There's been a hype around SNRQ and an english version of it since we 1st heard the song, and the belief only grows stronger after watching the videoclip and finding out she records the video for the 2nd single now

Recording 2 videos in a little time and in the same set in New York also indicates to 2 versions of the same song

So what will it be?

 

i wonder what the lyrics for the english SNRQ would be like...totally different?a translation?or just a similar concept.Celine saying to an english speaking audience that "if only one remained, it would be her" doesn't sound good to me, too cocky.its great for french but i don't think english crowd would buy that.they could keep the concept about love cliches but not have her say "i would be that ooooone" all the time, sounds like a superhero

 

any thoughts?

it's not an easy matter ...this should be her big comeback , the first single is the most important part here and it would be an indication as to whether radio stations still play her songs .

i think SNRQ is one of her best singles ever however i fear the english version would not sound as good - i worry about the lyrics and about diffrent arrangments .

other than that , i just want to hear something new - 100% new regarding her english career .

having said that - i'm not sure they'll come with something better than SNRQ so as u can see i'm on the fence here really...usually i'm against recycling songs and all but this one is not just another song - it's one of her best ones

Gogo, they won't surely top SNRQ quality-wise as it's one of her FINEST ones but I'm afraid she needs to be commercial if she is to get "this comeback" everybody is talking about here and there and everywhere.

seb - u probably remmember that one of the first things i wrote after hearing this song was "i wish they'll make an english version" ...that's how good this song is . i wont say it about any other of her french songs but this one has a great potential .

having said that ,IDAN was a great single too and look what happened there - we r still talking about sony...let's not forget it , not for even 1 sec

Well...i never thought of this being the 1st single from the english album,didn't cross my mind at all.for the 1st english single i'd want something different, more commercial, not french recycle.i don't believe THAT much in the song (an english version especially and in the video (definately not suitable for an international comeback imo) but its great as a french 1st single released months before the album to let the audience know what's coming.i'd like to see as single from the english album but some time after the release.cause maybe i don't think its good for lead english single but it should be shared with the english speaking audience

The only reason the english version MAY be already recorded is cause they made the french video that week, it makes sence to make the english one while they're at it

it is a way ... Although, I think the english lyrics won't be just a simple translation ... they'll b very very different, but with the same message.

and what if the english version was released as a single (maybe with 1-2 more tracks from D'elles) to promote the french album and get Celine in the spotlight before the release of the english album and then release the lead single for the english album!!!LOL

I'd say yes and no : the music is really good, especially the dramatic side, I'd prefer this to some monotonous RnB song. However, the lyrics are kind of over-the-top, not sure they could work for an English audience, especially for Céline who's being stigmatised as a kitsch singer by English media.

Yes. I Don't Know is one of her best songs, regardless whether it's new or a "translation" - it works in both languages, and I really like the echo effects they added to the English version (she used to use a lot of them at the time)
