Josh Groban Looking Forward To Oscar Performance

The Academy Awards aren't until this Sunday (February 27), but Josh Groban is already getting excited. Groban will join Beyonce on the telecast to perform "Believe," the Best Original Song nominee he recorded for the soundtrack to the Polar Express. Groban said he can't wait.

"I look forward to the Oscars, ” Groban said. “That'll be a lot of fun to perform on the Oscars. It's been a dream of mine ever since I rehearsed on the Oscar stage when I was 17, without a record deal. To go back and do it as a professional, I just can't wait. It'll be a lot of fun."

Groban stood in for Andrea Bocelli at rehearsals for the 1999 Academy Awards show, after filling in for Bocelli and Celine Dion at an earlier Grammy Awards rehearsal. Groban performs Tuesday (February 22) at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

I looking forward to see his performance. :bye1:

Beyonce a triple threat at the Oscars

Beyonce may not be nominated for any Academy Awards, but she will be the main musical attraction at this year's Oscars ceremony. The singer will perform three of the five tunes nominated for best original song.

Beyonce will be singing two more Oscar-nominated songs at the Academy Awards--in addition to her previously announced duet with Josh Groban. Beyonce will perform "Look to Your Path" from Les Choristes, accompanied by the American Boychoir, and "Learn to Be Lonely" from the Phantom Of The Opera at the event on February 27. Billboard.com reports that there was speculation actress Minnie Driver would perform "Learn To Be Lonely," but sources say she was unable to appear due to scheduling conflicts.

Driver appears in the Phantom Of The Opera, but her singing was dubbed for the film. Driver did sing "Look To Your Path" which is played during the film's closing credits.

Beyonce and Groban will sing "Believe" from Polar Express. Carlos Santana and Enrique Iglesias will do the Oscar-nominated song "Al Otro Lado Del Rio," which is from the Motorcycle Diaries.

The 77th annual Academy Awards will be handed out February 27 at The Kodak Theatre in Hollywood and broadcast live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.

why she can performe 3 songs on the Oscars without being nominated? :angry2: :pissed:

Today I was on a walk and went past there and took a peek at the set-up and everything looks so beautiful..... (Though most of the red carpet is under a tented area) What I found amusing is they had like a bunch of metal barriers lined up with fake bushes attached to give the appearance of wonderfully trimmed hedges lining on side...... LMFAO They had a big Oscar statue in the center at the start of it and a bunch of smaller ones lined up and down each side..... *sigh* I wanna walk down it someday....... :in_love:

exactly. I think this year's Oscars is very boring, no glamour dress. no febulous performance, only Banderas and Josh's performance is ok.

Here is a review of this year's Oscars fashion:

AS predicted by fashion pundits around the world, the return to old-style Hollywood glamour was well and truly proven at last night's Oscars.

Wavy, pin-curled hair, long trains and dozens of diamonds were all a girl's (and some of the boys') best friends.

But as far as real fashion innovation was concerned, it was a pretty safe and super-styled bunch of red carpet dwellers.

With nearly every guest, nominee and presenter blessed with the luxury of having a fashion stylist, hairdresser and make-up artist on hand hardly a Jimmy Choo-ed foot stepped the wrong way.

But where was the fun in that? Where were the Bjork swan outfits? The Cher showgirl creations? The Celine Dion Boyle ballerina tutus? Bring back some questionable taste.

As previewed on the Milan fashion runways last week, black was well and truly back and red carpet regulars Drew Barrymore, Annette Bening, a Versace-clad Beyonce and a Chanel-ed Kirsten Dunst all followed the charcoal creed.

Generally shapes were tight, strapless and extremely form-fitting, with Hilary Swank's dark blue silk jersey dress from Guy Laroche one of the night's fashion highlights. I loved it. Swank's simple, backless gown was one of many of a thousand shades of blue, from dove grey to periwinkle, oyster, duck egg blue and cloud grey.

Salma Hayek wore navy and black Prada - beautifully, I might add - while Vanessa Paradis in Chanel and the blue-tuxed Johnny Depp were the closest thing we saw to people looking like they dressed without a stylist.

Lemon and gold both had a big run too, with Cate Blanchett's sleek Valentino gown teamed with an unexpected burgundy leather belt, evening bag and bejewelled shoulder clip.

Advertisement:

Young Emmy Rossum looked all grown up in ruby red Ralph Lauren and Harry Winston jewels, while a brunette Renee Zellweger also dazzled in a raspberry strapless gown from her preferred designer, Carolina Herrera.

Halle Berry looked chic in an iridescent taupe chiffon Versace gown while Kate Winslet shone among the subdued colours in a periwinkle blue Badgley Mischka dress. Scarlett Johansson wore an architecturally designed Roland Mouret gown and Fred Leighton jewels.

But among all of the exquisitely groomed guests, not all was perfect. And thank goodness for that. At least we'll have some water cooler chat today.

The frill tiered ``seafoam'' Christian Dior gown worn by Charlize Theron conjured up images of one of those toilet roll dollies. Luckily, her Bvlgari art deco (borrowed) jewels outshone her frock.

The stiff hair-do worn by Penelope Cruz gave her a conservative mother-of-bride look (sack the hairdresser) and the cleavage overload on Gwyneth Paltrow can be blamed on the frock's designer, Stella McCartney.

A broken foot and walking cane veered attention away from Melanie Griffiths' over-the-top pleated silk chiffon Versace gown and the cutesy baby-doll look, no matter how beautiful she is, didn't quite suit Gisele Bundchen.

Overall a safe, lemon, black and blue Oscar season. But please Bjork, come back. We miss you.

In class (since I go to acting school) someone also mentioned how embarrasing it must have been to be standing on stage and lose and have to go sit back down... bad choice to have them all standing up there.... and a girl in my class said all Chris Rocks' jokes could be heard during his performances at The Laugh FActory here in LA :glare:

where can I watch Beyonce performing Les choristes? because it is incredible even we can understand nothing what she sings lol

Celine is is the best-selling female artist. She performed 4 times at the Oscars, twice the same night. She has class, talent. And she is the only famous singer who sings in french.

Why on earth they invited Beyonce to sing the french song?

Probably she didn't understand a word of what she was saying. Where are the emotions? Celine would bring to the Oscars her amazing voice, talent and some emotion by singing on her native language.

$200,000 Oscar goodie bag

THE Oscar winners weren't the only ones who won at the recent Academy Awards. Not when the consolation gift bags for many of the non-winners and presenters were so good.

The official gift bag for presenters, performers and officials (who are unpaid) this year was estimated to cost US$110,000 ($179,014) to US$150,000 (up from last year's US$100,000 basket) and included:

A US$6,000 Samsung high-definition TV set

A Motorola limited-edition ultra-thin Razr handphone

A US$3,200 string of pearls

A dinner party at any Morton's, The Steakhouse, worth US$1,500

A US$700 Krups kitchen set

Shu Uemura cosmetics worth US$600

US$500 cashmere pyjama bottoms

Airline tickets, resort and hotel stays, spa treatments, a wine trip, a Caribbean cruise, perfume, jewellery, cosmetics and olive oil.

There were also dozens of unofficial gift bags given by private companies to nominees and other celebrities, reported USA Today.

The Victoria's Secrets package included a US$7,000 diamond-encrusted brooch.

The 'Everybody Wins at the Oscars' bag, estimated at US$35,000 to US$45,000, included a weekend at a Caesar's Palace penthouse in Las Vegas, Celine Dion concert tickets, a Swarovski crystal-studded T-shirt and US$9,000 in spending money.

The US$12,000 'It's Good to be Nominated' gift bag had designer handbags, clothing, spa trips and books and more.

Stars such as Oscar Best Supporting Actress winner Cate Blanchett (right) would have received about 20 such bags, reported UK's The Times.

Ms Kelly Cutrone, whose 10-year-old public relations firm has coordinated such giveaways, told Reuters that 'swag culture' has especially grown in the last five years.

Agreed Mr Lash Fary, president of gift bag-producing company Distinctive Assets: '(These days), you can't have an event without (a gift bag).'

It is something the stars have come to expect.

Mr Jim Dobson, whose public relations firm gave away 50 gift bags, each worth US$50,000, at the Sundance Film Festival, told the Chicago Tribune: 'They (the stars) hear there's these 20 places to get free stuff, so unless I give them free stuff, they don't want to do press.'

Some companies are more than happy to contribute, to get celebrity by association and media exposure in return.

Jewellery designer Scott Kay, who gives away about $100,000 worth of items every year, told Business Week: 'At the last American Music Awards, Alicia Keys (right) came back during rehearsal, and the things she selected, she actually performed in onstage. It's worth millions of dollars in marketing.'

A few brands are still valiantly resisting the trend.

'I think it's tacky... If you give it away for free, then it has no value... I don't respect anyone who does give it away,' said Ms Carolyn Brodie Gelles, global director of communications for the Harry Winston jewellery company, in a Toronto Sun report.

But you know it's a losing battle when even the recent Sundance Film Festival, created to promote small, independent films, was reportedly awash with freebies, such as fur coats, flat-screen TVs, Xbox games and Lasik eye surgery vouchers.

:shocking:  :glare: Gosh, why do they need all those goodies?? Aren't they rick enough already?? :angry2: :ermm: So, i guess we can expect many celebs to go watch Celine's show :w00t: what a waste of tickets for those that aren't planning to go see her. :whistling1:
