celinedionsfan Posted March 27, 2007 at 02:17 PM Posted March 27, 2007 at 02:17 PM I had to have the motherboard replaced on my computer. A friend of a friend did that for me at no charge. I did not have a recovery disc for him to use. I still can't find the recovery disc. He installed a copy of Windows XP professional which, of course, can't be validated. Several months ago, I copied nearly every file that was on my hard drive to an external hard drive. Also, all the files that were on the computer's hard drive are still there. Is there any way to re-install the version of windows xp that I originally had on my computer from any of those files? Also, I have no sound device detected on the computer. Any suggestions as to how to restore that? Quote http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h24/celinedionsfan/candmsig8.jpg

Any suggestions as to how to restore that? Well, seems to me that if you want all of your old stuff back, you'll just have to hook up your exteral hard drive to your current system. And as for the sound device... do you have a sound device? If you do, you might need to fiddle around with some of the sound configs in your control panel. Pehaps the reason that your system cannot detect your sound device is because you've switched ports or the cord may be loose. If you need more clarification, I can explain it much better through a one on one chat. PM me if you need anymore help. I'm currently taking an Integrated Technologies class and it involves everything you could possibly think of on a computer, so if I don't have the answer, I can surely ask someone for you. AllCeline Posted March 28, 2007 at 08:54 PM Posted March 28, 2007 at 08:54 PM You won't be able to re-install Windows XP with the same product key if it's been validated on a separate computer already-- your only options are to either find your operating system re-installation disc, or purchase a new license from Microsoft (or of course, just buy a new copy of XP). Chances are that the system isn't detecting your audio device simply because you don't have the proper driver(s) installed. Be sure you know the sound card that's installed in your PC, then go to the company's website and download and install the proper driver. Good luck! Hope this helps! Probably because I never have to pay for it. But it is user-friendly. You just have to be a Windows user. They have these things called the "Windows Tour", it great. But if your copy is geniune. You can call Mircosoft transfer the license to your new hardware. They'd give your a new key to active your windows. Try find out what's your sound card first, then find a driver for it. Best way to help you is find someone knows what to do work on your computer directly. Excuse me but how is calling Microsoft support each time you change something in your computer configuration user-FRIENDYL!? That's beyond me. And don't get me started on the clogged interface, slowness and unresponsiveness of Windows after already one week use. It's ridiculous. Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg
