The Celine Dion Comeback

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

This year is one heck of a busy year for Celine as we all know. She's making a huge comeback with two albums, two perfumes, an A New Day... DVD, and a big world tour the following year. What do you think of all this? How successful do you think all these things will be? Voice your opinion here.

I think this is going to be amazing! Celine is going to knock everyone's socks off! I can't wait for everything to come out! I think that she'll make everyone change their point of view on her, but of course in a very good way. It's going to be absolutely incredible! I can just feel it. Celine's going to make it big time all over again. :w00t:

Celine will blow everyone's mind and return to the top...I know that with each release she's still gonna be portarit as "That Titanic theme singer" but she still has a lot to show and she want it bad!!!! working with new people, experimenting with different subjects we all know beside from the matter of lovin or hating it Celine was the only one capable of recording an album like miracle, or taking the Chance with AND....she's been taking some pretty risky moves....but just to demonstrate that she's the queen!!! and as Julie Snydar once said and prove...Celine's voice goes beyond everything and she's capable of singing the phonebook if she wants to.....

I guess this year will bring US fans one of the best year of new material and visuals such as the DVD for those of us who couldn't make it to the show....the new french album is so fresh, and great...... just can't imagine how the duet with Annie will be... the new english record..... and all those performances (AI, the special) waiting to be performed and watched with our heart in our throats!!!!

For sure this is going to be once again Celine's Year!!!! and even more such a Treat for US!!!! :w00t: :kicking:

In her fan's eyes, maybe. But to the general public, she's been gone for years.

i know, but i don't really consider selling out every show for 5 years straight in vegas as "going away". but i guess artistically she's been gone because she hasn't made a new album?!

I gotta disagree with you there hun. I think "A Cause" and "Immensité" are amazing songs. I love them! I think with this, Celine might hit the younger public more. This woman is flying to the top of the charts this year. She is just gonna fly like the speed of light! :w00t: Love it!

I could be totally wrong here, and correct me if I am, but it seems to me that the issue you're having isn't the songs themselves, but the fact that Celine is doing more uptempo numbers nowadays and not a complete ballad-fest.

and wouldn't it be ironic if it becomes your favorite album? :giggle:

I'm glad Celine is doing something new and fresh, I believe the majority of us feel this way. :hmm:

i did expect a ballad fest and why not after all, i don't think uptempo is Celine's thing or that french is for uptempo but these 2 tracks are absolutely NOTHING special. just because some are excited she's going uptempo doesn't mean that a little beat is enough to make a song a hit. i expected something powerful for immensite and there's nothing there

SNRQ was pretty good (more commercial than usual and still good!!)

the dark cover and the french writers giving her lyrics that have to do with "woman" and all that pointed me to something totally different than immensite and a cause...mooooore quality stuff, more quality doesn't HAVE to mean a sappy ballad ofc

i just don't see how these songs will pass the test of time, noone will remember them after 2 months on the radio

I definitely dont think upbeat stuff shows Celine at her best. She definitely shines with mid-tempo and ballads, especially orchestral productions however I think A Cause has potential to be a great 3rd single. It has a great production and its pretty different to anything she has done in French so far.

To me, celine can sing anything. She is very diverse and although mostly always commercial isn't afraid to play around with styles and that is one of the things I love about her. I would prefer she doesn't do more plasticky pop and sticks to classy productions so I just hope D'elles is all top notch and no stuff like TLS.

I never even knew the song the orchestra was playing........

I couldn't disagree more. I think these 3 songs are amazing (every one in it's own way) and this IS quality, maybe not for you but that's just difference in opinion. Too bad you're dissapointed with the songs (I can imagine how you feel, I felt the same way when I heard I knew I loved you) but I bet you're gonna love alot of new songs since I think that new albums will be very diverse. Don't loose faith :flowers:

You bet. Yes, for every fan, it's very exiting but I'm not sure Celine gonna be n#1. Fortunatly, the world tour will make people talking about her. I think it will be a sucess. :() But what we've known in the 90s is over, the won't return in the past. Knock on wood :flowers:

I wouldn't want the craze of the 90's to come back anyway. I mean please - the I'm so glad the Céline robot is gone and you hear it in the new songs! Much more fun and happiness in her voice. No shrieking.

Yeah, i really optimist about this HUGE comeback!

In the first way, i really think she finally found herself in this french album and she really know how everything works in the business.. Maybe i'm just too crazy about the clip of SNRQ but with her looks, her hairs, her movement, it's really perfect and how a true diva must be..

For the english album we just don't know anything so we'll see.. And for the tour, it will be her biggest ever i think (or i hope) because it's been like 9 years she haven't do any concert in Quebec and any other place in the world, and even non-fans want to see her because it will be an evenement!! I'm pretty exciting about 2007!!

I really beleive she has the potential for a come-back, since I, as a European fan see Celine as long gone out of the lights, with a few exceptions primarily fans know about.

I can't wait for her European tour, since it's going to be the first in like 8 or 9 nine years. let's not forget that nthe last time she really toured in Europe was in 1999. I for one am already thinking of seeing her both in Bercy and in Berlin or London (if she comes to those places), since we all know that France gets the French-language concerts and the other parts of Europe are given an English language title list.

As for D'elles, I already said it seems like my new favorite French album of hers. A Cause is simply magestic and there is something very charming about Immensite. In fact, it is not the up tempo beats that enchant me (although I do beleive it was high time for her to switch to something new as the ballads should be left where they belong - in the 90's... And please, no Miracle... the only Miracle that this created for me was almost turning me way from her and I'm still wondering if I should buy this album in any form, but for the sake of the collection...). It is actually the wonderful orchestration which is enchanting. Because those songs are really orchestrated and only the master performers know how important this is to make an evergreen, not simply a hit. So, yes, I congratulate Celine and her producers and musicians on this decision. Thumbs up for the wonderful, miraculous, tremendous orchestration!!!

Of course, I would expect something not less than amazing for the English language album. Now she's not only the MHWGO performer, she's also the star from Las Vegas, the person who was first to put on a gigantic show of such dimensions that nobody could've imagined before. Things like the gigantic Confessions Tour by Madonna and Mylene Farmer's heart-stopping and breath-taking Avant que l'hombre a Bercy did actually appear only 3 years after Celine made this show. Of course, it is true that AND put her off the map for many fans like me, because I could've never imagine having the money to visit even a quarter of a show of Las Vegas... For me it was a "dream-on." So, back to the point about the English language album - I do certainly hate the fact that she's collaborating with Timbaland, because there is nothing I hate more that the usually vulgar, heartless, soulless, emotionless and certainly everything but intellectual hip-hop and r&b low culture MTV so successfully promoted for this decade, but for me the fact that an icon (yes, not a star, an icon) like Madonna (who definitely cannot sing, but always has something to say, and is one of the most smart and intelligent people in today's music industry) is collaborating with Timbaland on her upcoming album in Fall is already some kind of a relieve. Maybe Celine will be even on the way of getting a new timeless hit better than MHWGO. But if the songs are anything like I knew I loved you, which suffered a tragic and very painful Oscar performance (here a comparison with the sad performance of O mio Babino Caro by Callas in London 1974 could be made), I could already predict a tragedy.

And as a last note - please, please, Celine, leave Let Your hard decide as a B-side on Tous les Secrets. It is a beautiful song, but there is no need to fill a new album withthe old songs, it just doesn't make sense. And don't do something like a 2 cd album, this is disastrous and shows lak of inspiration and just putting everything you have senselessly on one album...

Phew... congratulations to everybody, who read till the end :)

And for anyone, who thought this is targeted against Celine, you should've seen me yeasterday trying to take my breath after hearing the Cherie FM presentation... I was seriously, no joke, on the verge of tears... and as a fan of 12 years, who's never got the chance of seeing her live on any occasion for reasons unfortunatelly not depending on me, I beleive I will at least cry throught a Celine concert, if I at all somehow retain consciousness throught the whole thing... :D

For me she is still at the top, I mean selling nights after nights ain't nothing.

But yeah they are really making some effort this time, it will be a true busy year for sure!

I do not care if she has to make no. 1 hits, I only care that her albums will do good, but as long as she pleases her fans I am fine with it all!

i think that celine will come back on the charts and in the sales of her both albums... but i can't imagine myself listening to an RnB song from Celine even though Timbaland songs for nelly furtado and justin timberlake were hits everywhere... but, i mean i knew and loved celine because of her high notes ballads... would i accept celine singing an RnB songs???? well i don't know...

there another point that frighted me... if we suppose that celine WILL BE BACK (and i mean everywhere, charts, awards, sold out world tour....) but at the end of her world tour, she will try to have another child. and she said that she wants to give the other baby the same as Rene Charles ==>>>>> which means a 2 year hiatus...

isn't going to be bad to do this huge effort and work hardly to RETURN to the charts and awards and after 1 year, have a 2 years hiatus for another baby???

she will return to the same status as the one of 2002... coming back with an album.....

maybe another theme song from a movie?! i mean a good one...

and maybe like theme song for tv drama in some countries with different songs!

in this way it will surely help for the comback you all talking about! hhahaa

Courage don't you dare fail me now!

WOW, I really enjoyed reading this. I agree 100 % with everything you wrote. We have very similar opinions :thumbsup2: The only thing that bugs me is the fact about her french and non-french concerts on her next tour. OMG I didn't even thought about totally different tracklist. I was planning to go see her for the first time :w00t: in Paris but now I think I shoud go to Paris and somewhere else cause I want to be on both french and english concerts and that's gonna be really tough cause of money problem  . Well, I guess I better start saving some money

The problem is US's radio stations. The English album will be scarcely recieved airplay since American radios ignore Celine. I'm sure.

Nevertheless, the album's sales will likely to be huge as there must still be strong royal fan base in US.

I am really happy you agree on this one, feels good to have someone who thinks alike:) Anyway, just think of Live A Paris and the consecutive World Tour, or of A l'Olympia, which is after The color of my love, but actually represents songs from Dion Chante Plamondon/Des Mots Qui Sonnent. Or better yet - think of the difference between Au Coeur Du Stade and any other LTAL concert you've seen/heard in any way... I think I might be majorly broke if I have to buy tickets for both a French and an English show, but this will be simply starving for a dream, sl its worth it all the way... :))))

If Celine starts to sing RnB and more modern stuff, I wouldn't mind that at all. I think it would be a good change. But, it would be nice if she could stick in some ballads here and there. That way it's fair to everyone.

I could not agree more. We Need A Freshness. I could listen to the ballads all day but in order for Celine To hit it big I Think she is going to have to put A Mary J. Blige twist on her upbeat songs. ANd I think that will happen because she is working with some very current people such as NeYo and others.

Celine Dion is amazing I defantily hope she wont leave her ballads out either but we need a variety I think in this next English Albums.

If this is accomplished I can see it know. A sweepout at the Grammys and other awards and More # one hits; New and Royal Celine Fans. Concerts Tours, Tv shows Ect. My Only problem is when this will be accomplished which I know it will Celine Will Shock everyone and have another hiatus. Celine was flying high in the public before she took a break. and I LOVE celine but i must be honest that Break Caused a lot of people to pull away from her fan base. I Love Celine and whatever she does she will be great and a household name in my house.

Posted (edited)
that's exactly what i am saying, if she planning for her comeback on the charts, and planning for another child after the world tour she doesn't have to take 2 years hiatus, maybe a one year is enough but during it she must have some appearances on the tv and maybe an english collection album... and during her early months of pregnancy, she must record an english album so she could release it after her comeback from her 1 year hiatus... And this time it's gonna be special both way cause there's new english and new french album and I really wanna hear both albums live on concert so... :hmm: But you're right, she's worth all the hoping, saving money and trying to fulfill these dreams  .

It's going to be an exciting next few years for Celine fans. Although I will miss being able to see her in Las Vegas, I think the time has come for a change and besides, she had extended her LV contract so she ended up being there longer than planned. Sometimes I think that she should have taken more time to make the new albums, although she is still making the English one. I really want both albums to be successful. It would be great to see her have a hit in the US, but she has a lot of competition, and the music business has changed drastically in the last five years with CD sales declining and people downloading individual songs increasing. I really would have liked to see Celine get a great producer and take the time to create her best English album. That's not to say that she can't make a good album in less time, but I worry about how it will all come together. I don't know who is producing her English album, but I hope it's someone great. Someday

I'd like to see her work with someone like Bob Rock, a fellow Canadian. He's actually famous for working with very "un-Celine" bands like Metallica and Aerosmith and The Tragically Hip, but I think someone like him or Mutt Lange could put out a great album that could possibly get more radio play.
