The Newbie Syndrome

Upon your arrival at Celine Channel Forum how many of you began posting multiple threads inquiring about Celine this and Celine that; or you posted excessively all over the place? You were either uber-excited about finding information about Celine that you have been scratching your head upon for the last several months, or you were uber-excited about getting noticed. You want instant answer, acknowledgment, and gratification. This is the Newbie Syndrome.

 

AND then your thread gets locked. And then another. And then another.

And after a little while, you get the idea that you should search the forum first before you attempt to make another thread about something that has already been discussed.

 

And then you go into Newbie Syndrome remission.

 

During this remission, you start reading the forum, going back in time. You lurk and you read and you read and you lurk for days and days. You start reading all of these old threads, and you're SO entertained, SO intrigued. All of a sudden, you start replying to these old threads from 2004, even the rumored ones. And the other members thought they were experiencing a deja-vu or there was a new development on an idea proposed two years prior, when in fact, it was only a newbie that posted "Cool! I wish Celine had done that!" or "Only Dolly Parton would say that about Celine, and get away with it!"

 

And then you realized that the Newbie Syndrome has resurfaced.

 

Suddenly some of the older, seasoned members start getting ticked. However, the newer members just post and reply to those old threads too, as they usually do with EVERY thread, without realizing that they have caught some of this Newbie Syndrome too.

 

Then the threads get locked or ignored, and then you go back into Newbie Syndrome remission.

 

Some people fully recover from this syndrome, and there are some that have yet to...

I was kind of like that too.. I didn't create many topics because I thought "Oh my, Everyone knows about it, I'll sound stupid if I ask" or something like that...

I wasn't so addicted to it yet, so I came by just to download stuff and sometimes answering to some topics... Then I started being addicted each passing day, and became what I am today...

 

Well later I finish answering this topic because my mother is just pissing me off here!!! I'll be back, i promise!

So, as I was saying, I'm not a newcomer, but sometimes i see a topic up and I just forget to see its date and after I have answered it i see it's pretty old and I shouldn't have done that!! It's really rare but I do it

Hmmm.. I did a lot of unnecessary spamming and Bellamy had to tell me to stop. Other than that I don't think I suffered much from the NS.

Oh I've had newbie syndrome in other forums/communities. I do remember that when this forum opened I joined a little late and I wanted to catch up to everyone else and post in ALL the threads.

NOPE. ) I'm seasoned and well-reasoned. :P

When I post something, there must be some relevance to it.

 

This is a result of many, many observations and a philosophical insight on things that apparently happen. Merely, I just want to point it out (and poke fun at it )

 

In addition, this thread is a funny and fun thread

I usually don't create topics unless I know for sure it's not already there or I think it's on the important side..and things that I would like to share with others if I find them..

 

When I first joined here, I read a lot, but didn't really post for a while..then I came back here and posted a lot every day.

I totally had it in the beginning. Starting up way old topics (Sorry guys )

AND I opened my own silly topics

2 years later and I`m sort of getting the hang of it

I'm here since the first day so I never had the NS. But when I found out the gymnastics boards I lurked and lurked and read topics from 2000. I searched and read topics about the Sidney Olympics. I had so much fun. But I didn't dare replying, it's annoying.

yeh Damien, when i came, a whole bunch of spam topics were up and i sure had fun! whoa, i spammed like mad! Vic didnt seemed to mind i didnt dare post topics when i first came i just hung around for the first few days figuring out how to use the forum

Well i think its cute when they all arrive here new, we all did it, the only thing i dont like is when the regulars belittle them or take the mick, the worst one is when some one puts WE HAVE ALREADY HAD THIS TOPIC PLEASE CLOSE IT how rude

But truly, It's the human experience to exist, and to be remembered for their existence. It could be the BBBIIIIIGGGGEST thing like Lance Armstrong or in the little things... like... for some people, being able to leave a relevant message on a public forum... it's quite worthy! (and like Marie said, it's "cute" ^_^ )
