stevo Posted April 7, 2007 at 05:12 PM Posted April 7, 2007 at 05:12 PM Hello all you lovelies. I was just reflecting on Celine- as I do quite often and realised she's all I frigging listen to, despite having well over 4000 songs on my iTunes (450 of them Celine). Then I was thinking it's ok to listen to her almost exclusively as she's my fav celebrity, fav singer, I love her. I'm fanatical about her. She has 'been there' throughout more or less everything I've experienced so when I listen to her music I'm brought back. The song which really sticks out for some reason (in fact there are 2) are Ten Days and I Surrender. I really do believe Ten Days was somehow written especially for me- it may not be my favourite song but it really strikes a chord. When I came out to my parents, I was 19, at Uni and had come home for Easter. In fact it was on March 31st (Mum & Dad's Anniversary-oops) and I was home for Ten Days- I'm really not lying. I had just got ANDHC and it was the soundtrack to my fabulous first year at St. Andrews. After I told my parents and they reacted quite badly- my tough policeman Dad crying at the dinner table and my Mum ignoring me....I just fixated on Ten Days. Ten Days and I'm all alone...at the doorway of my heart...somethings have changed but I'm still the same...I feel the pain but feel no shame...And the rain really was coming down on a sunny day. I wanted to die. It sounds cheesy but that album is something that really helped keep me strong- and I was in love love love for the very first time with my boyfriend Paddy who I'm still very much in love with, after nearly 6 years. He's the best. And I Surrender is the song that was written for us- and each time Celine mimes it I think of us. ....and forsake this solid ground and give up this fear within, of what would happen if they ever knew, I'm in love with you- cos I'd surrender everything...I'd hold you in my arms and never let go...I can't survive another night away from you...and now I need to live the truth (i.e that I enjoy boys-or boy). That's why I can't stand people slagging ANDHC. It's an amazing album. It's got some of Celien's BEST songs ever on and the whole release was buggered up. GTSW instead of IS or even SFL or something new and different for Celine?! Crap. Quote
DianaLuts Posted April 7, 2007 at 05:20 PM Posted April 7, 2007 at 05:20 PM I'd also say I surrender was written "for me". i never liked it at first but then it dawned on me. Quote

Mozinha Posted April 7, 2007 at 06:06 PM Posted April 7, 2007 at 06:06 PM L'amour existe encore was written for me. That's exactly how I picture love in my head. Sometimes I feel like Luc Plamondon stole the words right out of my mind. Je t'aime encore is basically the story of a pretty much unfinished story of mine.Oxygène is just what I feel these days, like I can't breath with so much work to do, it's overwhelming!Je crois toi is basically how I feel about Celine. tativale Posted April 7, 2007 at 06:22 PM Posted April 7, 2007 at 06:22 PM Nothing's broken my but heart is basically a crap love story that I had in the past lol haha long time ago. I can't think about anything else -- I have songs that I love and that brings me something positive such as: on ne change pas, a new has has come, I'm alive, rien n'est vraiment fini, pour que tu m'aimes encore, that's the way it is and so on and on lol Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/tativale/lildoll.gif"Sometimes we talk with our eyes and it says more than 10,000 words" moiIt's always possible to change! I still hope that in the future we will reunite. celine5-5 Posted April 7, 2007 at 06:57 PM Posted April 7, 2007 at 06:57 PM I feel like I can relate to almost every Celine song in several ways. "Refuse to Dance" is one I often easily relate to, because it's message tells people to be yourself, and to not give into the pressures around you, if they aren't you. It's also a very elegant song as well. I can also relate to "Ziggy", because we all know what it feels like to like someone, but for them to not like you back. And we could all agree with Celine as she sings "Quelqu'un que j'aime". "I Remember L.A." is one I associate with when my dad lived in CA, he has since moved back to IN (where I live), and that song makes me think of how I miss CA. "Pour que Tu M'aimes Encore" kind of described how I felt after coming out of a relationship with a horrible ending. After being a victim of infedility, my ex dangled the idea of us getting together again in front of my face. While I still wanted to be with her, this song described how I felt. "Cherche Encore" to me is a very inspirational song because, it just kind of tells you to keep looking and move on after you've been hurt. "Where is the Love" and "Miles To Go", are both very easy for me to relate to. "My Heart Will Go On" often describes how I feel when I lose a family member or friend (not necessarily to death), or a really big change occurs. "On Ne Change Pas" often hits home for me because I've always been the same person, but so many things around me have changed. "En Attendant Ses Pas" describes how I feel about my relationship life because I'm kind of waiting for someone to be with for at least a while. Someone to kind of fill that gap in my life. This song also describes how curious I am about that person and who it will be. "Papillon" is about freedom and being content, which are both feelings I love experiencing. "Water From the Moon" often describes how I feel when I really like someone. "A New Day Has Come" is probably my very favorite song in the world because it talks about change a lot, and it can be any kind of change. When you're young, change is something that occurs all the time. "Et S'il N'en Restait Qu'une" for me puts to words and says that if things in my life didn't happen the way they did, i would probably be someone else. This really isn't what the song is meant to be about, but that's kind of how I see it. If I was still with my unfaithful ex, life for me would probably be a lot worse. She was a horrible person in general and I deserve so much better; I shouldn't have ever been caught dead with her. And even though "Et S'il N'en Restait Qu'une" doesn't directly speak about this, it's the way I translate it. Except for me, it would be "Et S'il N'en Restait Qu'un, Je Serais Celui-la". Overall, I feel as if every Celine song was "written for me", because I can relate to every one in a different way. I guess this is why I like her music so much. Whenever asked about what type of music I like, I always say 'everything', but Celine just is kind of the home base for me. In a way, her music is my musical home. I guess she's just that wonderful! amelie Posted April 7, 2007 at 08:41 PM Posted April 7, 2007 at 08:41 PM Well "i surrender" is a song every gay can relate to including me BUt i think i relate to most Celine songs, cause either i felt that way at some point or she just makes you feel the way the lyrics describe cause she's such a good singer.and as she's said singing includes acting.she's great to distinguish some (the power of love, just walk away, its all coming back, all by myself,i don't know, water from the moon, immortality, tell him, lets talk about love,je t'aime encore,l'amour existe encore,j'attendais, contre nature, dance with my father,to love you more,i knew i loved you,s'il n'en restait qu'une, all the tracks from ATWall the tracks from SISDA and here's more Tout l'or des hommes,Apprends moi,,Rien n'est vraiment fini,a new day has come,i surrender, when the wrong oneif you asked me to, ,with this tearpour que tu m'aimes encore, je sais pas, cherche encore, destin, les derniers seront les premiersle monde est stone,le blues du businessman, ziggybecause you loved me, seduces me,flythe reason, love is one the way, miles to go,us,where is the loveje ne vous oublie pas,ma nouvelle france,ce n'etait qu'un revelove is all we need, faith,in his touchthink twice, only one road, next plane out, love doesn't ask why, refuse to dance, the colour of my loveif love is out the question, where does my heart beat now Quote
Alex_Incognito Posted April 7, 2007 at 08:49 PM Posted April 7, 2007 at 08:49 PM Wow! Sooo many to choose from! I'm sure we can all relate to most of them! When "A New Day Has Come" came out, that was such a big thing for me. I was 16 and I had fallen in love for the very first time, it was such a great album to go along with that. Of course, after that, songs like "Water From The Moon" et "Nothing BrokenBut My Heart" fell into place, but Celine is a great artists. I think this is why she still sings, she knows what an influence her music is on our lives. Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990

Tal Posted April 7, 2007 at 10:20 PM Posted April 7, 2007 at 10:20 PM Awww Stevo that was really touching! LBDB is the song I felt was written for me, or about me. I'm successful in my work, make a good living but its not what I wanted to do. And that song explains it perfectly. Quote I live my life like a runawayI hide my dreams in a special placeI'm waiting here for my prince to comeTo save me from the darkness...
Thomas Posted April 7, 2007 at 10:29 PM Posted April 7, 2007 at 10:29 PM I knew you'd say that, Tal and I'm saying exactly the same song. Every day that goes by seems like another wasted opportunity and the chance to better yourself and actually achieve something gone. I don't want to do what I'm doing and I don't want to live my life the way I am, but nothing ever changes. And before I know I'll be looking back at a life of wasted dreams. I'm sick of wishing for things to be better, I have to make the effort to change my life while I still can. Okay, well now I'm totally depressed so I'm going to jump out of the nearest window.... denise Posted April 8, 2007 at 03:20 AM Posted April 8, 2007 at 03:20 AM For me it's I Want You To Need Me. I recently broke up with my boyfriend. It took me 5 years to realize that he wasn't into the relationship as much as I was. And the sad thing is what made me realize it, is that he applied and accepted a job in another state without ever talking to me about it. So, we sold our house and went in different directions. Even the video of that song defined our relationship. Now I need to get to the point where "That's the way it is" will be the song that's written for me. I can relate to a lot of Celine's songs and specific lines to many as well but for me the song I'd say was written for me is "Water From The Moon" - I just feel like Diane Warren was in my life when she wrote this song.
