Oprah speaks of Celine!

I'm currently watching Oprah, and Dianne Warren was on today's show. It's a show about how to be successful, and Dianne is apparently the top female song writer in the history of music--and her catalog is worth over half a billion dollars.

 

Needless to say, Oprah talked about how "BYLM" is her favorite song of all time. And Dianne talked about how she wrote it for her Dad, and Oprah got chills.

 

Then, sadly, Michael Bolton came out and sang a part of "BYLM", which was not good--but at least it was acknowledged as one of the greatest songs she's written!

 

Also, Dianne will apparently be working on Whitney Houston's comeback album---tsk, tsk, Whitney--shouldn't we be a bit more creative? Celine's moved on to fresh beginnings and new writers!

Hey Im with you! I totally adore Diane Warren and while I don't love EVERY song she's EVER written I tend to really like around 85% of her stuff and it seems that certain songs fit certain artists and those songs seem to find their way to those artists. I think Water From The Moon & Love Can Move Mountains were perfect for Celine along with several others Diane wrote. I wouldn't mind Celine doing another Diane song just as long as it's not too mushy but one of her more mature songs.

 

It's kinda weird reading some of the early posts in this thread being a bit negative about Diane cause that's kinda what I hear & read about Celine from people that just think of MYWGO and that's it. They don't know her full body of work and just have that narrow opinion.

I remember that!! That was hilarious! I couldn't stop laughing at the two of them fighting like kids in the car. They actually showed reruns of that not to long ago. I had to watch on the day they were in Vegas...it was funny when they kept getting lost, and going around and around in circles...sounds like something I'll do while there!

Current and past artist have sought out Diane Warren for her lyrics- http://realsongs.com/ Remember BYLM was a big hit for Céline esp. in the US.

It's apparent Céline has looked for new and different song writers so I don't expect to see Warren's name on any future Dion cds... although I could be wrong!

I think she's a good writer and she can write many styles and she still on the game after many years.. She have write very good songs on the Carrie Underwood album!

Becuase Celine has been there--done that. In order for her to gain NEW respect from NEW people she's got to keep us guessing...and she's done a great job of that so far this year!!

i watched these episodes also... and i loved the way gayle acted when she didnt leave the car until BYLM ended... and Oprah you should have an opinion bout BYLM

the thing is Dianne Warren has wrote many timeless songs and she still writes HITS today. I think she is an incredible songwriter and while some of her stuff seems formulaic, it is in fact very diverse. It can be rock, pop, country, rnb and very few songwriters can do all of this. The songs tend to work well with various productions and can suit many different artists.

 

I have great faith in Dianne and I believe that she writes amazing material and it depends how it is interpreted/produced/arranged which defines how good it becomes as a final product. Some (Britney, Jessica, Jojo) are rubbish but Joss Stone, Sugababes, Pussycat Dolls have decent Dianne tracks on their recent releases.

As some people have said here before, I wish Céline could do another song with Diane... I agree she has to move on and all, but I just love Diane's work...

 

Pity I can't watch Oprah here... She's the funniest of all times!!
