album, according to the paper. He has to spend six months and one day in Gstaad to avoid French taxes that include a wealth tax on capital of more than 750,000 euros ($1 million). winforlife Posted May 12, 2007 at 05:36 PM Posted May 12, 2007 at 05:36 PM L'envie was a great duet- Céline's voice was captivating. L'envie had a rock/musical feel-just wondering if it will be a more low key or another fast pace song. Unfortunately if it is recorded in French, it won't get airtime like D'elle in the US Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v119/LKlafter1/1367035680_small.jpg

Angel2006 Posted December 6, 2017 at 06:49 PM Posted December 6, 2017 at 06:49 PM I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Johnny Hallyday. I never really followed his career, because I don't speak French, but I know that Johnny was and is very much admired and beloved within the French community and beloved by Celine as well and I'm sure she is feeling the loss, along with many others today. I know that Johnny left behind a young wife in his passing and my prayers go out to her and to his family in this very sad and difficult time. 1 Quote
