Céline's Blues Posted March 21, 2007 at 06:55 PM Posted March 21, 2007 at 06:55 PM Spector trial causing buzzBy MICHAEL RECHTSHAFFEN -- Sun Media Phil Spector had a new look -- and his wife Rachel Short on his arm -- as he arrived for his murder trial yesterday. (Nick Ut, AP)HOLLYWOOD -- It seems like it has been ages since we've had a juicy celebrity trial in these parts worthy of a Robert Blake or a Michael Jackson. But things are definitely looking promising this week, with jury selection commencing in the murder trial of famed music producer and firearms enthusiast Phil Spector. Four years ago the man who brought his trademark "Wall of Sound" recording techniques to acts as diverse as the Beatles, Leonard Cohen and the Ramones, was arrested after B-movie actress Lana Clarkson was found shot to death in his sprawling castle of a home outside of Pasadena. While the reclusive Spector has always proclaimed his innocence, insisting that Clarkson's death was an accidental suicide, prosecutors aren't buying the "kissed the gun" defence. When he showed up outside the courthouse on Monday, Spector's appearance was a far cry from the mad-scientist look he was sporting back in 2003, with his grey fright wig replaced by a sleeker, blonder number. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the judge has permitted TV cameras in the courtroom, when the trial begins April 30. And while Spector's defence team might be looking for prospective jurors who are familiar with his artistic contributions, don't expect Celine Dion to be among them. Back in 1998 the two were supposed to work on songs for her Falling Into You album, but the brief collaboration ended on a sour note, although the official word from Dion's camp was that prior European tour commitments didn't allow sufficient time for Spector to work his magic. Mind you, the CD did include a Celine cover of River Deep, Mountain High, the song Spector originally produced for Tina Turner, and that title probably sums up just how close they came to agreeing on material. http://jam.canoe.ca/Music/Artists/S/Specto...pf-3797017.html Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg

stevethefan Posted March 22, 2007 at 01:00 AM Posted March 22, 2007 at 01:00 AM If there are any unreleased recordings done with Phil Spector (if any were done at all) I would like to hear them but I have a feeling that will never happen. It's unfortunate that such a creative genius like Phil Spector, who obviously has had a great track record with everything he did in the sixties has to have so many demons and be so hard to work with. Even though I would have loved to have heard songs that he would have produced with Celine it's probably better for Celine's sake that all of that is passed. Quote
celinefanonline Posted March 22, 2007 at 01:06 AM Posted March 22, 2007 at 01:06 AM (edited) i heard that phil said he's gonna release those songs.. but then.. how come no news about it at all.....just release it as a EP will do... hahabut i dont' really have hope for it though Edited March 22, 2007 at 01:06 AM by celinefanonline Quote Courage don't you dare fail me now!
Celinenvegas Posted March 22, 2007 at 10:41 PM Posted March 22, 2007 at 10:41 PM If Phil Spector owns the masters of the recordings then only HE can release them. I do believe that they had recording sessions and hopefully one day we will hear them. Phil may be nuts but he is a musical genius as a producer and I think the recordings will be quite incredible. Remember that Celine's voice was in peak condition when she recorded Falling Into You, so it's gotta be incredible. It's been 10 years though and nothing has leaked out We can only hope..... Esty Posted March 23, 2007 at 03:58 PM Posted March 23, 2007 at 03:58 PM But wasn't the problem that in order those recordings to be released both Phil and Celine have to agree? Because of the rights or some legal stuff... Quote
firebird Posted March 23, 2007 at 04:32 PM Posted March 23, 2007 at 04:32 PM What about River Deep, Mountain High? It has been removed from Live A Paris and Memphis DVDs. Is that problem solved? Just think that the A New Day DVD will be the first time we'll get that song officially on video (besides the out-of-print Canadian VHS version of LAP) Quote
